Comparaison discutable. Une certaine "souplesse" chez Purcell, un art du rythme, quelque chose de physique, sensuel, qu'on ne trouvera pas dans Lully je pense.
@@a.b.c.8816 I am fully aware that Purcell was also influenced by the Italian style. Not all of his works sound like French baroque. That's why I also put in the word: "almost". ;-)
Superb, sublime performance - but some of the movements too quick - you lose the beauty of the music. It's not a race!! Surely for Purcell, it's the sublime melodies and the wonderful interplay of the treble and base lines to be fully absorbed and savoured.
The acoustic here is unhelpful and some of the playing is untidy but it is recognizably Purcell. Avoid Savall in the 'same' music as he turns it into some generic 'barockery' of the sort you might hear when waiting to be connected to a business in a phone queue. The Bremen musicians at least read what what the composer wrote.
'The Fairy Queen' is a wonderful Baroque Opera, but is also absolutely pagan. A Church is not a place for this music, same as 'Carmina Burana', a vulgar music and libretto, should not be played inside a Church. No?
And the angels danced in heaven........ beautiful
Excellent and stylish playing. Bravo
Mi gusto molto questo suono ( senza frenesia). Grazie. Il primo violino è un barocchista eccezionale
Magnificent , well paced🎉

Is fantastic
Yes, it is. 🙂
Me hace muy feliz
Listening to "Dance for the Green Men" almost made me think of Henry Purcell as the English equivalent of Lully.

which movements do you feel too fast?

I equate him with Handel.
Indeed
