I'm impressed by how many actions they were able to fit on so few buttons
I know. I just sat down with some paper to draw up how to slot all the actions on my Crosshotbar. All the attacking/prep for attacking buttons take up only 15 buttons, not counting AoE(I put those on another crosshotbar to toggle between single target and AoE with one button press)
I think what you are trying to say is. It's amazing how many skills there are that can be merged into single buttons. Like why does every Melee job have 1,2,3 (besides SAM and MNK but pretty much the same)
I just love that the initial basic combo is Red-Blue-Green and the "Subtractive Palette" changes them to Cyan-Magenta-Yellow. I wasn't expecting actual color terminology in the job kit but it's neat
The nerd in me is so happy with those details
Goes further, the additive palette results in white holy much like red blue n green light add up to white. If you swich to the subtractive the you add absorption and mixing Y C M u results in black… I like it
Tempera Grassa is a partywide shield though, so it's mostly a better choice that, as downside, does not give as much recast as Tempera Coat if consumed
DRK getting excog, Picto getting a baby spreadlo... Everybody just robbing SCH blind 😢
@@bsc649that’s alright sch robbed white mage of her wings
@@richardwallis9374 comes with a white robe too XD

5:29 Holy wall of text batman, is that the longest one in FFXIV now?
Waiting for the day that mousing over a tooltip will open up the "several cutscenes will play in succession" warning.
@@Khotetsu or praetorium 😂
I think Flourish is the longest now that it gives…*counts on fingers* 6 different buffs now?
@@raarasunai4896 yea but it just says "grants buff a,b,c,d,e,f go ham lmao"
Oh, I love that the LB has the spriggan from the DT opening movie. PCT looks really fun! Thanks for the video!
Can't wait to try it out myself, i really like what i've seen so far so this might end up being my new main for Dawntrail.
Looka much better in game aesthetically than the trailer suggested, cant wait!
We gettin Yu Gi Oh card descriptions up in these skill tooltips
7:29 you seemed to have read over the fact the smaller shield is actually party wide so is largely going to be better in raids unless you have a need for personal survivability (like the wings bleed in P10S as a random example).
I can imagine a lot of people Swiftcasting the Landscape on the 2 minute, along with the hammer of movement is needed for a long stretch
With the changes to Swift Cast, I think its gonna be majority swifting 2 Steel Muses and absolutely using a swift for the Landscape Muse
Thanks for this video mrhappy, and for showing us the LB3
I think this will be a fun job. I like the whimsical esthetic.
Thanks for the upload! I can't wait to play my new main!
3:59 "Claw and Maw motifs"
The classic paws vs maws furry debate. :)
16:04 for the LB3
Or.. you know.. at 00:45.. right at the beginning of the video lol XD
I figured that spriggan in the trailers for pictomancer reveal was gonna be the lb
So for 7:30 when you're talking about the shield... it's either a Single Target Shield ... or if while it's ACTIVE on you, you can activate Tempera Grassa to put a 10% shield on you and allies in stead of a 20% on yourself...
Honestly despite being put off by Spaltoon gfx (I'm hoping for a vfx thing using calligraphy, kinda like Mt Rokkon or Sai from Naruto), Picto actually looks fun and mechanically interesting, plus having the tools like an En Avant and solo or party shields like the Ranged. And Ley Lines while being a party buff?
Oh mah lawd
The speed buff isn’t party wide. That’s just for the pictomancer.
@momos5803 right, I get that would be ridiculous (like sch's old Fey Wind or Ast's AoE Arrow card, RIP) tho fun if they'll ever bring it back... copium
I knew it the spriggan drawn by Krile in the trailer was the LB !
Tempera Grasa is an AoE shield btw
Hope you enjoyed my character, it looks like we had the same station at the tour on different days!
Best Caster Job this expansion by a longshot IMO. Lots of Nuance between the 2 job mechs with Sketches and Paint Gauge.
Nah it's still not beating black mage

Great Video! I'm so excited for this job!!
it looks nice the problem is i'm worried it might be a bit too complicated. maybe i'll just stick with summoner to start with and try this later.
Yeah they went a tad over board with this one. I don't think they should nerf its complexity at all as I find for those that want a challenging job it's great and keeps them away from jobs that are simple that I do like from being made too complicated.
Are you able to bank and convert multiple paint charges to just have a bunch of Comet in Black casts during 2-min burst windows? That seems like the play if so - you'd get all 5 GCDs of free movement plus the Rainbow Drip, Star Prism, and a hammer combo, and Comet in Black still works with Hyperphantasia. Plus the current potency puts it as high as Thunder in Magenta anyway.
I don't think you verbally mentioned that Tempera Grassa also spreads the shield to the party. It's in the tooltip, but I think that's one of its main uses if not the main reason to use it.
I like the smudge animation, kinda like Splatoon. Pictomancer seems overly complicated. This is why I hate media tours for this XIV because It might not be as complicated when you are actually playing a new job or job changes first hand.
They need a second pet class. But dark. Like Necromancer.
I like Madeen/Maduin added to the Pictomancer. If memory serves right, Maduin was Terra's father.
Maduin and Madeen are completely different and unrelated characters that have nothing in common. Madeen is the true form of Eiko's moogle pet in ff9.
Not having raise just makes it better for raid since they cant use that to justify making it low dps like RDM...its not like raise was useful anyway this last tier for so many mechanics, if someone died that was it the party wiped....
…I really appreciate the video, but the rotation still feels difficult for me to follow just conceptually, in terms of when you do which part of its kit and how to tell when to switch. Hopefully it’ll make more sense when I have my hands on it?
I don’t expect I’ll be doing any particularly serious content on it though (I usually cap out at Extremes and will likely main RDM there still, so it’s mostly gonna see use in dungeons for me), so a lot of the “it’ll depend on the fight” complexity may not matter too much anyway.
Seems to have a modicum of complexity to it, unlike Viper.
Viper is all flashy and seems scary but it has a low learning ceiling and and an average learning curve. With Picto it feels it has a high learning curve and it be more difficult to master
imma be stealing all the LB3s from now on
dont care if its a DPS loss, worth it see that spell
Thematically it sounds like a better red mage than red mage with how much it blends black and white magic lmao
my exact thought
Looking at when abilities unlock what is this going to play like at level 50/60/70/80?
Pretty well compared to many other classes. The class gimmicks are decently online at lower levels
Thanks for getting these out so fast!
Pretty good LB3! I am very excited for picto, but still not sure if it will be my main. The Canvases seem... clunky? I need to stop and cast a prep every 30 seconds or so? Just casting a set-up that does nothing else? That and the disconnect between the canvas and pallette systems are my big worries.
Why is the animation not hitting the target somehow making the job clunky? Would it be better if the animation for canvas spells is you shooting stuff?
Is Picto a pure DPS, or does it have party buffs?
There might be information about your question in the video
i am confused how u are suppose to madeen every 2 min if you need to use a 40 sec cooldown skill 4 times to get it ready. you basicly short 1 charge every 2 min. you can make up for it by having 3 charges spare at the start. meaing you can get it on 2/4/6min. but from from 8 min onwards u'll always be short 1 creatures painting.
Probably at your 1 min burst, and double creature + moogle at 2 mins
thank you king
As a recovering BLM, I think Picto seems to be a good pick for my next fix.
So with that support kit there's no way it'll do more DPS than SMN and leave SMN even worse right? ...Right? 😭
Looking at the potencies that smn gets I really doubt that.
There is no utility more costly to personal dps than raise. For as long as SMN has that, PCT will absolutely do more damage.
One interesting way that could mitigate this would be to buff SMN/RDM's potencies to acceptable levels but give you a (stacking?) damage down each time you raise roughly equal to the DPS gained by getting a DPS back on their feet, expiring after a significant period of time (30s? 1min?). Still couldn't see SMN doing PCT numbers because of how much movement they have but it would allow the gap to close significantly assuming you don't need to pick any allies up.
@@MyessaKupo why punish them even more for raising when they already are lol? RDM gets absolutely wrecked by just one raise, your GCD getting thrown off, you miss out on gauge, you miss a GCD that could have been dmg etc etc
Anyone remember when even monk was 3 attacks, 1 aoe, 2 off gcd, and a dot? Now classes are SO complicated. I completely understand why, but as a casual, i kind of miss the easier combos
Sorry to my party in advance I will stealing the LB3 please understand
i was hoping for more a brain-dead job that looked pretty, think ill stay on Red Mage, I don't want to have to think about the job too much but more than summoner, and less than Black Mage, so I can focus on the boss and mechanics more. kind of disappointed.
Its not the games fault your moms and dads DNA made you have an IQ of 40.
Wtf how can anyone learn that
This is just splatoon in rpg form. My inner octoling is highly interested. Also if I like it, I know exactly what kind of drip I'm making for it.
Pictomancer- Ayo can we get a mitigation
YoshiP- sure it’s gonna take two ogcds to get a 10% mit
Every pictomancer- nm I won’t use it 😂
Am I the only one who is bothered by the fact that fire is in your white paint combo and earth is in the black paint combo? -_-
eh this aint supposed to be a Red Mage
this makes more sense for Picto as the colors are CMYK and RGB
also the elements are already fucked, have you seen the elemental wheel in XIV?? it does not align with WHM and BLM
That’s because picto isn’t channeling elemental aether, but rather a “painted” version of them. So they’re going follow colour theory rules instead of aether rules like RDM
That a hammer smash is a ranged attack bothers me. The job feels rushed and cluttered - like everything in the brain storm session went in without debate for lack of time.
That makes it unique? Should we just have another Red Mage? FF14 players when a job isn't an exact copy of another!!!
So basically it outclasses RDM in every single aspect, with Verraise being the only exception.
why does that matter, just play who you have fun with.
The aesthetic does not fit in the 14 universe imo.
Considering that ff14 is literally the final fantasy disneyland, everything fits.
Kinda weird hearing all that overoptimisation when we know for a fact:
- Weakest damage dealer
- As we now see, no significant support spells
- No res
- No heal.
Why the hell people will even allow this class into serious content? It's not bringing anything new/special.
because job identity has not mattered for over 5 years at this point? Who gives a fck?
Odd. I am in a very progressive raid team. You usually dont care about the rez since you will probably wipe.
But just so you are educated. Picto has an AOE shield that can be cast every 30 seconds (which is OP), for 10% of HP. It has a heal on a 2 minute cooldown, provides a 5% damage buff. Its pretty standard like most jobs. Not sure what your point is.
And you have zero clue if Picto is going to be a weak damage dealer or not... hell, they havent even released final potencies yet. But by the way it is looking, given its insane mobility, it will be fine.
I predict it will do less than BLM, but more than RDM.. somewhere in middle. It will be fine.
Picto seems so good for downsynced content. Moogle laser at 30? Holy at 50? Black magic at 60? Grass at 70? It'll have so many fun buttons it's like anti reaper/viper
Reaper was literally "one action every 5 levels" nah its not like there are times when you'll be sync down and maybe be lacking in abilites.. yup not a problem ....
I was thinking the exact opposite, at least for the very early dungeons. Until 30 your offensive kit is a single button (1 for aoe at 25)
@@vairse53 I mean that's a built in problem to all Jobs cus you don't get a lot of abilities that fast and start with spares amount (1 and lvl1 and so on)
What does anti Reaper/Viper mean?
@@ocsanchez522ify reaper is pretty boring in most synced content due to how high a lot of their important stuff is
Picto seems thoughtful and fun! I will definitely need to do picto for a tier!
This job looks fucking cool and super flashy. But also more complex than I’m used to cos I’m basic and play RPR, SMN and RDM.
It's funny how much this feels like SHB Summoner.
Thought the same but curiously this is the only comment I've seen saying it.
@@SheepHead9810 Is it? I mained SMN in SHB and all I remember doing was: tridisaster for the debuffs, ruin, ruin, ruin, ruin, ruin, ruin, redot, redot, ruin, ruin, ruin BAHAMUT deathflare ruin fester ruin fester ruin fester deathflare and back to the beginning.
@@royox It have obviously been a while since ShB and I haven't personally gotten my hand on Picto yet to get a feel on it. But from what I've seen of the media tour it does seem to be very similar to what I recall from maining SMN in both StB and ShB.
A basic spam. Ruin = white/black paint
Upkeep. DoT = Motif
A long cooldown buff that does almost the exact same thing.
And weaving. Deathflare/Pet skill = Paintings
The upkeep does seem more like StB SMN when tridisaster was just an AoE and you had to manually apply each DoT and there was less mobility than in ShB.
When I get to try Picto myself it might not feel the same at all, I am only basing my statement from the media tour footage and coverage.
My brain hurts trying to understand what to do.
Hello to my new caster main.👋🏾
really looking forward to try this job. looks a lot of fun.
RGB and CMYK(omet)
Hmm, neat
I'm surprisingly excited for this. Before your video, I didn't really want to picto but maybe this will be the alternative for summoner I've been waiting for...
I stay with boring dk
lol this class will be like black mage.. when you play picto or black mage you are not playing FF14 lol you are playing picto or black mage.. i think im good this class is not for me haha.
I'm so excited for Pictomancer! I even bought the paint emotes just in case the price skyrockets. Casters are my favorite, I have all at 90, though I usually play SMN for first runs since it's so easy. I'm a bit sad you said PCT seems like it'll be very technical like BLM; I was hoping it'd be about the same difficulty as RDM. At least it only seems to be about 20 buttons, so keybinding and getting used to them shouldn't be too bad. I really appreciate this video, as it gives a very good idea on how it will play. It looks super fun with beautiful spells!
So were the early predictions of this being a hybrid support/caster DPS wrong then? I don't see where the support aspect of the class comes in if not.
he buffs party wide by 5%
@@MrKalefe That's just their 2m CD...not particularly unique to Picto.
@@saint8472 Thats what support means in ff14
They have a raid wide shield for 10% HP on a 30 second cooldown which is nuts, they have a heal on a 2 minute cooldown, and a 5% raid damage buff. Its pretty standard.
@@lincolnjohnson4428it's not a 30 second cooldown, that would be insane
After seeing a description of the abilities and spells I started thinking it looks like ninja and I might take it as a new main. at least a mage secondary class to adjust for raids
I love having some flexibility and planning movement, this looks great
Mr. Happy tell your raid team to let you play as picto!!
Looking forward to working out how to play this one
I get to genuinely cast a spell legitimately called *“Mog of the Ages”* I’m gonna love eating paint so much.
It’s probably only me but pictos colors seem jarring and out of place for the game. But hey it’s something different I suppose.
Nah I'm still calling it pride tunnel.
Night and day difference between Summoner and Pictomancer.
