Thanks for the video! I'm a custom home builder and thinking about starting a side hustle scanning houses under construction before they are covered with drywall. Plus, 3D tours through completed homes, etc. could be another offering. I need to learn more about how to use the Matterport Pro 3 though and all of the features it has so I know what services I could offer.
@4:40 thank you for your video. It just occured to me that you don't show the two compared pictures from the window the same size! the smaller (Matterport) looks way sharper - but when you make them same size the difference is really really small small. please keep it authentic
Great video, and very informative. Quick question: What software do you link your photos to the location. For example, I work in construction projects, I would like to use my set of plans to create pins (locations) where my clients can see the progress of the project. I would be great if I can create a timeline of the jobs for each room or building level(s). Thank you in advance for your any input that you can share.
One issue I have with the insta 360 is the range of connectivity. It can get tricky when you’re scanning an open area with nowhere to hide. You lose connection easily sometimes less than 10 feet away and you can’t walk behind it like you can with the Matterport
This is a really cool video. The company I work for has recently purchased a 3D scanner. This is to be used on a production plant. Basically we need to scan the inside of a mill (a big drum, with a size of 4m diameter and 8m long). There is not a lot of light, but can be added. It can also be dusty. Wonder how the X3 would do in such a case? Might be good enough to create a file you can share with the customer to give him an inside tour?
Are you doing these Matterport tours, or just reviewing the product? It looks interesting. Real Estate photography is a field that is always going to need a good well rounded photographer.
With the Matterport, can you actually export a textured 3d model of the entire space (like an obj or fbx file with texture maps), or is it still just only for a 360 spherical tour with a 3d dollhouse view used for navigation? Thanks!
What SW are you using for post-processing for both of the devices (to get the walking tour feel)? Matterport?I am looking at the screencap at the 6:03 mark.
I have a question regarding how to charge for the scans. Is it based on the area, such as 2,000 square feet, or is there another criterion we should consider for billing the customer? These scans are quite time-consuming for large spaces and require significant resources, including technicians. I would greatly appreciate your insights on the best approach for pricing the scans.
Would you be able to comment how many points can the Matterport scan on a full charge ? I get around 200 points of continuous use from an insta 360 before I need a recharge.
hello, I thought you were experienced in this area, I just bought the matterport pro2 and I have a few questions. Is there a fee charged to me if I want to make a dollhouse after I sub, and is there a fee for posting the virtual tour on the website?
hi this is great i am looking to hire one for one-off project but unable to found anyone that hires these out on short term lease can anyone suggest please
I was happy to see it. I wqs actuzlly wondering how huge would ne the differencz. I thought the pro 3 would make way quicker tour shooting for example. I was wrong according to this video :)
Insta x3 is a toy compared to the Pro3. I have Matterport Pro2, Pro3 and had also Insta X3. First of all, Insta X3 will probably use infrared beams for measurements, which will immediately struggle under the direct sun. Secondly, the battery of Insta X3 will be dead/empty ultra-fast. Next, the scanning range of the Insta x3 is ca. 2-3 meters, the Pro 3 's is ca. 12 meters + etc. Next, Pro3 has 1 inch sensor, 5 steps of HDR, etc.

Did you end up finding a good scanner?
@ Never ended up pulling the trigger on this side hustle.
This seems like it would be a great tool for documentation of a crime scene.
Great review, too.
Allready in use by several police departments.
4:30 great video, but no mention of the actual resolution... I heard that the x3 with matterport only does 12mp not 72! is that correct? Thanks.
18 if i'm not mistaken

It's an unfair comparison, Am glad you pointed that out. He is not keeping it real!

Timer function?
It doesn't have a timer? Whack.

That's very interesting. I wonder how the LiDAR would perform with the dust and such. Thanks for sharing

Amazing the X3 can keep up with such specialized equipment
I thought so too
The 4x is now out for Insta360, so I wonder if they are even closer now. The 4x does 8k!
@@rickdeckardbladerunner2049from my testing of the X4 it appears that matterport hasn't updated their software to support the X4 yet.
How accurate are the floor plan measurements compared to a laser measure?

Am curious too
Me too
Just ordered a 3x. My friend is using Matterport. I can't wait to try it out!
How did they compare?
How is it working out?
Is the Matterport significantly any better in low light? I have the X3
It struggles, but using the Axis with an iPhone 15 Pro or any other phone with low light capabilities it shines
How is the resolution for your x3? Mine really sucks, it only does 18mp, even with good lighting

Hey were did you get the monopod for the insta?
I tried to do a scan yesterday with the X3 but the quality didn't go all the way to 72MP but rather to 17MP HDR! anyway I can force it to 72MP?
No bro! Wait for the X4 to be included.
What site did you use for the insta 360 tour? Matterport? Thanks
I am pretty sure they are both Matterport products. I think they use the same type of software

yes subscription fees starting from 10 usd per month
Im using the 360 camera, can i take the photos in jpeg or do they need to be hdri photos?
Matterport Pro 1 vs Insta X3 would have been way more interesting comparison as a Pro 1 used is just 2-300 more then a X3.
If someone let u use the camera it’s clearly a sponsor video but u did amazing I couldn’t afford that if my life depended on it 😂
Why do I feel like its just better to start with a matterport
Thanks for the video, can I create a floor plan using Insta 360 ?
no we cant get floor plan by insta360

does all the data work with Autodesk recap?
Is samsung s24 ultra or samsung s24 plus better than x3 360* camera for 3d scanning for both virtual tour and pointcloud ?
Did you find the answer? I have same phone too.
I don’t get anyone calling for Matterport these days…
You’re sponsered by Jesus and that’s good with me. Saw the fish in the corner.
God bless
That is an unfair comparison.
Why? You get what you pay for.
If this is an unfair comparison, then there is no point in comparisons.
