Great video! Nice topic. I think people hear the word Cubaris and think 'difficult' or 'expensive' right away. Great counter to that as these are under appreciated.
I'm just getting into isopods and this channel is a wealth of knowledge! It's exactly the info you need that you can't always find from written articles.
That shirt is adorable! I'm just starting to learn about keeping isopods and I'm so glad to have you as a resource. The first ones you showed were all over in Georgia where I grew up, we called them roly polys. They are so stinking cute and I really would love to have a little colony once I learn more. Also, my favorite ice cream flavor is coffee.
I had have a family of grey ones I found in the yard. It's fall and they're always buried and really don't do anything so I started to feed them to my cave orb-weaver cuz it didn't have anything to eat. it is very happy now. it had it hoisted like 8 inches of the ground of the container I have orb weaver in and was on it for 2 and a half days before it cut it loose and let it drop to the ground. now its ass-end is like twice as big as it was, it is so-so happy. good thing the rest of my grey rollie pollies didn't die yet cuz winter snows didn't even start yet. I need to stretch this out till spring when i can start feeding it flies again ... ... in case anyone is wondering, this is the first year for keeping rollie pollies and a spider as a pet so I'm feeling my way around this and will be happy if the spider makes it to spring. the rollie pollies I can always replace. altho to be honest, from what I gathered the spider I got only has a life expectancy of like 18 months or so. it's not very encouraging but still cool to watch ... I named it Boris after listing to your video if I had to hazard a guess, I would probably say my grey ones aren't active at all because I keep the house cool (60-65) in winter, and being local to my yard I'm guessing they know enough to sleep it off till it gets warm again... I did check on them they are still alive just hiding in dirt and lethargic ... nice video, keep up good work.
Hello! Just found your channel as I am discovering my love for Cubaris Isos. Great video, informative, love the visual clarity and you’re so beautiful! Subscribing and ordering my first species, the papayas 💗
I just started out in the hobby and I currently house Armadillidium klugii, Porcelio laevis, Porcellionides pruinosus and dwarf whites. I was blown away with how fast my powder blues started to reproduce. So interesting! I am anyway scared of more expensive species. I will get some Armadillidium maculatum and gesteroi in the near future and they are already almost overbudget. But I mean they are so beautiful and interesting to keep that I am sure that I will love them. Hopefully one day I will be able to get some Cubaris! For now I just enjoy looking at yours! I love this videos, the footage and voiceover relax me a lot.
I just set up my Cubaris murina "Papaya" yesterday with some springtail friends and I love them. They are my first ever isopods and i'm really glad I choose (completely on accident) a great starter species :3
Digging the vids Hannah!! I’d love to see more, keep them coming! I’d love that shirt and I’ll be hitting you guys up for a several species to add to my collection in a few months.
I just got a starting culture of Cubaris sp. Borneo today! Excited as this is my first Cubaris species acquired. I currently also have a combined tank with powders and dairy cows. Thanks for all the info you provided in this and your other videos!
I recently discovered your channel and I must say I really like it! The way you present yourself and the isopods shows how much you love these animals and how dedicated you are. Keep up the good work! Cheers all the way from Germany!
I recently decided to try dairy cows after starting with Asellus Aquaticus, so naturally came to TH-cam! I've subscribed because you explain each different element clearly & in a way that is easy to understand, your clear love of certain species of isopods just makes your videos that more enjoyable!
I have been doing isopods for 1 1/2 now and enjoy them very much. I am currently doing the amadillidium and porcellio species. I think after watching your video I will have to start the cubaris. Hope to see more videos now that I have subscribed.
CONGRATS!!! You’re the winner of the isopod shirt! Just had to trash a few videos that didn’t turn out quite how I wanted. You will be announced as the winner in the next video! Feel free to reach out through email or Instagram! Email is isopodsource@gmail.com And isopodsource on Instagram !
Thanks for the videos :)) Ive recently begun collecting isopods and am excited just thinking about getting cubaris :)) So far I have Costa Rican dwarf purples, Armadillidium maculatum, Porcelio laevis, and Porcelio scaber. Collecting isopods is a fun hobby. Oh and I’d love a free t-shirt :))
This channel has been really helpful, especially parts of this video. I'm writing a research paper on the genus Cubaris (specifically rubber ducky isopods) and it was nice to learn about some of the care requirements for some of the other species in this genus. I look forward to watching more videos on your channel. I plan on having cultures of certain isopods in the future and this will be a great reference when I choose which ones to start with. Thank you and look forward to what else you put out!
Great video! I have those same tubs! I added ventilation holes to mine, covered with fine cloth mesh. Should I not add ventilation for the Cubaris Species?
so I've been thinking of buying some isopods as a "clean up crew" for my snake terrarium, but I don't know what to look for. what species would be best, how many will I need, What else will I need to set up in the terrarium to support them, etc? any help is appreciated.
Your voice is so calming! I just found your channel today! I absolutely love isopods want to start since isopod colonies soon! I am waiting to see if any upcoming reptile expos have any before i order them online! I was wondering what your thoughts on keeping isopods in bearded dragon bioactive tanks. What spieces would you suggest keeping in it?
Shiros. Thank you. Rookie's first Cubaris, I'll make that my goal. Got a few other in the queue, it's such a hard hobby - there are so many cute woodls I can't stop finding new ones I want to keep!
ooooh. I wish I had money to spill out for the Shiros. ;0; But I was wondering if you can do a top 5 of your active isopod species. Thanks if you consider the idea!
Hi! Our favorite picks would definitely be dwarf whites pored with a small isopods like A. nasatum or A. maculatum. They can’t harm the gecko and produce at a steady enough rate to both be an occasional snack and clean up crew !
Great video! Nice topic. I think people hear the word Cubaris and think 'difficult' or 'expensive' right away. Great counter to that as these are under appreciated.
Cubaris are such a cool species of isopod! Hopefully I can get a few cultures started one day.

Thank you for this informative video. I would be interested to learn the defining characteristics of each isopod genus.
so I've been thinking of buying some isopods as a "clean up crew" for my snake terrarium, but I don't know what to look for. what species would be best, how many will I need, What else will I need to set up in the terrarium to support them, etc? any help is appreciated.
I'm planning on starting a Borneo colony.
I wish i could get one soon
Man, I just got some pods, but I dont have any cubaris yet... I really want some of those papaya ones though. Super cool!
Will the cubaris murina breed and have some albino babys and look like the papya variation?
They looked like roaches, but way more cuter. The rubber ducky, White angel Malaysia and the panda king are my fav!

I’m a to late for the giveaway? Lmao love the shirt.
I am still terrified of Cubaris. I'd love the Jupiter morph one day, but I'm just not mentally prepared!
Shiros. Thank you. Rookie's first Cubaris, I'll make that my goal. Got a few other in the queue, it's such a hard hobby - there are so many cute woodls I can't stop finding new ones I want to keep!
Cool video
Love your vlogs (as long as there is no piano music in the background :)
whats your experience with Cubaris Sp panda king ?
Which land living isopod that you can actually buy is the biggest?
Porcellio hoffmansegii
Only just found you do you still make video
I love your stuff Hannah! I'm also liking the eye make-up! I want to start my own invert videos, I will make sure my eye make-up is on point too!
ooooh. I wish I had money to spill out for the Shiros. ;0; But I was wondering if you can do a top 5 of your active isopod species. Thanks if you consider the idea!
What do you think the best isopod for a crested gecko vivarium would be (high humidity and in the 70s)?
Hi! Our favorite picks would definitely be dwarf whites pored with a small isopods like A. nasatum or A. maculatum. They can’t harm the gecko and produce at a steady enough rate to both be an occasional snack and clean up crew !
Never had Cubaris... LIES! I just bought some whilst watching this video 😆
Where'd you go lol
Awesome!!💖
Roly Poly!

Hello guys
Did you realise that our recent fascination with isopods is actually history repeating itself?
Too bad the channel is dead.
Looks like you might have a couple cubaris murina glacier in there too.
