If these are the best single player games, what was the metric for these choices? Because from my perspective, almost ALL these games were mid tier at best. Little to no immersion, lack of engaging exploration, lacking complex mechanical features; the list goes on. The past 4 years have shown just how shallow western gaming has become.🤨🤷🏼♂️ I'll stick to my Japanese developed/produced games thank you very much.🧐 There are 2 or 3 exceptions on this list: ToTK, BG3 and Astrobot. Although, even these games could be better in some aspects. Another issue is how many "reboots" and "redemption" games get released. Why do we always have to wait 1 to 2 years for a game to be fixed and re-released in the state it was initially supposed to launch in? It just seems crazy to me. I didn't bring up Elden Ring, because as awesome and expansive as it is, it wasn't anything new for many of us Souls fans, aside from the story plot although, I do believe it deserves to be listed.

A few more mentions: 1. Nexomon Extinction. Beats out Pokemon by a mile. Better music, better story, no event exclusives, no trade evolutions, no HM requirement, and no pointless dragging in combat. 2. Crash Bandicoot 4. They may have really exaggerated the completion requirements with the perfection relics and that triple spin for the time trials, but the rest of the completion journey is extremely fun, especially with the hitbox issue fixed for the riding levels. 3. Sonic Frontiers. Fantastic open world, epic combat system, and insane boss fights. The final boss was disappointing, though. 4. Sonic X Shadow Generations. On top of bringing back the already loved Sonic Generations, it also provides a whole new game for Shadow, with a lot of similarities to Sonic Frontiers. 5. Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory. It may not top KH2 overall, but it’s easily my personal favorite in the series. I’ve always had a soft spot for well-crafted rhythm games, especially with that many tracks. The Kingdom Hearts soundtrack is great enough to listen to, let alone play along with. Plus the game added 3 bonus classic Disney tracks. 6. Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. I waited for this one’s release before getting into the Investigations games, and I’m so glad I did. The mechanics and stories of those games are awesome enough, and now we can enjoy them in high quality, and an official translation for Investigations 2 (better late than never). 7. Oddworld Soulstorm. Hot take, but I think it’s a massive improvement to Abe’s Exodus. On top a much better story, you also have tools you can use for various purposes, most of said tools can be crafted, the controls are more refined, and the mudokons that follow you can help you out even more by tossing stuff at sligs, on top of being easier to save due to being able to climb and jump. It has a few hostile moments, but not nearly as much trial-and-error as in Exodus, thank god. In addition, the chanting is much better crafted. Sure, you still only possess sligs, but you can pick which slig to possess by directing your chant spirit to him. Also, you can replay levels that you already completed. The only thing I think Exodus has better than in Soulstorm is mudokon statuses and emotions (no, don’t bring up this cringy fart-possessing).

As someone who played Spiderman 2... That game is mid AF. Combat, story, side quests and exploration getting repetitive real quick even after you unlock the venom symbiote. I don't even remember a single memorable side quest and Peter Parker isn't even the main character in his own game. And the fact that game forces you to play as a deaf girl instead of Spiderman along with those forced MJ missions... It really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I've completed Ghost of Tsushima 3 times, Black Myth Wukong 6 times already with 167 hours in. Yet I never felt bored even for a minute.
It's nice to see some more love for Valhalla. I've played and enjoyed the AC series since the original was a new release and I don't understand all the hate. It became one of, if not my favorite.
FF16 snub and Jedi Fallen order. How do you have LOFP2, which is a remaster, instead of a new titles?? Those two are better than at least 2 or 3 games on this list.
The other commentator didn’t think it was bad necessarily, but just not very historically accurate. Since England is not snowy and mountainous, and the developers are essentially just flaunting the Nordic aesthetic for the sake of making an enticing title to those that are not playing for the history side of it.
@tarutso I am a fan, just not a fanboy. There's a difference. Fanboys just praise everything. When you are a fan, you like the content, but still see its faults. The gameplay was fun, but some of the side missions and extra padding just dragged. And the story, oh man, well, you already know about the story
@@JB-wv8pbThe side quests were super well thought out, extremely rewarding, and a lot of fun. But I find it funny how people complain about “padding” when nobody forces you to do any of it….. Also, the story is brilliant. A lot of purists just don’t understand what it is they’re trying to do. But for those of us who can, we understand that what they’re doing is actually extremely brilliant.
After forcing myself through BOTW, I just couldn't take more of the overhyped BS that is the zelda we know today. Played about a couple of hours of TOTK and it has been collecting dust ever since.
It was easily game of the year in 2020. The people like you who don't like it are too fixated on a character getting killed which is just how that apocalyptic world works. (No discussion)
@@cba_2442 too bad, there is discussion. That game did not win fairly, it was a very bad game, specially when the first one was amazing. The story was told in a terrible way, maybe if it was reordered in a better way, perhaps could've been great, but, as it is, it's terrible and stop supporting mediocrity.
@MetroidFusion5044 well considering all that u just listed all that is wrong with it I don't really need to explain further it is one of the few LoZ games that was lacking on story which to most of the fans that have been fans from the beginning that's a huge problem
@MetroidFusion5044 true either way having literally everything lead back to the same group was a bit underwhelming along with repetitive cutscenes and myself along with a lot of other older fans dislike the seeming retcon or pulling away from the original lore of the series its like they r afraid to bring up the triforce and the golden goddesses but i still stands by that this channel didn't fully research this game
@TheWheeledGamer I don't think they were afraid to bring out the old stuff, but I think they wanted to try something new. The Wilderness era is not tied to any other timeline for a reason. And what do you mean by research anyway? It's arguably the best game on switch
I Hate To State The Obvious But The PS3/XBOX 360/Nintendo Wii era Is starting to look alot better In Hindsight I know Life Is about moving forward but still the entertainment Industry post COVID Is kinda rough to be Blunt
It was a weaker year. Had some great games but the game that won game of the year was a co-op game. If I had to choose a game from that year it would be Psychonauts 2.
Metaphor is my Game of the Year. I hate The Last of us part 2. It should not have won Game of the Year. It was another reason why 2020 sucked. Lies of P is too damn hard. If it was easier I would probably enjoy it. 6:05 Game of the Year. Horizon Forbidden West? More like Forgotten West since this series keeps getting overshadowed by other games. 10:15 Bitch, I'm fabulous! If Wukong is like Sekiro then I don't want to play it. I can't play games like Lies of P. I made a Futa character in Cyberpunk 2077 because the game allows it. I basically made a punk version of Crimvael with golden teeth and golden tones. I call the new God of War games Dad of War. 13:33 It's going back to it's polygon roots. Ghost of Tsushima is the true Game of the Year in 2020. Tears of the Kingdom is the true Game of the Year in 2023. I can't enjoy Elden Ring if it has brutal difficulty.

A bit of recency bias but list is not too bad! No Yakuza games on here? e.g. Infinite Wealth but Valhalla is? Dang
Where is plague tales Requiem?? 🙄🥴🤦🤦
In my exp have much more fun with stardew valley, darkest dungeon or The binding of isaac for example
AC Valhalla? Are you serious? Lol
Assassins Creed Valhalla, really? 🤦♂️
13:13 no, it did not win me over (old school fan). Good game, but forgettable for me
Must not be true fan then dang
Narrator put me to sleep
Starting with stinky game ain't a good strategy yo
Valhala on list is totaly joke. In best it is totaly mid game maybe even worse
More Lies except for hi fi rush and horrizon forbidden west and astro bot
Tlou2 was terrible
Let them seethe and cope for TLOU2, Lord knows they're not going to get Part 3.
@@cornelisscholtz4658game was good and definitely getting a part 3
@@him3407 You sure? ND will be going bankrupt soon, so don't hold your breath.
So tears being on this list just tells me sales is the defining factor of this list and not much else for research was done
Tears is great what are you talking about? Yeah, characters, storytelling, sky island and dephts were kinda lame, but everything else is amazing
@MetroidFusion5044 well considering all that u just listed all that is wrong with it I don't really need to explain further it is one of the few LoZ games that was lacking on story which to most of the fans that have been fans from the beginning that's a huge problem
@TheWheeledGamer It's not like the plot of any The Legend of Zelda game has ever been that great.
No baldurs gate 3?, such a heresy
Watch the video please
I Hate To State The Obvious But The PS3/XBOX 360/Nintendo Wii era Is starting to look alot better In Hindsight I know Life Is about moving forward but still the entertainment Industry post COVID Is kinda rough to be Blunt
ps2 era is the best era you can ask to sony, and most of fans
even developer today decide to remake ps2 games more than remake ps3/360 games
It takes 2 ?
Nothing from 2021? Or was that a weak year
It was a weaker year. Had some great games but the game that won game of the year was a co-op game. If I had to choose a game from that year it would be Psychonauts 2.
AI script
Very bad list imho
Part II is definitely the Best among DEI Degeneracy Propaganda Garbage games
brain rot.
Cry more
@@misterhoobomasterI agree, part 2 is brain rot
*The last of us part 2 is a bad joke 👎*
Don't bother with Last of us 2
I've never play a game with such bad character development.
Were you feeling so disgusted just playing the character
Last of us part 2 pretty much made this video a couple tiers lower. That game ruined the original masterpiece
"I would do it, all over again"...
