My girlfriend and I were in a car accident on the last day of grade 12 in June, I came out with scratches, but she died on scene. This song was played at her funeral for her eulogy. There was a note she had in her diary saying how she loved Ólafur and how beautiful she thought his music was. She would listen to him while sketching things and writing personal notes. I miss her more than anything, she was truly as beautiful as this music.
That’s incredible. At least you should find comfort in the fact that her memory rests in this beautiful & astounding piece of art! May she RIP & may you have found your way through this tragedy onto a happier, fulfilling life :)
I hate when I show my friends something as beautiful as this and they automatically discredit it because they don't like that it doesn't have words or a beat. It really saddens me. This song has made me cry at least twice and... I want them to be able to experience that.
Me too i agree 10000000%. everyone should expirence this beauty. This building up loveliness. Hope everybody that listens to this song today can gey know the emotions that this song gives you 😁
I took a music theory class in college and we were assigned with bringing in a song that we felt represented us. The day came and we started presenting our songs. Everyone seemed lethargic and we played 30 seconds of each person's song. Popular songs, cultural songs, poppy songs from people's childhood. I felt like I made a mistake because this song was not similar to their selections. We played about 20 songs before it was my turn. I walked up and only a few people were even paying attention... but when the song started. Everyone's came to attention, they were all focused in their own way on the song. We were only supposed to listen to 30 seconds but the whole song played all the way through. They decided not to stop it and when it was finished Everyone in the class was just staring at each other. My teacher asked me why I picked this song and everyone in the class was waiting for an answer. Sometimes people don't even know how to experience these things, they just don't know.
First listened to this amazing track in 2011. It was my favourite instrumental back then. I used to listening to this one almost every night during the winter season. Those were the days! With time, i forgot this one. My phone changed, so too my music library. Today, out of nowhere this track comes to my mind. I even forgot its name. I just remembered it was composed by an Icelandic musician, and its name was in numbers- four digits. After some googling, i found this. Pure bliss❤️
i love Olafur. Pure spirit. His songs will give you visions, give you stories, and epiphanies. This song is a love story of a reunion. It begins in a sorrowful note, lovers in separation, then it builds up, the guy slowly comes around, then when the drums starts banging, the guy is already released from his demons, he's now on his way to his lover, he's walking, riding the bus, as all his memories fly by him. Then, at the last 30 seconds, he finds the meeting place, and sees her there. They slowly approach each other, their eyes quivering, cloudy; his hands start running her hair. they are in tears and smiles. end.
I'm 28 years old now; hearing Ólafur's music brings me back memories of that 16 years old teenager hearing this for the first time and living many things for the first time, 12 years ago... this music, this feeling, that teenager :') it is a bittersweet feeling :'( Many things have happened and many have gone in many ways, people, moments...
Iceland is a very small country but whith a great talented people like Bjork, the guys from Sigur Ros and of course Olafur, Thanks Iceland a fan from Mexico C:
In year 3055 I hope people can still listen to this, if not I would feel sorry for them as they would be missing out on so much. We are just the beginning of something so, so much bigger in this world and by listening to this you and me are just a little bit closer to a better place, whatever that may be.
So here we are, according to the media.... all of the countries in the world hate each other, but when we all come on youtube and listen to the likes of Balmorhea, Olafur Arnolds, CandyRat records artists, etc... we seem to get along just fine.... Am I missing something??
It's the elites & agents of the elites that want people divided & at war with each other for various control agendas. We the people at the grassroots have everything to gain by cooperating & negotiating with each other & generally getting along.

I still remember the first time I heard the album... I couldn't believe it when the drums kicked in. Absolutely incredible music. It's rare that with so much music easily available these days, something can stop you in your tracks like this does.
i cant listen to this without crying.. its just amazing.. you create a silence with your music that completely kills me and i dont have the strength to listen to its sometimes.. its just too amazing.. thank you
+Laura Ciocoiu Not really...it comes from looks, from how thick your wallet is, and how famous one is...but I see what you mean...maybe in the distant future, when our brains, and us as entities, develop into something much greater, maybe then it will truly be the way you wrote. Au revoir.

This is one of the first videos I've seen where there isn't a thousand flame wars nor nonsense in the comment section. Just a whole lot of people utterly moved by such a beautiful piece of music.
I found this years ago when I was 14 just randomly playing a game called RuneScape. I was talking to people about music, and this guy told me if I was interested in any genre listen to Olafur. I did. And since then I’ve been in love to the point that I learned how to pick up piano. I’m 26 now and that random guy got me into playing the keyboard which turned into me playing piano professionally. I wish I could remember that man’s name so I could thank him.
Although beginning in a spiral of darkness, 1:40 is where the song begins to catch a glimmer of hope. The album title "Eulogy for Evolution," is a dark title which possibly resembles the hopelessness of humanity, yet scattered throughout his music is signs of hope. Olafur is incredible at showing reality: the fact we're not in good shape, but the hope for the future.
I recently discovered Olafur Arnalds and I have to say his music is so wonderful. Every new track of him I listen to is better than the previous one this is incredible.
Totally fell in love with this song...so eloquent in the beginning, and when the drums kicked in...oh Lord, it was like the musical heavenly gates themselves opened up on me! Great, great song...^-^
a crescendo of human emotion that moves me everytime, that last part of the song sends me visions of a waterfall trickling over a wide cliff face, cascading down over the moss, to joyfully rejoin the ocean below, from where it once came
I love this song, being a metal lover this is a good different yet beautiful song, how the violins and the piano collide with each other, and the drums, my favorite part is when it hits 3:11... the whole song is just beautiful though. Love it.
I've said it many times and I will never stop... Thanking you Ólafur. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us your beautiful creativity. Many, many thanks. :) Wish you all the happiness and health possible. :)

4 Years... 4 Years of everyone connecting to this song in there own way. I found Ólafur Arnalds 3 years ago. This song has always been my favorite of them all. It's hard to see how well Ólafur made a name for himself. 3 Years ago, I was only one of thousands who enjoyed this.
