Andy is closing in on hybrid wheels and specialized deck-next is hopefully a more allround and light truck. This is just getting more and more interesting for us all.
@2:35 Andy has it. I fo sho don't have it. I love you way you explained regions. Made so much sense in my mind and instantly made my tre vs varial so much tighter.

Just got my nano cuibics in the mail, along with my new deck (Semien skull flight deck) and mini logo trucks. Now I'm just hoping the sun pokes out and dry's up the ground so I can go skate!
I've been skating for over 20 years, and I've always mall grabbed. its more efficient holding something that runs parallel to your body, and if your skating somewhere sketchy you can use it for self defense if needed. I remember one time a friend was all insecure, and asked me to not mall grab when we went to this skatepark lol, and I made fun of him and continued to mall grab.
i really don’t care how people wanna hold their boards, i just remember picking mine up by the trucks one time and getting a splinter of metal stuck in my hand. hurt like hell for about a month, that’s why i never understood mall grabbing. but for some reason no one i’ve seen who mall grabs has had that problem, so maybe i’m just unlucky lol
theres literally a dj named mallgrab. lol. and he was good. its like a slang term for almost anything weird in europe. i dont skate. but andys not giving a fuck is very cool.
Some new tricks are/were planned out while using some or no prior knowledge to get there, invented. Some new tricks are/were happened upon by accident while trying something else or recovering from a failed trick, discovered. A conversation with the first to do these things like a Rodney might help us know which he created from want or need using talent and which he randomly found from talent. Artistically he may prefer the word discovered though if the word invented makes him feel too much ownership of something he feels would have happened anyways or was being done elsewhere without his knowledge. Or the use of discovered is what he might prefer from a sense of the progression all skaters go through where he was just possibly the first to be on that path. I'm not set in stone on any this since I'm hopped up on my morning coffee. Sorry long.

Dan, it would be super cool if you started to do some short interviews/conversation with some of these guys like Andy, Mathew, AJ, Spencer and so on. I still mall-grab. Back in the 90s, there were people who walked around the mall just holding, in a mall grab, a perfectly new setup as a fashion accessory, and that's what skaters were making fun of. Somehow, it morphed into anyone who mall-grabs is a poser. Also, if you're holding your board with a mall-grab, no one will mess with you because you are obviously carrying a weapon, or at the least, they'll be way more hesitant; which is still an advantage if they do decide to mess with you. Not to mention "griptape fingers" just because you don't want people to make fun of you; which isn't as bad as you'd imagine. You can learn to throw-down from mall-grab, too.
You go look at the comment section of any Freestyle video and it's bot spammed with Rodney comments. Nice to see someone with a platform address the obvious irony of it.
