I've had some chocolate from around Lake Maracaibo and it was some of the loveliest chocolate I've ever had. Chococo also do a 45% Venezuelan milk hot chocolate in their cafés - always my go-to.
I used to eat off the outer part of the coco bean when my dad would pick them... They are so good when it's dried, beaten ..then made into balls and used to make tea.... Nuff love 🇯🇲🇯🇲
My mum had a box like that (but from a different company) at one point, and it was really interesting. Especially the 100% one you could only eat a small bit per evening and had your fill of chocolate.
Being a Venezuelan myself, you have no idea how I love the last one.. I tasted chocolate from different countries and truly believe the Venezuelan cacao is one of the best.
I visited a cocoa farm in Hawaii and they explained that the wild boars break open the pods, eat the yummy flesh and then spit out the bitter cacao. This is the process of how new cocoa trees are planted in the wild! 🐷 pretty cool!

I've tried this set from Willie's a couple of years ago and I've fallen completely in love with this brand. Not only wonderful experience, but such a quality product as well!
I ended up buying a box of chocolate from Willie’s Cocoa [not the one shown, one with more citrus based flavours] & having it sent to a friend for Easter. Was great that it fitted through the letterbox so she had a great surprise when she got in from work. She loved all the wrappers & extras like the map & crib sheets. But she's still waxing lyrical about the quality & flavour of the chocolate now. She's a bit of a chocolate buff & thinks its the best tasting she's ever had & has taken her off on taste journeys like she's never experienced. So with her birthday coming up I think another selection from them is on the cards. So great call from all at Sorted for bringing it to my attention, many thanks.
Same here! I'm not interested in the Gordon Ramsays or the Jamie Olivers. Give me these guys every time. They are fun, honest, informative and the content is incredible.
Savoury is my go to, but I loooooove chocolate. So I’ve promised myself to buy some artisanal / fancy chocolate for Easter this year. Hope to find some ideas here…
If you want lovely Easter eggs that are high quality and ethically made, my two favorite makers for them are Hummingbird Chocolate and Soma Chocolate. They're both in Canada (so the US shipping can hurt) but Soma makes these gorgeous cocoa pod 'eggs' and Hummingbird sells what they call The Mega Egg - you have to just see it it's so cool!
One thing I learned from a chocolate tasting session was how the soil changed the taste of the chocolate. We tasted the same bean from the same country but one was from a region where the made coffe and one from some kind of fruit farm. And they each tasted coffe and fruit. So the soil is very important👌.
I absolutely love the concept of the discovery box. It would be a wonderful gift or a "spoil myself since I just got paid" type of thing. It may not be the preferred flavor of chocolate that you have, but learning and appreciating the flavors along the way is also a fun and educational experience.
Chocolate salami has been around forever. My 83 year old mom grew up on it as did I and I’m 55. It’s very common in Greece & Turkey, where we’re originally from. It’s also really easy to make at home.
@@SortedFood there’s a company called Moo Free - they do a Bunnycomb egg with chocolate buttons (completely vegan) and it’s super affordable. I know some vegan/vegetarian options can be more expensive, it’s something I struggle with but their egg is 2.99!
Chocolate. Salami is like the easiest we'll known dessert you can make here in Italy. Everybody knows about it, usually you do it with bisciutos inside
My favorite chocolate experience was tasting 4 different bars from the same estate, same % cocoa, cocoa butter and sugar but processed differently. They were amazing different.
The discovery box made me really excited....with my family being from Mexico I'm used to that kind of chocolate....this is a really good conversation piece
Last Christmas I gave my mum a big chocolate truffle in the shape of a small Brie, it came in a wooden box, wrapped up like a proper fancy deli cheese. She quite enjoyed it. I'll have to remember the salami for next year.
I find it so endearing that they find chocolate salami so novel, it's such a simple dessert over here, i even made it at pre-school once! And generally i just used to love it as a kid, top tier sweet
I’ve tried Willie’s Cacao and I find you get the fullest taste by letting it melt in your mouth for a while before you slowly chew. I think that releases the flavor best 😋
I fully agree with Jamie's point on the salamis. They look like fun, novelty christmas presents you'd get in a stocking or secret santa, that most would probably disregard in being low quality, all because of the packaging.
Absolutely love chocolate, for the last month I've been staring at the Easter eggs in shops trying to justify buying and always walk out empty handed. Very tempted to look into chococo. Those chocolate salamis (just by the packaging) look like they wouldn't be out of place at Christmas. Could even put them on a tree instead of crackers, just write a dad joke inside the wrapper and you're golden!
So cacao pulp is a product you can buy from some brands like Letterpress Chocolate and Cocoa Supply, which is much, much cheaper than buying cacao pods. (I think the cheapest whole pod I've seen was $25 a pod from Meridian Cacao, whereas the pulp packets are more like ~$4.) It's a really great way to try fresh cacao fruit without the cost!

Love seeing you guys present the cacao pod or in Brazil we call it the fruit. Though its not too common to see it sold as fruit throughout the country, when visiting cacao farms I had the opportunity to pick em fresh, crack em open and eat the fleshy bits while they were still soft and juicy. Never saw anyone bite into a raw seed just as you wouldn't bite through most other raw seeds. We did however save them and roast them, then eat bit of them, but they are too bitter for most pallets. When they did the big harvests, not only would they get the juice from them but if left in the fridge for even just a few days, it would ferment into a really nice sort of mead/cider.
