    I'm a little perplexed by your statement near the beginning of the video when you asked if the 935G Plus was 8x better than the UV-5R, then said no, and near the end of the video said that if superhet wasn't needed, you couldn't imagine any better option than the 935G Plus. Someone watching your video who was not familiar with either radio might be a little confused by these contradictory statements, but it occurs to me you may actually be correct. It isn't 8x better than the UV-5R, it's actually lot better than that. Since you didn't explain some of the really big features that makes the 935G Plus unique, and having owned and used both radios myself, perhaps I can add my comparison to help clear the confusion.
    Both the UV-5R and KG-935G Plus are direct conversion radios, but that's where the similarities end. Some of the differences like the the full color display are obvious, but others set the KG-935G way above it. Here are 10 things that make the KG-935G Plus better than the Baofeng UV-5R.
    12. It is a Part 95 GMRS radio, with an antenna tuned specifically for GMRS. (the UV-5R is capable of transmitting on the GMRS, but it isn't as clean)
    11. NOAA weather channels with 5 types of weather alerts (my UV-5R doesn't even have 1)
    10. The full color LCD display (the UV-5R has a monochrome display)
    9. Ten full multicolor display themes (the UV-5R only has a three color backlight)
    8. Two programmable side keys that can be customized for both long and short press to 16 different functions (the UV-5R has one key that is only programmable to 2 or 3)
    7. The Voice Guide is English only (The UV-5R defaults to Chinese when the radio is reset, and you have to figure out how to get it back to English (at least mine does)
    6. Favorite Channels feature (my UV-5R doesn't have that either)
    5. Two customizable message areas on the display for callsigns and such (my UV-5R only has 1 and it must be programmed through software)
    4. 999 programmable channels (my UV-5R only has 128)
    3. Pre-programmed to all 22 GMRS simplex and 8 repeater frequencies out of the box (the UV-5R requires programming)
    2. PF Key Quick Guide - instantly pulls up a list of all your programmable key assignments on the screen for reference (the UV-5R doesn't have that either)
    1. *Channel Wizard* An easy and fast way to clone a channel or program a new one directly from the keypad in less than a minute. (NO other radio has that)
    There are other features that were briefly mentioned in the video, such as the CTCSS/DCS scan, which the UV-5R does not have, and has other uses besides finding repeater tones. There were also features not mentioned in the video at all, such as standard and non-standard CTCSS/DCS, BRIGHT+ PF key option and Channel Groups. Only counting the ones numbered above, you are correct. The 935G Plus isn't 8x better than the UV-5R, it's 12x better!
    Perhaps you can do a follow up video that shows some of these features?
    Thanks for the video!

    Great video. I am also trying to decide between the 935G-plus and the 9GX. I too seem to like the 935G-plus a little better. I don’t need all the additional bands and preprogrammed frequencies of the 9GX, as I have a Uniden SDS100 digital scanner and love it.
    I also had the BTech GMRS Pro
    For one day and returned it. I
    could never get the compass to calibrate and the volume range seemed pre-programmed in steps!!You would want to lower the volume just a little and it would totally mute. I ended up getting a BTech GMRS V2 for $69 and love it. It’s a great radio if you’re looking for an inexpensive choice for a second radio. Only reason I want to get the 935G-plus is for the additional features and nicer display for when I use it at home or in my truck. Thanks again.

      We have walked the same radio path. SDS100 is indeed awesome. I was tempted by the Btech V2 as well but I just wanted 1 nice handheld and once I get my truck Ill probably get KG1000 down the road. Really like the 935 display is nice, easy to use and program. Leaps and bounds ahead of the Btech Pro. Let me know if you get end up getting and your thoughts on it.

    The Wouxun KG-UV9GX is the one I currently own.
    The Wouxun KG-935 Plus is the next one I may purchase because it does have a lot of nice features.

    The point of the UV9GX is not to be a scanner. It is a radio with many frequencies it can listen to, almost all of which are not digital. Police and Fire are only a tiny amount of the spectrum it can monitor. It has better build quality than the Baofang radios as well, though probably not enough to matter. It also has other features, too many to list here really. It's more of a matter of what you want. If you want cheap the UV5R is a great radio. You can have them in every vehicle, house and a couple spares and not cost much. The UV9GX is a great radio if you want a very capable radio with a lot of features and have the $ to do it. Notarubicon has probably reviewed the each of these so you can get a good analysis there.

      I have no issue with UV9GX or any radio for that matter. I'm not recommending it as a scanner UV9GX markets itself as SHTF radio/scanner (this their description: Wouxun KG-UV9GX GMRS Two-Way Radio & SHTF Scanner) but I was just pointing out that lot of areas it wouldn't be of use since all is digital. I was only interested in it for being superhet but like you said $$ for me just wasn't worth it.

    I am new to GMRS radios. I see your using something other than the whip antenna. Are you using a base station outside antenna and if you are does that help with connecting to other users or repeaters? You said something about churp software to interface this radio. Do you mind expanding on that and where I can get it?

    • @EDCraf
      @EDCraf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I got an external antenna, that I put outside my window and it does help with range and when I put it up on roof even better. If you using in base station setup external antenna would be good idea. Chirp chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home is free programming software, making it super easy to program settings and stations. Its reason why I returned my Btech GMRS Pro, among other reasons.

    Which antenna are you using with your KG-935G Plus?

      The factory antenna is superb, the 771G Nagoya is only a hair better on transmit, it would receive better because it is longer antenna

    How’s the display in the day / sunlight? I’ve seen some negative reviews of the Wouxun displays compared to others.

      Its pretty bad, I mean its visible but you do have to focus more or I just put hand to shade it.

    I wonder what your thoughts on the Wouxun KG Q10G would be?

    • @danielwymer1580
      @danielwymer1580 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s the one I own, and it is a superhet,the935g is direct conversion !! but the 935G is a very high end direct conversion ! The Q10 G is totally waterproof, the 935G is splashproof. the voice clarity on the Q10 G is excellent

      I like the keypad on the Q 10 G better also, it’s in the middle, not on the bottom of the radio, makes it easier to operate the buttons.
