I've recently brought a few decks into my life and I am like a kid at Christmas. Open them up, smell the cards. Get all the excited feels out of the way then I go through the cards, mainly to make sure all are there. Ofcourse I'll note which cards confuse me, as in why that art? Or that is amazing, or nope. I will shuffle cause I want to know how it feels in my hands, what kind of shuffle they like - are they a side riffle or over-hand? Or both. Is this an intentional pull or a deck that likes to choose? Then I will put back in order and they go away until I'm ready to dance with the deck. I have found each deck has had a unique bonding process after that. Which is also exciting. So right now I am bonding with a new-to -me-deck and we have chosen a tarot challenge. Which is new, to me at least. My last bonding deck was a few games, playing with the deck and through play I found the decks' feel and voice. It even has its own playlist. Then we were able to dance together, just like I envisioned when I first saw the deck. 3yrs later!
❤️ I love this “each deck has had a unique bonding process”. So true! Like, I apply this same process with every deck, but that’s only the beginning. And your comment is such a good reminder of that. Thank you 🙏🏻
"i feel like ill be teaching with this deck." - Jessica says in the video where she's literally using this deck to teach how she bonds to a deck lol. love it.
Love love love this! Would love to se more like "tarot in practice" videos from you. Maybe how you use it for yourself daily? If you want of course. Also this deck is GORGEOUS. The artwork and symbolism is just STUNNING!
Thanks so much Karin ❤️ I’m glad you enjoyed it. And yes, the deck is so lovely. I’m thinking about the kinds of videos I’d like to make at the moment. I’ve added more daily practice type stuff to my list so thank you for that 🙏🏻
Yay! I was hoping to see a new video of you today! 🙂 I love your practice. I do a very similar one. Its part of the joy of getting a new deck : the ritual, the discovery, the sacred time set aside to open it. I love it! I usually read the guidebook only for the cards I picked, especially with oracle decks, but for tarot, I see the appeal. Tarot deck is a journey, so I never thought that the guidebook could be read like a book. I love this. I am going to pick up all my tarot guidebook and start reading. I do love the idea to do this to get reacquainted with a deck that I got disconnected from it. I usually sell the deck instead, but that is such a good analogy and great idea. I will try it. Great video! 🧡
❤️ thank you for this lovely comment Rose-Marie 🙏🏻 It sounds like you have a solid bonding routine in place. It really makes such a difference when reading with those cards. Warmest blessings X
This is such a lovely deck! I had to stop half way through and go check it out! 😂 But I won't get it... I'm happy to enjoy from afar! 😄 And what a great first reading you got! So funny about the hierophant in this teaching video 😄 You definitely shuffled them enough, that was totally legitimate! 😂 You've made me think about which of my decks I'm not very connected with, and there's not many of them, to be fair to be. I definitely agree about the tactile connection you make when you're shuffling the deck - that's so important for me! 👌
Thanks Elaine 🙏🏻 I’m glad you enjoyed it. The deck is lovely (I could lend it to you at some point if you’d like to try it out). And yeah - lol at that hierophant coming out in the present position - like duh! 😆❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom, Jessica! You really are a gifted teacher, I hope you realize that. ☺️ The Strength card from the Sufi tarot looks so beautiful! Have you started working with the deck yet? I hope you will enjoy your time together. We have the same practice for getting to know our new decks, it seems. It is so rewarding to really spend that time with a new deck. But also difficult to ignore your other beloved decks. Since the start of the Libra New Moon, I have been working with the Tarot of the Hidden Realm. I think we have a bit of a love affair going on… haha! It might be my soul-deck… 🥰
Thank you so much for your lovely comment ❤️ I haven’t started working with the Sufi deck yet because I had a few new decks coming into my collection at the same time and I’m focusing on the Guardian of the Night tarot this month, which is also beautiful ☺️
thank you for this video! I have a bunch a decks that I don't let anyone touch but I have only bonded with one. My first one. I'm excited to do this with my others.
Loved this…. I find it’s such a special time with a new deck. I have quite a few decks and feel terrible that I’m not using them 🙁…. but there are such beautiful decks out there!!!!! I like this reconnecting and using them for a month. Perhaps it’s time to have a good look at my decks. You have inspired me 🙂Loved it. 🌟🍒
I may have mentioned but I got all these pretty decks when I first started tarot but my use of them was so scattered and I didn't feel like I was bonding to anything. So now I decided to use one deck only from new moon to new moon. So this month I'm using the Light Seer's and in the guidebook she suggests going through all the cards and just going by the artwork pick one card that you vibe with the most and one card that turns you off the most. If they come up in a reading the first is your light/YES/you're on the right track card. The second is your dark/NO/try another way card. I really liked that approach because it made me look carefully at every single card and connect with it emotionally.
❤️ I’m so glad you’ve found a way that works for you Rachel. I’d forgotten it said that in the light Seers book, so thank you for the reminder (good nudge that I need to revisit the book with that one).
I love that you said "view it as a conversation". That really helped something to click in my head on how to deepen my readings and also how to use clarifying cards. Thank you!!!

Bonjour, nice video thanks. But I don’t 👀 the links for the star tarot… 🌼
Hi, Bonjour, Sorry I didn't put the link. It is amzn.to/3Daoz7e

Yay!! I’m so glad you found that helpful Jen ❤️ I definitely see it as a conversation, a relationship.
