OMG I LOVE THIS and I'm SO glad you're doing a new series on bonding with new decks. LOVE LOVE LOVE. And I LOVE that you chose the Tarot of the Magical Forest for this. I'm so thrilled to have mine back and I can't wait to re-trim and edge it LOL Such a great little deck! I'm so glad Barb got it back in my hands and INTO yours! 😍😍
Sameeeee!!! I’m so grateful to have this fun little deck in my collection! I’m definitely going to get my mod on with this one and this was the perfect deck to start this off with some light and adorable characters😁♥️
This was such a fun video. ✨ I was laughing because the cards that were your favourites aren’t ones I like the most and the ones you least liked, I love!!! 😂🤣😂 I have this deck too. I trimmed the borders off and edged mine in green. I think it’s such an awesome little deck. 💕 Sending you heaps of love and light ❤️😘
I’m definitely adding this one to my modification list! 😆🙌I love that we all have such different perspectives on the same art! It makes life so fun and really helps broaden the mind in terms of meanings and layers to the cards! Sending much love 💕
Holy crap I LOST MY MIND when Queen of Wands flew out! Thanks so much for this video, I really like these tips. The favorite-least favorite suggestion is awesome and I'm totally going to start doing that. I tried it with the Dreaming Way tarot while watching the video and it was great! It's nice to make a quick gut decision with each card. It sorta feels like a more active engagement with the deck than "just" looking at it, you know?
Honestly, I totally did too LOL 😂 I really love doing it quickly and basing it on instinct alone because I can always change my mind, you know, but it’s really fun to play with those gut reactions and then dissect it from there!
Hi Dani! What a great exercise to go through with a new deck. I have so many decks that are just sitting in boxes because I still haven't bonded with them enough to do readings. I always run to my go-tos. But this is such a great help. Something that I started doing recently was using my new decks to do quick readings that help me decide what kind of art to create. And what I love about this process is that the reading isn't meant to advise people on making life decisions, it just for making art. So there's no pressure. It's just a fun, creative way to get to know my decks better. I've been having so much fun posting videos about this process. I'm definitely going to be using your tips for my decks that have been piling up. Thanks so much for sharing!
I love doing that as well for all the creative things!! I do storytelling, I'll pull a card and do a junk journal spread, sometimes I will pull one to inspire my sketchbook practice-they are such a versatile tool.
I love these ideas! I’ve never heard anyone talk about shuffling so much and seeing how the cards feel and move when you first get a deck. But it’s such a great idea! I’m definitely going to start spending a lot more time handling my decks now. Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait for the other videos in this series 😊
Shuffling is a big thing for me because I am very much into the tactile experience of the cards as I connect! I like to know how they’ll feel and move in my hands and on the table! Thanks so much for watching 💕
I have close to 170 decks....(maybe more)I clear the previous energy and touch each card during the flip through. I bless my deck and I ask the deck to introduce itself to me. I usually write in the guidebook where the Sun and Moon were when I got the deck. I do it with every deck I get! Some decks I sleep with too! I love your energy!
I just love your videos, I feel like my sister is here with me in my living room and we're just hanging out, talking and laughing. So, I never wanted this deck until today, lol. Thank you for this video, this helped me bring a idea I've had into a solid direction.
Really great ideas for that initial bonding! I often do the pile thing when I'm trying to figure out if I want to keep a deck in my collection, but never thought to do it upon greeting a deck! Very cool! ❤️
I love this method. I'll have to try the piles with my ceccoli tarot, I just have so much trouble bonding with that deck. I keep it sitting out hoping I'll pick it up and work with it but it just glares at me and mocks me 😂 thanks for sharing your methods with us.
I really enjoy the Ceccoli. But if you're having a hard time with it, have you asked it "What do I need to know about working with you?" Or "How can I best/most effectively work with you?" And drawing a few cards. I've found that can really help me with a deck I'm just not sure about. It might also just not be the right time for you to work with that specific deck. Some decks I only work with for specific types of readings or moods or times of the year. Hope you connect with it eventually. 😊💖
Love this method! Gotta pull out my Froud book and read more about it! The whole time you shared the Queen of Wands and the Emperor, all I could see is that the Emperor is the Queen reversed. The color palette is opposite, the picture is opposite. He's near the top of the card with a brown throne and red carpet, whereas she's at the bottom of the card with a red thrown and brown ground. She has blue, a happy color, in the background and he doesn't, his eyes are so much larger they're staring at us, very confronting, no smile, whereas she has a smile on her face and looks surprised rather than confronting. It's interesting how opposite they are!
Really enjoyed this! I rehomed my Faeries oracle, got it back, and rehomed it again. I loved the guidebook as well, but never thought to use the same "get to know" practice for other decks. Thanks for sharing! Blessings 💜
I found this so useful. I have a bunch of decks. Quite a crowd. You've given me a tool to get to understand why I collected them and to hear my guides. You're a blessing. Thanks my dear.
The Hangman is my favorite card in this deck. Brother Bat is what they call him. He is adorbs to the max. I love bats to begin with. The 7 of wands is my second favorite. It is the frogs stance and face.
Just found this series, and already finding it helpful - thank you! I knew about the "sort into three piles" exercise, but haven't seen anyone take it into so much depth before.
I loved this, and, thank you so much... now onto watch the others! I appreciate when people take the time to break down how they work with their decks. Thank you again!
Dani, I adore your personality & videos. I’ve been going through a pretty trying period & watching your videos (and a few other lovely ladies) not only am I learning so much (beginner) but they’re helping me tremendously, so thank you. I love learning about divination from the wisdom of others as well as gaining experience on my own. I also love collecting, but don’t we all? Lol Thank you for these videos & teachings, I truly am so grateful. 💜
Absolutely love this! I'm still pretty new to tarot and I am developing my own ways of bonding, I like that these are simple and feel like I could naturally incorporate it into my process. I've done a few deck interviews (tarot and oracle) and I really enjoyed it because it allowed me to really sit with the deck for a while and understand it's system and meanings while personally connecting with the deck's voice. I take notes so I love to go back and reread. I've also chosen a favorite right off the bat and read about it, but I haven't done a least favorite, so I'm going to try that! Looking forward to the next video(s) on this! 💖
Love these ideas!! I’ve never tried that idea of picking your most and least favorite card from a deck but I can see how that would really give you some insights on how you will ultimately relate to it...new things to try!! 😊💖
I'm literally a tarot virgin - I just ordered my first deck and am waiting (im)patiently to get started. This video was great in showing me how I can get acquainted with the cards. I'm super excited to see them, hold them, caress them, etc. Lol! Thanks so much! I've already fallen in love with your personality! P.S. My jaw dropped when your froggy card flew right out of the deck! You must have been drawn to her for a reason.
Thank you so much for watching! I really hope it helps you bond with your new deck! Honestly, I was legitimately shook when she popped out! I was so excited!
Super excited about this series! I tried the favorite/least favorite card activity you mentioned and in the end, I ended up liking my least favorite card so much more. It helped me appreciate and understand it along with my feelings towards it. Super helpful 👍🏼
I just bought my first deck of Mystic Dreamer tarot and starseed oracle "Decks" 😁. I know nothing except that I've wanted these my whole life and had people hold me back from it. I finally am trying to live my truth and I know this is part of it. The very first. I want to bond with my cards on a deep level 💚 Love & Light to All.
Excellent video! Thanks for reminding me about the Love/Like/Dislike first impressions of a deck technique. I'd heard about that before, a LONG time ago, and I'd forgotten about that. Definitely gonna try it with the next deck I get or some of my recent additions. I also like to look through and make sure all the cards are there and there's no misprints on the cards. It doesn't happen often, but on rare occasions a card will be missing or misprinted or there will be 2 of 1 card. So that's the very first thing I do when I get a new deck. Looking forward to part 2. 😊💖
Thanks. I’m going to try your method. I’ve been interested in this deck for awhile but don’t like the multiple languages on older lists scarabeo decks. I saw a great modified version with borders and labels trimmed off but I’m afraid I’d mess it up.
What an extraordinary video! Your energy is incredible. The vibe coming from you rocks. I’m still feeling my way and this is so useful. I have not put in enough time with my decks but tats about to change 🙏🙏
Omg, I love this deck. I see the Emperor as looking stunned. Like held at gun point.... back in the day, each year a "King" was selected and at the winter solstice (I think or Spring Equinox) was sacrificed for the Goddess, to prove our devotion and payment for the following harvest. A pig really works for that. Hahaha. However you mentioned Animal Farm, that effected me when I watched that as a little girl. In the Wild Unknown Tarot the 5 of cups reminds me of that horse. Depression, despair and feelings of all that you were led to belive was true, is a lie. By the end he wanted to die. It's my favourite card in the Wild Unknown... so now you've given me the juxtaposition of the 5 of cups wuk and emperor tomf. Thanks Dani. Hahaha!
Oh I got chills when you mentioned the horse! Oh so sad! I never connected it with TWU but now I can’t unsee it!! Haha! You are so right, the pig really does work in that context! That sacrifice didn’t come to mind! Thank you 🙌
I have a new deck arriving next week and I'm really excited to go through this video with it especially because the titles for the cards are in spanish.

It’s definitely a personal preference, so it depends on what you’re wanting, willing, can handle when it comes to images. If it’s all too much, I would definitely say it’s not for you.
Ok... your hair is super cute today 😊. Super cringe on the Animal Farm reference. That leaves me with so many questions about the deck. Like, are there other pigs? What suit are they? Is the IMPRA really that bad or just misunderstood? LOL. I guess I need to deck. Most likely my least favorite card would be something totally different.
I luuuuvv to shuffle too. It soothes me. Especially a new deck. I'll sit through an entire movie and shuffle the whole time.

I hope this helps! Especially for the Ceccoli, going in with a “playful” mindset always helps me work with that deck better!
I really enjoy the Ceccoli. But if you're having a hard time with it, have you asked it "What do I need to know about working with you?" Or "How can I best/most effectively work with you?"
