- It was time for the U.S. Navy to get back on track after Pearl Harbor, and in the four-day Battle for the Coral Sea they won victory over the Japanese, before defeating them again in the decisive battle. from Midway. Elsewhere, the Luftwaffe again began to target more British towns in Baedeker's raids.

Excellent detailed documentary on this tragic history. I think this honors those brave Americans who fought this war.
these videos are rarely seen footage of real soldiers and events from the period and not the usual chaff.
As an educational tool this works on so many levels

The B-17 on Hickman field caught fire after the flare were ignited by the bullets from Japanese Fighters. My Grandfathers plane. He was the bombardier. Cadet at the time. He was shot twice the day. Once in the shoulder in flight the other strafed on the ground and through his left leg nearly severing it. He finished the War as A Captain in B-24’s. Captain G.C.(Tex)Beale

They may not have done much damage, and could not know it at the time, but the Tokyo raiders caused the Japanese into a series of increasingly fatal miscalculations. In its way, it was game changing.
I've nothing but respect for those who fought the Imperial Japanese, honestly safer to take ones chances with the sharks of the pacific as they were probably more merciful.

Depois o pessoal fica falando que não deviam ter jogados as bombas, infelizmente uma guerra é cruel e os Japoneses também fizeram a parte suja dessa guerra. Claro, que muitas vidas inocentes pagaram por isso.

Nice docco, but I was a bit concerned about some obvious errors, like the B29 footage whilst narrating about the Doolittle raid, and the comment on how the bombing of Darwin was worse than Pearl Harbour (really?). Little things like that take the polish off of a nice product.

The US expected Japan to attack sooner, but Japan waited until the very last moment to try to resolve the US-Japan issue diplomatically, so the attack was delayed by almost a year. The US wanted to enter the war sooner.

I like how the narrator said the B25 were highly modified. Yeah most of the defensive machine guns were removed replaced by broom sticks painted black to fool Japanese fighters the machine guns were still mounted. Also the other modifications were several Jerry cans of gas placed on broard the bombers to extend the range. The modifications were the pilots were highly motivated and had the guts to complete the mission.

Whoever produced this film should be more accurate with the facts. For example, a B-29 was depicted on the Doolittle raid. This sloppy at best and you have lost a certain degree of credibility.
