    Another option if you are into XC then ride silent swamp to the end and connect to the bottom of Preston and climb, climb, climb. Solid 30 minutes at 6-7% grade, technical at the beginning. Preston was the original and only Tiger trail just a few years ago. You climbed on the dirt road and then Preston down. We call this regiT .... tiger backwards... not very many people try it. It will make you better cyclist....

      Love this historical note! Thanks for posting, Pablo! That’s a burly climb.

    Claire, such a great job and the map work is super clear and understandable. Your TH-cam skills have gotten really good. I still think you should consider doing instructional mtb skill videos.

      Thanks for kudos, William! I really appreciate your support. If I was to make a series, what are some of the skills you’d be interested in?

      @@ClaireJencks, technical climbing, proper berm techniques, (most people just ride down them as fast as they can and then brake when they get scared,) clearing large roots and boulders, handling small jumps and drops, proper stance on decents...etc. Most new riders are in there late 40’s to late 50’s. They can finally afford a really nice bike but they don’t know how to ride it and this ultimately leads to injury and/or losing interest out of fear of injury.

      This is awesome William. I’ll mull on it and see what I can make happen. Out of curiosity, I notice there are a lot of tutorials out there on TH-cam - what do think is lacking in them for this older group specifically? (Asking bc I agree with you and would like to hear your thoughts rather than my assumptions).

    • @williammarshall4277
      @williammarshall4277 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the tutorials are pretty intense and skip a lot of basics....”how to clear a 20ft double!” There are not a lot of mtb tutorials that speak to your average out of shape middle aged Joe. I think a series focused on both some fitness goals and learning basic skills would be popular. As an example, the first time I went to tiger mountain I had watched one of your trail videos as a kind of guide. I thought I was in fairly decent shape, but the climb up to the top just about killed me and the ride down was pretty much pure survival mode...lol. It seems like there could be a series of videos that puts the skills and the fitness together that culminated in the big ride down Tiger. I was a rugby coach for a big chunk of my life and so I think I’m looking for some kind of “this is the goal, this is how you get there series of videos. I think you would be good at that.

    FINE Claire you twisted my leg I guess I'm going on Saturday. I'm definitely not good enough for any blacks. How about MasterLink>Inside Passage>Silent Swamp>Silent Swam back>Joyride>Northwest Timber?

    • @ClaireJencks
      @ClaireJencks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      :) yay! I’d go Inside Passage > Joyride > Legend > NW Timber. Silent swamp is...slow. The great thing about Legend is that everything is very walkable - it rides well at any speed so you can take it slow and steady. Aka, I’d rate it an intermediate trail with walkable features. Get laps on it by taking easy tiger back on up.

    Great route! Love doing this same path but building up my confidence to do all of ebad. Is the Boulder on megafauna rollable?
    Thanks so much for these great videos!!

      Rollable. But even better there's a blue ride around.

    • @ClaireJencks
      @ClaireJencks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with Nick - it is rollable depending on your travel but the landing is quite flat so I’d recommend scouting it or taking the route around it.
