    You guys deserve a lot more subscribers. Great episode and thank you for sharing. I can imagine both of your heads spinning with ideas for your new boat :)). Your daughter has grown so much and you guys are doing an awesome job raising her, she is such a happy and well behaved little girl.

    It has been such a joy to watch Vera grow up.
    She’s so independent now, soon she will be telling you how to sail!
    I really liked the solid rail with the safety wire below it. It just looked more refined.
    I am sure you came home with a lot of ideas that will have made the trip well worth it, not to mention the fun you had.

    Johan is like a kid in a candy store. I like the Wauquiez and the Allures, the Amel is too much like a Beneteau. Glad you all had a good time.

    • @SailingSnowGum
      @SailingSnowGum ปีที่แล้ว

      Amel vs Beneteau? Big difference in build quality! 🙂 I spent two days touring the Amel factory and sailing an Amel 50. It was very impressive and desirable, along with being a bit expensive, but quality will do that. Like the Garcias, it has a very comfortable and seakindly motion. And likewise, it's not a racing boat, but across an ocean it's the tortoise that wins the passengers' votes and quite possibly the race as well. 🙂 Regards, Rick.

    The double facing hatches at 8:18 are set up to allow you to open a hatch that matches the conditions and ventilation or spray entrance prevention goal you have.

    • @zeilgenot
      @zeilgenot ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand, but then I would position the forward opening hatch forward and the aft opening one aft ward looking.

    • @johnnybarbar7435
      @johnnybarbar7435 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zeilgenot Only difference I could see doing that is you have no spray protection with both opened but we all have our preferences and there is no wrong way if one is happy with the setup for their intended use.

    Lots of interesting ideas. I'm sure you will prioirtise things to your needs, and easily maintained. I like the lightning prevention system, althought it does seem quite heavy for 50 foot boat. The inconvenience, time, inability to navigate or communicate are good reasons to prevent a strike, let alone the cost.

    • @John-Nada
      @John-Nada ปีที่แล้ว

      Supposedly thousands have been installed so there should be some data available about how well these charge equalization units work. There have been recent news stories about laser lightning rods.

Look at his video on his new engine; it is a hybrid engine using diesel and electric with a straight shaft. Leo is rebuilding the boat in the US but he got the engine from Europe.

    Hello RAN , The two hatches that open against each other are not meant to open both at the same time. When at anchor, use the one that opens forward for maximum ventilation. If you're underway or it's raining lightly at anchor, use the one that opens aft. Great videos. Thanks.
