To me, THIS is their best cover. The simplicity, purity, and clarity are just phenomenal. And they make it look so easy!! You will be listening to my second favorite of theirs (Love is the Answer). The lead singer is CHASE.......and she will blow you away with her sheer power! Thank you for your reactions to this group!
The two girls, Maggie Adams and Sammi Purcell, were teens (now grown women) who sang in church choir together. Sammi's father Tim, knows talent when he hears it. And with the later addition of Chase Truran, these ladies are something special.
If you listen to that very first concert that included 'Suite' by CSN they were remarkably tight right out the gate. Tim says he can give the girls difficult harmony parts and they learn it so quickly its like nothing to it. There's no rehearsing together at all on the studio recordings.Everyone learns their part on their own time and records it. When they did these live gigs they had an all day rehearsal at the begining of summer and that was it.They were expected to just show up and nail it. The most gigs they ever played in a year was seven.
Jeff you discussed how the ladies blend - as you learn more about the group Tim Purcell (Sammie’s DAD) often talks about the very first time he heard Sammie and Maggie singing in his studio (it was America) and he could not believe what he heard. He has captured lightning in a bottle--the group is amazing . No wonder they are over 100 million views.
What I love about you Patreon is you point out every little detail from the beginning when to the end. They’re every comment mentioned before and after their song. From the single guitarist playing just an outstanding picking rifts to the impressive vocals of harmonization of tightness. Mahalo for simplest details. This group is solid from beginning to the end. A perfect name “Foxes and Fossils”. It suits them very well.🤙
This rendition immediately grabs my heart and drags me back to my childhood. My friends re-appear and the love of my life is at my side. Obviously this is some strange time warp machine from the future. I stand strong in defense ...
I get choked up almost every time I play this, sometimes teary. It's too short, so must be played at least twice. Jealous and wish I could be involved family/friend. Room for an aging bass vocal? Darwin gets down there pretty well. Maybe I could just learn to be a guitar tech or run cameras. Thank goodness we can record and replay this stuff.
Beautifully done by this wonderful family harmony ..... same way as CSN did it. For a five vocal rendition of this AND UNREAL HARMONIES .... try HOME FREE doing it .... they are better than any A Capella group and have a huge catalog to draw other songs from. GBjj
Jeff, I frequently learn something new from you while watching these videos. You sometimes mention the "tamber" of an artist's voice. Out of all the hundreds of times in my life that I've read the word "timbre" in print, I did not know it was pronounced "tamber", not "timber". I just looked it up, and I feel a little unschooled not knowing that. I hope I've never spoken the word with the wrong pronunciation. 😀
One of my personal favorites live in a parking lot but the remarkable thing is they do not practice it's natural read lynwessels comment can u believe no rehearsals!?
Loved your review of this one. The only criticism I have on this is that the song is way too short! That bucket always cracks me up. I mean, how much could they have really made towards college that way? None of the people in the band made much money from these shows. I think the girls got $75 each for a show at the Twisted Taco.
Tim said he often ended up paying the musicians (Scott, Johnny, Toby) out of his own pocket so that the “girls” could continue to gain experience singing live on stage.
This isn't bad to be honest. However as you have looked at Home Free before , you really MUST look at their version of this song. it blows this out of the water. not dissing these, but I bet you won't disagree if you watch it. pure genius
The youngsters at the front were all friends of the girls and attended multiple shows during the summer when the band performed. On other songs they join in/clap along, and even appear on stage with the band, singing ‘Ho Hey’ by The Lumineers (video on TH-cam).

Foxes and Fossils are one of the best things I've discovered on the internet.
Always beautiful harmonies!
Great cover !! Right on !!!
This group continues to amaze me.
That deserves a "wow". They truly nailed that song. I wish them all the success they deserve.
F & F are just good! Love your videos!

Another smooth trip back in time! Well done F&F!
Absurdly beautiful! Just tremendous

Its great but nothing will beat their cover of Suite Judy blue eyes thats awesome.

Perfectly suited song for this group. So well done.
Such a talented group. The songs they pick to cover are perfect for their talent.. love this group
I have really enjoyed this group since I found them on TH-cam. I hope they do another concert again. I want to see them live.
Man, I love the fact that good music brings tears to your eyes. Let's me know I'm not alone!

Probably the best sounding cover band ever to be performing outside at night at a Georgia taco joint. Amazing stuff always from this group.

Today is the Ten Year Anniversary of performing this song. Live Outside doesn't get any Better!! One of their Best!! Ralph Awesome Pic!!

Wow! Beautifully done!

Tim claims he stopped playing and the girls thought they were doing something wrong but it was tim couldnt believe the sound

crazy that the people in the front were turning their back to these musicians like they weren't there?
this was amazing 😍
Its friends of the girls who came to all the gigs. Had heard these songs all summer. Sitting at tables on a very small patio.

Jeff, check out Boondocks and America from the 1st concert
Both are already on the schedule - America July 12 and Boondocks is July 8. These dates are off of Jeff's schedule right now but is subject to change.

Hahaha, my music professor at CSUN drilled that one into my head! 😆

I'm sure they practice, just not together. There were multiple rehearsals before the big reunion concert, having not played live in 5 1/2 years.
@@lynwessel2471 yes for the reunion the documentary shows that but as for this video not really as u stated
@@jimbahneman6553Right, there really was very little repetition outside of performing the song for a few gigs before they recorded.

It always nothers me when patrons don't seem to be intetested in the music. Granted this is an eatery.

I feel Homefree did a better cover, if you want perfection. IMO
Please, while they are singing, stay quiet. Yes, they are incredible, but your oohs and aahs ruin it.

They never really practiced that much according to Tim. The ability to do this is just plain old God given talent.
They would have s big rehearsal weekend at the beginning of summer and then just show up at the gigs and play
