  • After hearing some of the songs from my Tolkien Project, Josh Tippey, an actor/author/filmmaker asked if I'd write an original song for the audiobook version of his novel The Waking Dream. After reading his book and thoroughly enjoying it, I was so excited to be able to write and arrange a song to his beautiful poem How Silver Shone the Sea (the song is available on Amazon: a.co/8XaGU3Y ).
THE WAKING DREAM, The Complete Audiobook, (available on Amazon: a.co/b24kC5g ) is read by Irene Bedard, an award winning actress, well known as the voice of Pocahontas in the Disney movie.
It was a pleasure working with Josh and Irene, and they really made me feel like a part of the project, even though I was many miles away.
We are so excited to share this song with you!

As a Tolkien scholar, I would like to postulate the notion that this might have been the last song that Maglor, the last of the mighty sons of Feanor sung in his final days when wandering the lost strands of Beleriand. Friendless, without the love of kin and beyond the hope of the redeemed Noldor he walked, the last Silmaril he cast into the sea for the shame of it. Yet the pain of his great loss remained, and only in harmony with the tragic call of the gulls beside Belegaer could his voice be heard, when at last he let the sea take him to his doom. Well done, young lady. You spin gold with every stroke of your pen.

What are you doing/ learning as a Tolkien scholar?

@@coraginterseder448 I read "The Two Towers" at the age of six in early 1978 and I have followed in the train of Professor Tolkien ever since. I spent the interim following his example of translating and sharing Old English works into Modern language for the benefit of those who wish to know, explaining them to modern audiences, trying to show his example of a life lived, trying to help those who wish to know more about JRRT and his life and the impact it has on our modern world, transliterating his faery languages into that which all can understand, and debating the theological, philological and literary mysteries of his work with both the learned and the student in order that everyone should understand and make all our lives better in a manner of which JRRT might have approved. One day I think that others might pass on the love of JRRT's works so that they may never be forgotten.

@@coraginterseder448 My dear friend, pick up any of Tolkien's works and follow where your heart desires! Remember that there's not just Arda but also Mister Bliss, Roverandom, Tree and Leaf, Farmer Giles of Ham, and the saga of Beowulf to name but a few. Tolkien's literary universe is a wide realm ripe for discovery. Set sail, and may a star shine upon your road! From time to time I would love to hear of your own very personal adventures. Do please send us missives of your great journey upon the Long Road on which JRRT travelled long ago.

@@RobertLocksley385 I will follow your advice once I've got time, but at the moment there's much to do for the science school.
I will read more of Tolkien's works, though I wonder if they could capture my heart like the story of Arda has done.
      Thank you.

Your music is absolutely beautiful. It's been a light in a dark time having lost my beautiful sister yesterday, she loved to play and sing, and loved the lord of the rings songs. This brings me comfort and reminds me so much of her already. She found the song of the seas poignant, and we will be playing your song at her funeral... Just beautiful. Thank you x

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a meaningful comment - especially during such a sorrowful time. I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you lost your dear sister, and how absolutely honored I am that you chose one of my songs to play at her funeral. I pray for God's blessings and healing for you and your family and that you would always hold on to hope.
