They used to build temporary wooden structures on that ice bridge every winter, it was somewhat of a tourist attraction. There was one particularly large building rebuilt ever year, until one year the ice sheet broke catastrophically and killed many people, this was at least 100 years ago.
I first saw the Falls in the 50s as a child. Have been back there several times since but never in winter. This videography is so well done. It is a wonderful way to experience the Falls in winter. Thank you!
I was just there in August of 2015. First saw the Falls in 1975 and was blown away by its power and beauty. After scorching hot Summers in Texas the green, serene, area and cool waters were very welcomed. Now all this frozen beauty is just amazing. Thanks for sharing.
😇 Niagara Falls is a must see😇 Ride Maid of the Mist. Also spend a few hours at Fort Niagara. Ride the Niagara River Jet Boats. Eat at the best Italian restaurants.
This is calming and thrilling at the same time. Could watch this all day. Isn't a deep powerful river so fascinating? I want to make it there one day. Thank you for sharing this
It's quite normal; nothing unusual; 2014 -15 were quite brutally cold winters in our region. Note though, that the river water still flows underneath the Ice Bridge.
They sure did. And people also died on those. Nowadays, it's not allowed to do so. However, that doesn't stop people: several years ago, a guy walked across the river in the winter from Canada to the States on the ice. He made it across to meet his girlfriend, but then they weren't able to actually climb up the cliff on the US side!!
@@allycatg9000 Yes about that guy who walked across, it was in the local papers several years ago, possibly around 2015 or so, something like that. I believe it must have been in Feb., because the angle of the story was that his girlfriend was waiting for him on the US bank and watched him cross the ice, and it was framed as a Valentine's Day story!!
The jet boat passenger docks are way downriver from here, down at the mouth of the Niagara River, at Niagara-On-The -Lake, which is where they've always been. They don't travel all the way upriver to the actual Falls. The Maid of the Mist passenger dock is right at the bottom of the Observation Tower on the U.S. side (see at 00:20) The Maid of the Mist winter storage dock is just downriver past the Rainbow Bridge, on the U.S. side (see at 04:58)

Amazing .
Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees dinosaur heads at 2:42
I saw it! The ice formations create interesting 'sculptures'!

you mean with the eye and the mouth with icicle "beard" facing to the right? Nope I don't see it.
Amie Marino yes The one to the far right at the bottom looks just like a Dinosaur head facing to the left that is so cool

@@RightInNiagara I knew it was illegal and dangerous, but I didn’t know people still would walk across, and died! That’s crazy!!!

Why would 2 people give this video thumbs down ?
because they hate the electric bill during winter? lol
marcus field Maybe it's only one person but they used both thumbs!
From California
what was the temperature like at that time?
