Oud Ispahan was my first introduction to Oud-Rose fragrances. I think it's very balanced, it has just the right amount of animalic funk which is balanced by the rose, in a way that Western noses would still appreciate. I agree with you on the similarities with "Leather Oud", I can definitely smell "Leather Oud" in "Oud Ispahan". I will definitely get a full bottle of Oud Ispahan in the future, I really like it and I think it's somewhat versatile. But I might check out Oud Palau if I get the chance.
Good review Ram, totally respect you POV! I think you mentioned it but from the outside looking in it is plain to see you moving away (deeper) into the oud waters which makes this feel "dated". In my minds-eye, everyone is at a different place in their journey so what is "dated" for you might very well be earth-shattering to a new nose. Again, I know you mentioned that, but you followed that thought by commenting this feels dated a few times....as I'm sure it does for you. For me, I've been in the game 20 plus years and while I don't wear this more than a few times a year, it feels fresh as a baby's skin when I get back around to wearing it. I think for the most part the rock never moves, its the traveler and for me, this is still a formidable rock indeed!

Hello, Ramsey 👋 Great review as always! I haven’t smelled Oud Ispahan. I have a bottle of Blessing Silence by The House of Oud and it really reminds me of Oud Palao, but a bit more refined. And you’re true, it can’t compete with indie/artisanal ouds like Oud Zhen, Oud Maximus… I’ve tried the new Taif Aoud, I like it, but it could be less expensive. I do get rubber smell in it, which is not my favorite aspect of this oud.
@@RamseytheRam Actually, most of their fragrances are not about Oud. But we really enjoy some of them. Our favourite is Cypress Shade, beautiful spring and summer fragrance. Real Oud oil from a distiller as you know has an entirely different profile and vibe via the complex nuances in the development on skin and clothing of course depending on the regions, quality of agarwood , age of wood and preparation/ distillation process and techniques to develop and refine the oil by an artisan . I enjoy artisanal concentrate far more then spray perfume concoctions personally as it’s a far deeper experience that is on an entire different level when you have some quality oils . I actually enjoy mixing the oils as a base and spraying apon them to layer and create very exotic scent profiles unique for myself to enjoy and of course those that get wafts when I roam . Great break down indeed and valid points on the pricing concepts . Very lucrative industry it is when you have a popular product.
