- On the latest episode of the Gates of Graceland, host Tom Brown and Graceland's Director of Archives Angie Marchese showcase Presley Cycles. Presley Cycles is an exhibit at Graceland's new entertainment and exhibit complex, Elvis Presley's Memphis.
In this episode, learn about Elvis' boats, motorcycles, trikes, golf carts and more. Which of the motorcycles were Elvis' favorite? Where did he enjoy going boating? How was the pink Jeep used at Graceland? Find out in the video!
UPDATE: Hi Elvis fans! Many of you have picked up on a mistake in this video. Elvis did not purchase any motorcycles in California, but he did bring his bikes from Memphis to use in Los Angeles. He did not drive them cross-country like he did his cars or bus. We apologize for the error, and we look forward to bringing you more Gates of Graceland videos. - The Team at Graceland

What about the stories told by members of the Memphis Mafia riding motorcycles in California?
I read in a book by a few of the guys that Elvis had a trailer that they used to take the motorcycles away from the house because the neighbors complained about the noise created by the guys on their motorcycles as they left to go riding in California.
There's a picture on internet of Elvis riding his bike right by Hillcrest 1174 gates.
How tall is Angie?
@@matclark70 awsome
👌
I love these shows Angie and Tom i love your conversation and fun way you present these great items that Elvis ❤️own thank you See you soon in Graceland !
I was born in Memphis in 1956 and grew up there. In 1967-69 we lived in a trailer park that was at Hwy 301 & Nail Road, we were neighbors to Elvis' Circle G Ranch. We used to see them out there riding horses and doing things at the Ranch.
My Horn Lake elementary school bus stopped at that gate every morning a picked up a little girl that was there.
Later in 1980 I was stationed in Friedberg in 1/32 Armor Bn. The same unit as Elvis was stationed with. I lived just down the street from his home in Bad Nauhiem Germany.
I remember when I was very young being IN that Pink Jeep. I also remember getting a swat on the butt for climbing on one of those white Lions at Gracelands entrance. MaMa must have taken us up there or someone invited us in. Thats all I can remember.
We saw him once coming out of Graceland on his Trike bike, I believe it was yellow or maybe gold.
Very small world indeed :)... and I am glad that Elvis was in mine! :)
Well thats my Elvis story :)
Thanks 😊 for the video I love 💕 Elvis
Love Elvis Cars Love Love ❤❤
It’s great to see Elvis wore a captains hat even in a modest ski boat. There’s just something about Black & White photos that really seem more artistic than color.
Love this series. Every new episode makes me want to go back to Memphis more and more, the new complex looks amazing
Great show as always....I love the way his possessions are so well maintained and that you are adding back things that had long since gone away. I will ask it but of course I know it is out of the question but an upstairs video would really seriously be the thing I would love to see. The office, the bedroom, Lisa's room - those things would be so great to see.
that would break the internet lol
Love these Gates of Graceland pieces by Tom. I had my dream fulfilled as a life long Elvis fan, by visiting Graceland (Tupelo and Sun Studios) in 2016. Angie has the best job in the world. Long live the King.
hey Tom and angie
I Love watching gates of graceland i was wondering if you done a episode about elvis's farm equipments and about his horses.
She has the Best job. Lol so awesome. I went there a few years back. But the Pink caddy was in London. So I’ll have to come back sometime
Amazing, Elvis was beautiful, what a special man
This was great! An episode dedicated just to Jumpsuits would be great! The maintenance and care while on tour, the designs, as well as transport while on tour would be cool. I've also always wanted to know where Elvis kept them while living at Graceland.
Totally agree
Another great episode!! FOR A FUTURE EPISODE IDEA: What about the grounds surrounding Graceland including the barns, garages, etc.
Fantastic episodes really enjoying the gates of Graceland , Tom and Angie can you talk about the tcb band and elvis relationship with his musicians that toured the us in the 70s a dynamite band lead by the greatest vocalist ever
Incredible piece of information. This is amazing! Makes me feel like I'm meeting Elvis and getting to know him ! Please keep doing more videos like this. This is amazing stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for another episode. I second the suggestion for an episode on Elvis' jumpsuits.
can't imagine being at a light....and the guy next to you in the other lane on the harley is Elvis...great stuff.
I love it all , but my favorites are the boats . We have one and its so old with the bubble windshield . Mine is blue and white . This lady had is in her basement and when her husband passed away she needed someone to take it off . She didn't even want to sell it . She said , I just want it out of my way , so my husband brought it home . Spent about $.98 buying a little part the motor needed and we still use it every year . We have some great memories with our boat too . Thanks for sharing all of this information with us .
I lived in Memphis for 10 years and I would love to move back to Memphis if I could get a job at Graceland lol
I just went to Graceland about 3 weeks ago in the complex it's amazing everything at Graceland is awesome stayed at the guest house I plan on going to back soon I've only been to Graceland about 7 times! I love Graceland I love Memphis Tennessee I love Beale Street I love Sun Records I love everything in Memphis Tennessee
How did you manage to stay on the actual grounds of Elvis' home? I thought people had to leave after the tour?
Went to Graceland way back in 87,very hurried tour. I would love to go back, wasn't allowed in kitchen back then.
Another good episode. Thanks Tom and Angie.
I agree with "G-man Scam Patrol" That would make A nice show. Thank you Angie & Tom for this wonderful video!
No Thank you vury much
fyi, those boat styles were called RUNABOUTS , you did anything on the water, ski, fish, just run around. my grandfather had one, tonnes of fun..
Always like info on Elvis and his life. Thank u for sharing. Would like to see more. Thank u.
I think it would be great to do an episode on Elvis's jumpsuits and how they were cleaned and cared for on tour. I know the 77 tours he mainly wore the sundial suit and it looked freshly cleaned on each outing and I am sure it was but how was this done. Were they washed in a bath tub at the hotel? Thanks for any consideration.
G-man Scam Patrol Adorei seu pedido
Yes,would love that too.
Elvis had to wear a lot of cologne combined with band members being too scared to tell him he stank. Just kidding. I remember an interview with a nephew of Colonel Tom Parker that traveled with them and he said he wore many hats, helping with concessions, helping at each event selling Tshirts and souvenirs and handling all of the outfits to local dry cleaners where ever they happened to be.
Thank You, Thank You very much !!!!!
Wonderful wish I could see these exhibits.
I love these. Thanks so much.
He did have bikes in LA
Specially you can see pics of him at the his Hillcrest house.
I love all his rides
Awsome Elvis Presley Great Guy
I believe if Elvis had a specific bike he liked he would have it sent wherever he planned on going to. He also owned a few he kept at his different homes, whether Los Angeles or Memphis. Pictures can be found almost everywhere, him on a motorcycle in LA, especially at his Hillcrest home in Beverly Hills CA,
Pictures can be found of him ridding in or out of his driveway and sometimes greeting his fans at the Hillcrest property, many things he enjoyed doing, and saying “hello” to his fans was definitely one of them.
Some stories his entourage also mentioned which also can be found online is how everyone in the group that was with Elvis would have their own motorcycle in Palm Springs Ca, they also perhaps may have also kept theirs their or had it sent in from Memphis, because everyone knows if Elvis bought something, everyone around him would get one also as a gift.
Stories are told of his late night rides in the desert:)
What a great fun video...done very well too :) Thanks so much.
Cool, Love It!!
I liked that he actually used the vehicles he and, didn't just have them on display like they are now. They could give people a guided tour in them. Id be interested in the tricikes. I think it would be easier to ride than a motorcycle.
Awesome video, love that episode, I wanna go there some day 😄👍🏻
Amazing always look forward seeing these videos !
Where did Elvis keep all these vehicles that are in the museum? There are so many!
There are photos of Elvis at Hill crest on the red and black chopper, it looks like a fan may have taken several photos as he rode back through the gates at Hill crest.
This is wonderful, I’m planning my first trip!!
Toujours de biens beaux contenues...Bien apprécier. Thank you !
Luv the videos awsome
This was a great episode! Can't wait to see all of this in the new digs. Love Tom and Angie!! I have to ask when looking at the "Keep On Trucking" license frame, looks like the left sticker has the Graceland gates on it.
He’s beautiful! Love all his toys
Correction Angie, Elvis used the 66 chopper in California. Theres a picture of him at his Hillcrest home by the gates on it....
Here a link to one pic of him in CA at Hillcrest home...
goo.gl/images/oWf1D6
I had the same Honda as Elvis in his film Roustabout.
Fantastic! Love It!
Another great episode!
I believe Jerry Schilling talks about Elvis buying all the guys bikes while in California. In fact the neighbors complained about the noise so he got a vehicle to transport the bikes in and out.
Wow beautiful
There's quite a few pics of E on a bike coming out of Hillcrest. The Red Harley was used in California as per a Elvis Documentary from the early 80s after Graceland opened. Come on. Lol there's lots of info for sure.
Youre killing that jacket. Tom.
MR.PRESLEY HAD A CHOPPER ! AHHHH A MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART ! WOOOO HOOOOO ! 🐯
50 years since the 68 Comeback Special. Hows about something on that?
I loved it!!!
I thought when he would visit Ann-Margret in California they went motorcycle riding together. I'll have to check it in her autobiography book I have.
Great video! But there are photos of Elvis with his Harley Chopper at Hillcrest 1971.
The laundry room downstairs in the house, would love to see that.
such cool vehicles !
I had the exact red Rupp Centaur 2 seat trike Elvis had in the same color. Powered by a two-cycle 340 CC Kohler snowmobile engine they were extremely unreliable and only made 2 years. The custom Barris VW trike he got, I'm sure put the Rupp in the garage. Though I have seen Elvis on the Barris VW trike and Billy Smith on the Rupp
Graceland' Did you find the white Harley yet? and how about the helmets Elvis used with his bikes...
You guys should show us his gun collection and jewelry I'd love to hear stories about them
What’s better than one Harley two harleys!!!! Elvis knew a legend when he saw one that’s why he only had the best
Hey Angie, what about the slot car racing set E had in the 60s? Surely that shd be on display especially in the car section. Do you think it's possible?
The slot car track was destroyed. A couple of slot cars are on display.
Wow!wow!wow!!!super!!
The best 😘
Disfrutó de los juguetes favoritos de Elvis, porque el era como un pequeño niño..qué adoraba coleccionar autos, motos y todo lo que tenía ruedas y motor le fascinaba!!🚘🚘🚘 gracias..siempre!! 🚘💋🚘💋🚘💋🚘👍👍👍👍👍
When it's my time to go out of this world. I will go visit Grasland . That I never have been.
Isn't there a picture of Elvis in California on a Harley in front of the Cornell Market on Mulholland Drive?
The chopper he had in California. There's pictures of him at the gates ( Half that I bought in late 60s and had until the Medcenter and 70s
Sorry autocorrect miss this post up. The one above. I need a new phone I guess. However he had the chopper in California in the house that he owned from the mid late 1960's to the mid 1970's there a few pictures of him coming and going through the gates. The chopper is a "1966 shovel / pan head. The first year of the Showerhead they used a Panhead block. I believe he got that in 1970. And Percilla at sportster California
Indeed! It's not correct in that the bikes were only used in Memphis. As you rightly say, the chopper for one was used at the Hillcrest house in LA, plenty bikes used at Perugia Way house also.
He and Ann-Margret used to go out on bikes as well.
I’ve seen some of those in the old display. Where were the new ones housed until they were put on display in the new building?
I always wandered were is the two seat bike that Elvis used to ride while on the MGM lot. Angie could try to track it down for us!!
That was presented to the British fan club to be auctioned for charity in 1970. The event in England is in the original That's The Way It Is movie
Sure Jenny. I wonder where is it NOW? lol... Does it stil exist?
Love the video
On Elvis 75 Harley did it have a cassette player and the helmets wired for sound? how about a cassette of Freddy Fender stored in the bike? Just curious....it was said he liked a variety of music and Fender was big back then. Elvis did have a lot of man toys..
It's called a buddy seat, it's a big seat for 2 passangers
One thing Elvis didn’t own was a yacht !
great video TCB TCE
Cool lady.Reminds me of a girl I know, Kathy Luker, Bradley.
Tom where did you get your Elvis t shirt been looking for one since i'm an fan
🙋muito lindoo tudo era de Elvis parabéns que cuida todas coisas dele lindoo⭐⭐🌻🌻🌻🌻
Imagina hoje se Elvis estivesse vivo qual seriam seus brinquedos motorizados!
I’m wondering if the vehicles are kept in running order?
Whatever happened to the Kathleen Selph bike?
That’s why they call it a, Buddy Seat
12:08 I don't know if it's because he's moving or some other reason but this photo doesn't even look like Elvis to me.
elvis had cool Harley bikes
She was wrong about E not having motorcycles in CA. There are pictures of him riding at the Hillcrest location in CA and MM on some in the driveway. Google it
5:32 I have a picture of him his cousin Bobby on a trike
you said elvis did not own any bikes in california but there are storied about him and the guys pissing off the neighbors for riding their bikes around bel air
What's the story on the John Deere tractor
😍🌷🌷🌷🌷❤❤❤❤
Brown really doesn't know anything about bikes haha. Great video though
WHY??? is that guy WORKING there??..I mean..he NEVER KNOWS A THING!.. about Elvis!...LOL...IT'S TRUE!..
Im sure he knows plenty about Elvis. He is playing the roll so he can have Angie tell us. The interviewer feeds the questions so she has a part in the episodes to explain. Its the back and forth conversation that makes the show.
I know the routine...But he has NEVER known anything about Elvis..that even the most neophyte would know... He was a BAD choice...for 'anything Elvis'...as a representative..
@@Rowlandph We could see 2x as much stuff if they got rid of him and just had Angie.
Angie looks like she has lost weight.... well done to her she looks great..
Fat shaming is inappropriate. Why do you even talk about her weight? You wouldn’t if it was a guy. Don’t be a deucebag
Elvis has turned into a Disneyland attraction.. how sad
Why Thanka vury much
Would be awesome to have maybe a tell all video about the upstairs at Graceland. Understand it won’t be shown but maybe show some different things from upstairs and tell us some things we don’t know about it.
