I cracked out my House Of Secrets 92 CGC 6.0 to filp through the pages of the first appearance of Swamp Thing by Bernie Wrightson & Len Wein. One of the greatest bronze age comics of all time.

Nothing starts my day better than seeing a classic book un-slabbed! I recently got my hands on the latest HoS 92 facsimile DC put out (I had to sport for the Kelley Jones Beetlejuice cover, of course) and realized that while I'd read the lead in Swamp Thing story a bajillion times, mainly due to it being printed in the Alan Moore run, I'd never read any of the other stories in that issue. Also props on the theme logo!
LOOKOUT! HE'S FREE!!! Always a treat to have you page thru a book with your enthusiasm and little-know-facts added to the mix! Trying to follow the careers of these creators can be exhausting, but always love to hear their stories. This tale is short, but very rich! You can get lost in his details. I was able to grab a facsimile so I can enjoy this issue without the prohibitve costs associated.
To all those who may want to collect Berni's run, is it HoS #92 and the first 10 issues of Swamp Thing?

That's it! The Bernie run lasted the first 10 and HOS 92, but you should definitely seek out the Alan Moore run after that, it's one of the all time bests
I just completed my Swamp thing collection as well. Took just over a year and a half to collect 1-10 and then saved up for House of Secrets 92. Love the story and the art. My favorite run I own.

I’ve seen the cover many times but it’s cool to finally see the story. What a heartbreaking final panel, did not expect that at all. It was awesome!
They really did a great job creating an emotional story in such a short page count!
I have no issue with people preserving comics through grading, but I must admit it makes me pretty happy to see such an iconic comic cracked open and enjoyed as intended. Big respect Dave, and it was a great video
There's obviously some comics I would never do that to, like Tec 27 (if I had one) but it definitely feels good to free it and read it, and if I ever want to entomb it again, I can! (I most likely won't)

Yeah I haven't seen the recolored versions yet, but if it's as good as what he's done with Corben or Jones, then I'm in!

Dude I just got my own copy about a week ago. Believe it or not it was just given to me with some old comics. It’s about a GD-F copy but oh well it’s still a great book.

Thanks, Dave for this great video. In the world of comic fandom and comic-related TH-cam videos, it's radical to free an expensive, coveted book from its slab and flip through its pages. For comic fans, this is the equivalent of feminists burning their bras. Question: Why does your Swamp Thing #1 have light blue on the cover? I've never seen that.

So that Swamp 1 was sold to me originally as possible sun fade but after really looking at it and talking to a friend who does professional printing, it seems as just a weird printing/ink error. That's why I kept it, I've never really seen anything like it on a cover.
