Tip: riding position is a lot more relaxed then most sport bikes I’ve been on feels more like a cruiser . Also after owning it for a couple months now I’m honestly surprised at how slow it is at higher speeds 85-130. Was a perfect choice for a first bike for me
I agree! I mentioned that on the highway it's a little lacking for me and had a few comments saying it's plenty fast but I assume they don't go the speed you and I are taking about lol
This looks just like mine did before I added a few hundred ££££ of extras (crash protectors, tail-tidy, screen, radiator and downpipe guards, sound-bomb horn, power outlet and cruise control). Now it's the perfect bike for me and my needs. Great review 👍🏍
Was looking into the 2018 model. They sold out so I was given a GREAT deal on the 2019. Super stoked. I've been riding Honda CBR's for years but I test rode a few friends Kawasaki's (300 and zx6) and I very much like the brand. Can't wait to ride my new Ninja, the suspense is killing me!!!
Just got my 2019 and have ridden about 300km in two days. Absolutely love it! It's got the extra power that I need without being aggressive and unfriendly. Also, I've been pretty impartial to Hondas but after riding the Kawasaki, I dont know if it's the way its built or its tire profile but the Kawasaki just leans so beautifully into turns for you. I am absolutely in love!
@@LJsGarage it got stolen from The original owner an they people who stole it messed up the ignition but it still starts and the gas tank is stripped it has 7k miles
Here's my personal experience on my own Ninja650...it has nice low end power but when you are on the highway and you try to stomp on it to make a pass it is sluggish. I wish they had made this one a 4cyl like the CBR650R and more power again like that CBR of 90hp. Instead for this new version Kawasaki lowered the power from 71hp on the previous generation to like 65-68 on this one. Don't get me wrong it is a great starter bike and very fun with plenty of power but if you go on the highway a lot, just know the passing power is not that great. This is more of a Honda Civic, economical, fun, and pleanty of power down low but atop it is sluggish is the best analogy I can give. It's not a bad bike mind you it just lacks grunt. Again, they need to make it equal to that of the CBR650R.
Dude you pretty much summed up my thoughts after having the bike for a few months. I couldn't agree with you more. Just hit my break in and I feel I've outgrown it already. Thanks for that good comment 👌🏾
Iv had mine for about 3 months its a lot of fun very light, I agree it shines low end, anyway comparing it with a CBR650R is not a good way to go as even Kawasaki advertise it as a "Sport/ tourer , in other words its not an "R" or "RR" race bike. an r6 or most 650r bikes would leave it standing. Its a great bike imo but I do agree I was underwhelmed at first till I got new exhaust, filters and jetted now its beast :)
How's the gas gauge/mileage on your bike? I have the exact year/model and color and for some reason my gas gauge is not accurate with what's in my tank. I know when the gas gauge starts blinking it means it has 1 gallon left, but every time I fill it up when it does that I still have 2 gallons left. Your thoughts?
Mine has been really spot on. I've noticed the gauge light comes on around 45 miles till E, so that's about at the last gallon. The chance of your float lever for the sensor getting stuck is slim but possible and then it could be an electrical issue too. I've also heard where a few guys have let it go pretty low and then filled it all the way with the bike upright to the top and somehow that causes a reset of some sort with the fuel sender 🤷🏿♂️ not sure if it would work for you but worth a shot! Also I've seen a few of your videos, keep on getting it bro
Try pulling the silver spout of the gas nozzle as far out as you can while still getting the gas in the tank. That will allow you to look into your tank as you’re filling up so that you can fill it up all the way to the top of the tank.
Hey nice video, I have the 19 z650 which is practically the same minus being naked, the two brothers exhaust sounds good on these bikes, unfortunately we can’t but a slip on and need the full exhaust. I’m not sure if you ride with passengers but if not check out the h2 style rear seat cowl, adds a super mean look to the bike. Anyways ride safe
Did you ever change the exhaust on this bike? I just bought the Yoshimura Alpha Works Race Exhaust System, waiting for it to arrive for my exact bike. Thoughts?

Alton is some good riding! This bike is great for touring. The seating position alone makes this a win for me and I have been looking at upgrading my seat if I end up doing longer rides but for my short 30-45 rides the seat is great. Id also want a bit better visor up front if I spent more time on the highway. That's all I'd change

Thanks man! Congrats. As for the height. My friend who is 5'5 sat on it and they were on their tip toes but said it felt comfortable for em like not too intimidating. The 650 would be better in the long run unless you go used and get used to the 400 so you don't lose money on the deal when you later trade up
I’ve got the same bike and It’s a great beginner bike to let you experience the motorcycle world, but this could easily be your first and last bike as it is so average in all aspects. I’ll upgrade in 2 or 3 years .

I have seen a few companies offering ecu tuning. On the older models I had found a few people who did it, but I'm not too knowledgeable on it. I don't know for sure if this model allows for that without the ecu flash.
@@LJsGarage Do you think your bike has enough power stock then? I know the late model Ninja 650s aren't tuned for top speed anymore. Is the mid range good? What is the 0-60 time? Thank you.
@@WilliamdThompson mid range is a blast. That's where I love this bike. I often complain about the hwy riding on this bike because I feel as though it is missing that too end. I've seen around 3.5s avg
Good question and its not a super straight forward answer, all depends on you. In a nutshell, top-end speed is the trade-off. The 650 has more power, weight, and is a tad larger. In town traffic, they behave the same, plenty of passing power below 50mph. Once you get above that the 650 starts to open up and leave the 400. Gas mileage is better on the 400 as well by about 2-3mpgs. The 650 reaches max power at about 6k while the 400 is at closer to 9k. If you like riding for back road cornering and in-town commuting id go 400. If you know the minute you get some open road you want that straight line fun, you'll want to go 650 as that's where you'll see the difference. Sorry for the lengthy reply lol
@@LJsGarage thanks for the reply. As many reviews mentioned how good 400 handles the corners and overall but not much information abt 650 available. I will b commuting a lot n in town use mainly but 650 sounds more impressive n bigger to show off lol...even though not much power difference being 2 cylinder and price point too. Question remains the same. I think test ride will give a clear choice. Thanks.👍👍
This is more of a city bike the cbr is more race inspired. Closer to a super sport style. Depends on what you want out of the bike. First time rider I'd say the ninja is so much more manageable.
It has alot of torqe and so it should be good for a bigger guy as yourself to start on. I would recomened this over the ninja 400 or a 500. This 650 should be perfect for a starter bike as it is more comfertable than other sport bikes and has more torqe which will help support your weight. But go test drive one first
Also you can get a gsxr 600 2012 and up years. They come with 3 mode options and c mode is rain mode but many people use it to start as it only allows half the power in this mode
@@LJsGarage Lol gotcha! I like the sporty looking handlebars like the 400 have and yours look similar to that. Thats good to hear some say its a jumpy bike. It will be my first bike.
I got the same bike 2019 only in black goes like a rocket on the highway like the adjustable windshield but im thinking I’ll probably buy a taller one for longer trips and I agree about it sounding like a lawnmower ,only got 500km on it so far as im still in the break in but for 8200 Canadian you cant go wrong 👍
Well said! The taller windshield is on my to-do list as well. I wonder if the short style helps w/ aerodynamics...I still have a little left on my break in, im impatient lol.
The short style windshield that comes with the bike looks good but does nothing when your on the highway unless you have it at its highest setting.. my top speed with less then 500km on the bike is 143km the RPM went to about 6500 so I slowed down.. love the seating position and comfort on this bike .. ill make a short video of a walk around on my bike and post it sometime this weekend so you can see some of the accessories i put on it 👍 or check out my photos on my Instagram deanjalava 👍
Dell Pereyra Bro I'm just 5'4 bike straight standing I can put both foot on the floor 1/3 each side then when I bend the bike just a little bit I'm flat footed on the floor on one foot that's how low the seat is. I just checked the bike yesterday Good luck.
You'd have to be ok with being on your toes at stop lights and such but the weight of its good. The shortest person I've let ride is 5'5 and they were on tippy toes :(

@@LJsGarage no offense man, good video ill subscribe, viewers wanna see you ride there's no fun in just an overview of things I look at for old release videos of last year's model.theres no fun in that though,it's easier just get an opinion of a daily rider, but we don't just want specs,I wanna see Speedometer speeds gear ratios, how much it actually changes, when you adjust clutch and brakes, the big difference between models with and without from a rider's viewpoint both first and 3rd person.

@@LJsGarage I really like the 650 twin class. I know the parallel twin Kawasaki has been making since 2006 is a durable reliable unit, but it's also one of the least interesting and has been out performed in recent years by Suzuki and Yamaha. Really wish Kawasaki would get into a small V-twin engine configuration, or switch to 270° firing interval to breathe new life into this engine. They gave it more bottom and mid range power in the last update, but it lost more overall power. They just keep detuning it and detuning it. 13 years is a ridiculously long time to have essentially the same engine and it's time Kawasaki stop throwing all their development money into 300 hp supercharged rich man's toys.

Wowwww thank you so much for that video .. i am buying Ninja 650 Green and black saturday :)
Thanks man! And congrats on the new ride
I'm looking to get one soon. What kind of mpg are you getting? I've seen reviews saying 65 mpg is common!
Mine is still in break in and I've only done about 157 miles and filled up once so my average is kind of skewed. But I've heard the same on the mpg!
Nice review! This was one of the bikes I was considering before I got my GSXS.
What twisty roads would you recommend around Illinois?
Thanks for checking out the vid! I'm luckily by STL so I've got the River road in Alton, the Shawnee area by Carbondale. Bluff road around Columbia. Weldon spring I've heard and then hwy 100 in Wildwood, MO. If you're closer to northern Illinois I sadly haven't ventured out that way.. yet ✊🏾 safe riding!
Thank you buddy awesome review
You betcha! Thanks for the positive vibes ✊🏾
Thanks for the review. I was wondering if you can get the motor derestricted? Thank you.
Nice, I had a 2012. The 2020 has the beautiful new TFT display
Can't really go wrong with a ninja and I agree with you on the display it's sweet!
Personally myself I like a analog tach then everything else can be digital so for me the 2019 is the one to have.
The orange looks killer!
Thanks it really does!
Ninja 400 or ninja 650? Which is better in Handling comparison? Very confused in between these two.
Thanks.👍👍
the first time i used a hydro clutch vs a cable clutch was on a dirt bike and I wish I would have known you dont have to squeeze as hard as you can :(
Haha you're so right on that!
I think I’d have to go for the z650 for all day comfort. You can’t beat the price for ninja 400 though.
That's another great bike! Good bikes to add to my to do list haha. Thanks for the input ✌🏾
I just love the color scheme but I am not a big fan of the pirate look and usage of old technology meaning not using LEDs.
Haha I didn't think of the pirate blook until just now that's awesome. I'm with you on the LEDs. That's probably upgrade #1 or 2
I’m a new rider. I’m thinking this bike or the cbr500r. Any suggestions?
This is more of a city bike the cbr is more race inspired. Closer to a super sport style. Depends on what you want out of the bike. First time rider I'd say the ninja is so much more manageable.
Ok cool
Damn That Orange Looks Like AweSomeNess PerSoNiFied
Heck yeah!
Good job amazing review
Thank you my friend 🙏🏿
Just booked it yesterday, KRT edition ✌🏻🤘🏻
Nice!! Can't beat the green and black
Dude that bike is sweet
Eric thanks man!
Dealership selling this bike $6415 Used, with 7,500 miles. What are your thoughts? (Denver, CO) btw. Thanks!
That seems to be the going rate, fair price. Mine has 2k miles if you wanna come get it in Ohio lol
0 to 60 in 3.5 towns maybe or KPH?
How would this bike be for a bigger guy? Im 6'2 about 270, is this going to be too small?
It has alot of torqe and so it should be good for a bigger guy as yourself to start on. I would recomened this over the ninja 400 or a 500. This 650 should be perfect for a starter bike as it is more comfertable than other sport bikes and has more torqe which will help support your weight. But go test drive one first
Also you can get a gsxr 600 2012 and up years. They come with 3 mode options and c mode is rain mode but many people use it to start as it only allows half the power in this mode
@@kiddtaboo9681 Thanks man, I appreciate the reply
@@lilturk726 Agree with Kidd Taboo! Thanks for the input G!
what kind of handlebars does that bike have? Is it really jumpy?
That is a great question I am not sure. They aren't jumpy at all though!
@@LJsGarage Lol gotcha! I like the sporty looking handlebars like the 400 have and yours look similar to that. Thats good to hear some say its a jumpy bike. It will be my first bike.
@@temeka383 They are very tame for a 650 even though it is fuel injected, just ride sensibly and you'll be fine.
roguesquatcher ok thank you!!
Buying a 650 this weekend!
Sweet! Enjoy man be safe 🤘🏿
That color is so nice
Agreed!
You can get a 2020 Kawasaki 250R that's faster than that 650, plus it comes with a quick shifter, upside down forks and it has four cylinders.
You bring up a good point 🤔
I’m currently thinking of buying the new 2019 Kawasaki ninja 650 abs for my first bike🤤
Do it!! Its an awesome bike I truly love mine
LJs Garage for sure !
Thank you sir!
Anytime ✊🏾 more bike vids to come
I got the same bike 2019 only in black goes like a rocket on the highway like the adjustable windshield but im thinking I’ll probably buy a taller one for longer trips and I agree about it sounding like a lawnmower ,only got 500km on it so far as im still in the break in but for 8200 Canadian you cant go wrong 👍
Well said! The taller windshield is on my to-do list as well. I wonder if the short style helps w/ aerodynamics...I still have a little left on my break in, im impatient lol.
The short style windshield that comes with the bike looks good but does nothing when your on the highway unless you have it at its highest setting.. my top speed with less then 500km on the bike is 143km the RPM went to about 6500 so I slowed down.. love the seating position and comfort on this bike .. ill make a short video of a walk around on my bike and post it sometime this weekend so you can see some of the accessories i put on it 👍 or check out my photos on my Instagram
deanjalava 👍
@@Mr710324 sounds good man! I'll find you on IG and keep an eye out for the vid.
Can you do a slight offroad with this bike?
I wouldn't 😅
How tall are you? Im looking to get the bike, Im 6’2 and was wondering if I am too tall
5'9 so it fits me just right you might be cutting it close ha
I’m 6 3 and have had a 2018 650 for a year .. I bought ergo extended seat for Kawasaki and it’s been great.
Doug demuro with that intro😂😂I love it
Haha thanks for checking it out bro!
Ya kinda confused me I thought it was doug
@@LJsGarage keep up the great work!
@@garrettkogelschatz9705 thanks my dude!
how hard is the fork my friend?
Not bad it's a smooth ride. We have some rough roads here and it handles them well. About as good as most bikes without the harshness
Is a 5'5ft person big enough for this bike?
You would be on your tippy toes but it's not terrible!
Love the AF boots you wear in Civis lol
Haha the Nikes are so comfy. Good attention to detail Sean 👌🏿
Thanks for that very informative review..
Thank you for checking out the vid and leaving some positive feedback!
Thank you my Israelite Friend From The Tribe of Judah for a different type of review . Very refreshing .
You bet my friend 🙏🏿 thank you!
I'll tell u what throw the 2020 display screen and the rideolgy app and ill take it over the 2020 and 2021
I can respect that!
Is this a good beginner's bike?
It sure is! If you read through since comments a bunch of these gents agree 👌🏿
@@LJsGarage Thank you for the reply
Hey dude. I'm asian, and im 5'7. Do you think it would fit with my height? Thanks, more power!
hey I'm 5"4 I ride the 2019 ninja 650. every day use yes, yes you can ride the ninja 650.
I’m 6’0 I ride a 2018 ninja 650. It will definitely fit your height
nick thanks man. Appreciated!
What Nick said! Thanks lol
Dell Pereyra Bro I'm just 5'4 bike straight standing I can put both foot on the floor 1/3 each side then when I bend the bike just a little bit I'm flat footed on the floor on one foot that's how low the seat is. I just checked the bike yesterday Good luck.
Sadly I find the pegs a bit high so the rather sharp angel of my legs tires me on long trips...other than that the bike is just great!
I can see that for sure! Safe riding out there!
nice color sir... what was your height sir?
5'9! Thanks for watching 👌🏾
@@LJsGarage oh thank u sir.. GODspeed😇🙏
Good for short riders? I’m 4’11 😅
You'd have to be ok with being on your toes at stop lights and such but the weight of its good. The shortest person I've let ride is 5'5 and they were on tippy toes :(
LJ! What's the background music?☺
Causmic-"Distant Love" it's such smooth background music!
Bro is the seating position is upright?
Yep! It is like riding a cruiser. Not very aggressive like the super sports.
@@LJsGarage daaayymm bruh the way you described it like a cruiser mekes me wanna buy it right away 😍😍
You can get ABS in any color.
Correct my dealership only had it in this color so you had to order it I misspoke in my explanation thank you
Wait, you have to have orange if you want abs? Well....I don't need abs that bad....
No my dealership only had abs in Orange but you can get it in either color!
Are you in the AF?
Fly fight win 🤓
This the bike I really wanted but I got a 400 cause the candy red but I’m not mad I did it
Nah you shouldn't be the 400 is plenty bike! That red is nice too
What does ABS mean?
Anti lock breaking system!
Why would you take the whole video to decide to tell people no video camera of you hauling on this, like I cool specs and all but rude to make us watch all that then not show how fast it launches and tops out at.
I'll keep that in mind just for ya next time Cody!
@@CFox2023 I appreciate that feedback no worries! I'm trying to find the balance between those things. I got you though ✌🏿 spring time is just around the corner jk it's a while but I'm ready lol

What it needs? Rip the engine out and give it the full Isle of Man TT power upgrade treatment, to about 90 hp.
Heck yeah!
How tall are you
5'9
awesome Video!!!!!
Thanks my friend!
Hasta que miro alguien que le hace bueno video a esta bike. 👌🏻😎
Gracias mi amigo! 👌🏿
U can get abs in any color lol
The dealership I went to only had abs in the orange all the black ones were non. Not sure why they ordered em like that but yep
Clickbait! Is it better than the CBR? I don't remember any comparisons, lol...the whole reason I clicked on the video was to see if you talked shit about my bike, rofl...otherwise, another great video. You can definitely tell you are getting more comfortable in front of the camera, keep it up 👍🏻
🤫🤫 haha oh fine guilty! But no it's not better than a CBR, in fact the CBR is still on my dream list. We will see how the summer goes with the Ninja. Thanks for the positive feedback BigB!
