Pure historicals are always such a breath of fresh air. There's something even more stage play-esque about them that I love. I do wish they'd come back. Sometimes the best stories are just about humans😅

They really are! I think it could be because they take place away from the sci-fi setting, so feel much different and dramatic. Doctor Who is brilliant at doing historical episodes. Exactly! Some of my favourite stories of both classic and modern Who is just that. About humans!

Don't be put off Marty. This is one of the earlier animations and the later ones do tend to flow a bit better. As far as I know there weren't any cuts to the audio for this story. I think the rapid cuts were maybe for a number of reasons. It could be to save money by reducing the amount of lip syncing required on screen. I also assume the animated episodes for this story were heavily inspired by the tele-snap reconstructions themselves. Those often involve a lot of quick edits to make scenes more dynamic. It works okay for still photos but for moving images it is very jarring.
Please keep an open mind when it comes to future animated episodes.

Thank you Soup, I'll bear that in mind with future animated episodes, as I won't write them off just yet. I'm sure those probably are part of the reasons why, yeah. From what I remember, the next episode doesn't have odd editing to it. I may have remembered wrong though.
That may possibly be what they did, by taking inpiration from the telesnaps recons.
