I get these comments quite often, and I'm going to assume you watch the dub and that's where most people got the BARB-a-tos pronunciation. In the original it's バルバトス (barubatos), which is more like bar-bah-tos as they don't put any emphasis on the u sounds.
Don't take my comment as a negative reaction to how you pronounce it. If anything it just catches me off guard. And I've actually never seen the dub of the show
When they released the MG barbatos lupus, they will just put an actual mace into the box. Not a model- they will just put an actual medieval mace in there.
@@mooncrysta It turns out that regardless of where you are from, you can call it whatever you want. If it lays a coat of color over your nails it’s nail varnish/ polish/ enamel/ lacquer/ paint.
Well, for me: I use a VERY thin layer of super glue to bulk up the joints(the key is to let it dry BEFORE attaching the connecting pieces) But do not that abs joints can wear out even worst if the joints are bigger than it's intended clearance.
This helped immensely with a trigger hand that wouldn’t stay clasped. After about four coats it’s not coming loose on its own! I’m trying this with the RG RX 78 2 on a lot of joints that just don’t want to stay on. Even the shitty hands have improved, though I’m on like 5 coats and I’m incredulous that’ll truly solve the problem with them.

I loved the display of the lupus smashing down on thin air at the end. But yeah, it seems nail varnish is the way to go, people like Vangelus who builds transformer kits (which are bulkier and heavier) use it all the time in his streams. EDIT: You might want to do 2-3 coats tho, depending on how loose the actual connection is, if the hand is flopping with no weight on it, then tighten the wrist with cement or maybe some thin blu-tac, then try putting nail varnish on it if it persists. Only problem with taking things apart is the Lupus' legs on all of his models, they have a clip just on the inside of the heel that makes it near impossible to take apart without forcing it and breaking the tabs, but the inside of the foot has pegs, so tightening those and a little cleanup should do it.
Hey, I was googling up how to fix loose joint issue, and this video came up in the search results. Thank you for the advice, I only put together these kits every now and then, and I've a 1/100 Tallgeese to finish, but the joints are way loose, to the point where the arms will fall off under any kind of weight. So, off to the store tomorrow to buy some nail varnish.
This helped a TON. I have the Heavy Arms Custom HG kit from 97 and one arm joint was too loose to pose. After watching this i got the idea to jam a small piece of scotch tape in the joint and it worked like a charm
I would like to thank you for making this video because I got this kit today and seeing this helped me fix the problems of the loose joints as I am assembling it.
I like how you hit the highlights in a short period of time. I don't always have 20-40 minutes to find out to use paint or nailpolish to tighten joints. working on my first Gundam now and find your videos helpful. new subscriber here. thanks for the videos.
Pretty surprised it actually still works after a few years. But 1 minor complaint is that it causes the plastic to do some weird stuff, or it could be the nail polish/varnish
thanks for the tip, picked up a bottle of XF-24 and it's worked wonders for Kshatriya and 00 raiser making them a bit more rigid and stable, thinking of trying the upper arm to shoulder joint on the 00 raiser next see if he has a chance in hell of keeping his sword oriented anyway but down. also seems to be working for sinanju ,he couldn't even hold the empty gun in his hand before without it shooting loose at the lightest touch, now he can hold it with the big bazooka attached but the wrist which i for a moment thought was stiff and strait is actually not and is unable to hold it up but that what the XF-24 is for :P ( update : hand peg tight enough, wrist peg tight enough, connection between hand and wrist giving a little... it never ends T.T i'll get him to hold this stupidly sized machinegun+hyperbazooka combo yet even though it almost clearly seems like a actionbase 4 combo so you can support the thing :P)
Dude. I tried the nail varnish on my EW Epyon Gundam--specifically the heat rod. It worked. I also tried it on my wing tips for MG wing zero custom that kept falling off. And the GN Shoulder Shield for 00 Qanta. All parts are stiff as hell. Though the heat rod is loose beacuse its degined that way when not in Mobile Armor mode. But it works.
for a quick... really quick.... fix for balls joints , i put the smallest amount of poster putty, the blue sticky tack stuff in the joint . works awesome. after like a yr it might dry up.
The dark gray paint just literally tightens the joints, but will still be loosen over time. So even though covering a joint on paint, the gunpla wouldn't hold a pose for just even a day.
I put a small dot of superglue/nailglue ontop of the ball and i use the skinny plastic handle piece of a q-tip and spread it thin on the ball and let it dry for 2-3 mins.
I'm still fairly new to building and have only done a couple of kits. Mostly Medabots. I find them to have very loose joints which makes posing a nightmare. Thanks for the tips!
have you ever tried using pledge floor care? it thickens joints really well in comparison to the ones you showed in the video. you just have leave it to dry over night.
I use superglue.I put some glue on the joint,I stick it inside, then move it around to make sure it doesn't get fixed. Not only does it tighten the joint, but also the polycap/peg hole it was in.
Is it the HG Force Impulse Gundam Remake? I have problems with the feet/ankle joint and the waist joint. Which joints did you experience the looseness for your Force Impulse?
I had no idea the master grade Barbatos lupus Rex arms were a ball joint connected to a polycap that could be pretty useful for kit bashing with kits like a master grade Exia from Gundam 00 to make a even fiercer mobile suit ^^
Something I suggest is to look into rc cars parts because there are certain things that are basically fast drying plastic that you can paint on to add friction
- I have tried this at home but the way i see it is to paint on the joints 1 TIME only (paint the joins too much or too many times will leave residue) and then add a small piece of tissue paper (or normal paper) as small as the size of the points, this will make the joints be stiff but movable.
Oh, I'd definitely like to see more lazy / cheap ways to improve and customize gunpla. Also scratch building if you have done any of that. So far I've only kitbashed and customized using what's in the box, so to speak, and the only paint I have on hand is gundam markers. Given you'd probably end up stiffening all the joints on the FM Rex, I'm supposing you could jut get the HG and paint what needs the detail. The HG can hold up that Mega-Mace no problem, it seems, so an IBO HG finally has an advantage over the FM. But I'll wait for Bandai's final release for the Barbatos to decide which version I will eventually buy. I'm also not sure about the Bael yet. Some people are comparing it to the 1.5 Gundam, which I have. I might get the FM Vidar and do an Arya Stark custom with it when it goes on sale. I'm also curious about the Kimaris Vidar. The drill lance has sort of an _Ea_ vibe to it, and the shields remind me of the Dendronium. Drills, man. These IBO kits and their modelling tools.
