  • Today we continue our Thailand Tour by leaving Suphan Buri and heading to Kanchanaburi. We will visit the River Kwai and the Lawa Cave before checking into a perfect Thailand River Resort known as The Float House. The resort is actually built on pontoons right on the river making this our new favorite get away or weekend escape destination. Enjoy the Ride!

Amazing hotel but what really impressed me is the imagination of the owner / builder/ architect that came up with that hotel concept....quite remarkable.

I live 2 hours from that resort and cave. Kanchanaburi has been my home for 4 years and although I like visiting other provinces, it will be my home for the rest of my days. No beach, but well served for trips to Bangkok, Pattaya and Hua Hin. Perfect location for me. And great air quality.

This was one of my favourite places I visited when i went backpacking, the history of the place is incredibly deep. the death railway museum and others were amazingly detailed but I think seeing how immaculate the Thais maintain the war cemetery and walking around it brought a tear or two.

Love the Kanchanaburi area, so much to see and do plus it's a nice two day bicycle ride from Bangkok. Noticed the river accommodation as I was cycling up to Hellfire pass and was impressed. Burma is a top place, just magnificent and hope to go back. Must say you've got a lot of different things happening on your channel which makes things interesting.

Don't think I'll be going near bats anytime soon. Nice video. Been to the Bridge on the River Kwai. You are correct you can spend a day there. There's a fantastic museum built by a Japanese businessman who was a prison guard during the war. Afterwards, to make amends for what he did he created the museum which is a place of pilgrimage for those whose relatives were prisoners. There is also a huge Commonwealth War Grave Cemetery which is very moving. I recommend a visit to anyone interested in the history of the railway or who had relatives affected by the events there.

The bats in the cave are Great roundleaf bats (Hipposideros armiger). They are insectivores, eating mostly beetles and flying insects. Looks like an amazing resort for chilling out and unplugging. Looks very comfortable, especially with company. ;) Hope you all are safe back in Pattaya, maybe Vee can make some ham and bacon out of the wild pig, lol. Hi Lucus N Ve enjoyed your video. I could not have gone into that cave without a mask that smell and some of the stuff he pointed out was years and years of bat pooh. Plus the darkness and heat I would suffocate I have breathing difficulties. Tunnels and caves to claustrophobic for me. Where your staying is very unique but not for me too many stairs to climb back out the place I would need an oxygen mask haha. So I'm happy you're enjoying your stay. Keep the videos coming. Take care GOD Bless you and yours. M

    G'day Lucas's.
I stayed at this exact resort for 3 nights in September 2018. Its an awesome place to stay as you would now well know.
The only difference is that when I stayed there the river was in flood. Approximately 10 to 15 metres above its normal height. But still a magical experience staying there.

If you're into WWII history, there is a fantastic museum next to the cemetery. Hellfire pass is also well worth the trip. Check them out if you have the chance. A few years ago, I took my parents ( in their late 70's) and they loved it too. In the evening we watched "The Railway Man" and they were thrilled to see the places they saw in the film. My dad still mentions that trip.

The trainride over the bridge and further into the jungle was cool. On the first day I was there I walked over the hole legth of the bridge, the train came when I was in the middle of it. That was a bit scary LOL. Next time I think I try the boat-huts. They look realy nice. Cheers from Norway :)
