Nobody is watching? Some of us don’t miss an episode. Even if I had a stroke Friday afternoon, here we are watching today. I love some space news from my favorite space reporter. Also Merry Christmas and let look forward to a very very happy new year!!!
please check your audio channels for your videos, they seem to constantly drop right channel audio which mono is usually only recorded on left channel and needs to be mirrored for sterio playback.
Merry Christmas, Ellie. Viewership and popularity do not define your work, but it is a nice crown when you can get it. Enjoy your time off and I’m sure your viewers will return when we’re less distracted.
Thank you for all your hard work and keeping us informed. I was attached to Naval Network and Space Operations Command just as we turned the Space Mission over to the Airforce, and what is now Space Force. I retired from the Navy in '05 and now live in South Texas and have been to Boca Chica several times to see Starbase. I know most of what they do is classified, but can you maybe do a portion of your space updates on Space Force and any public developments happening there? Again, thanks for all you do.
Thanks Ellie for keeping us up to date, no matter when or where things are at with your schedule and/or plans!!! You're such a trooper! Also, I love your realism as a reporter and your sense of humor! It just makes watching your reports all the more enjoyable! Happy holidays!!!
Love coming to watch this channel, Got the lady that's easy on the eyes putting in the hard work traveling, interviewing, and looking into the information. Great job all around!
Thanks Ellie for the updates. I much however beg you (editor?) to get audio correct, it's not the first time your recorded audio is only heard in the left channel. In this episode it varied, some new clips was in both channels. Listening with headphones and only getting in one channel is less than ideal.
her audio track switches from one channel to another (left, right, center) as she shifts from one setting or perspective to another. I believe it's intentional, but many of us find it distracting. Knowing that it's an intentional "sonic scene shift," do you think it's helpful, or annoying, or not an issue either way?
I actually have more time in the holidays to watch TH-cam. Remember to record in mono (or convert microphone recording track to mono), and listens to your final/completed video with a stereo headset before uploading. Then you would have noticed that most of the speech is only in the left ear.
Merry Christmas Ellie and have a Happy New year-and thank you for all your wonderful videos-I have enjoyed each and every one of them. Now getting back to Jared Isaacman becoming the new NASA administrator-if he cannot fire these government employees then do as the military does-reassign them to out of the way places lol :)
We are not nearly ready to go to Mars. We havent even left LEO since Apollo. There's a million details to work out. Starship is a very early prototype that might work someday, but the jury is still out.
Crewed to Mars is not ready but uncrewed starship ought to be sent. There are two launch windows nov-dec 2026 and dec-jan 2028/2029 so just end of his expected presidency.
You are wrong, we can go to marss already with falcon. Elons dont want to just go there but make there civilisation on marss. To do that he wants with starship to get payload price downt to 15 dollars per kg. Thats it. But to get there we can do now with falcon or even old Russian rocket. But Elons dream bigger and he dont want just go tgere and forget but go and colonise marss.
Thanks for the updates Ellie. Some of us might not have watched your video on the date it was posted but we will catch up as soon as we get the chance. I hope you had a very good Christmas and best wishes for 2025. It looks like it could be a fascinating year and I am sure you will be very busy keeping us all informed.
Tiesiog įspūdiinga. Savo laiku, kai buvo dar USSR, tarnavau Kalugos mieste. O ten yra Konstantino Celkovskio ? Memorialinis. Muziejus - sodyba, kosmonautikos muziejus Tai labai įdomu. Elono centras irgi vertas dėmesio Su pagarba - Audrius ❤️😊👍
@Ellie in Space : Ellie please fix your audio issues, some of the added inserts are coming through on the left channel only (mic mono input gets routed to left channel only, route it to both left + right channel)
That was a nice year end wrap-up. As others have stated, there is always a keen interest now that it appears the manned space program to the moon and beyond has began moving again. Merry Christmas and things are looking up for a Happy New Year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Ellie. Just letting you know we're still here. I like the "newscast" flavor that you bring to your channel. Keep up the good reporting. I'll see you later!
she really provides a fantastic and full update show on all things progressing in space flight please Ellie keeps up the great job and have a very merry Christmas.
I think #3 would be a problem. Ames and Goddard are in places with a lot of engineering talent. Having NASA in those regions can take advantage of that talent that will not just move to a new place.
I think that besides punishing states that didn't vote for Trump consolidating centers is a way to get people to quit. I worked at NASA for over 30 years believe me giving MSFC ( largely responsible for the SLS sinkhole) more power is not the way to change NASA culture.
@@KevinBreisacher Not about political punishment. California is a hostile place to do business. California was once an aerospace powerhouse. Today, convair, where legendary aircraft and the Atlas rocket were made is now a parking lot. As is the plant where the Tomahawk cruise missile was once made. Lockheed has left San Diego. North American aviation, McDonnell Douglas, Hugh's aircraft, all gone! Combining Ames with Huntsville is a good idea. Bottom line, we are not going to move Huntsville to Moffet Field so guess what is going to happen to Ames?
I respectfully disagree. Ames isn't in business it is a government owned and operated facility. It is actually advantageous moving forward that Ames isn't in the pocket of a legacy aero contractor. NASA certainly could benefit from having a research center in the epicenter of software and computer development. As regards whether politics is not coloring this list, notice GRC isn't being mentioned. Ames and GRC ( where I worked) are usually candidates for closure but GRC has two Republican senators, went massively for Trump, and has a former Senator as VP and is not on the list. Moving Ames and GSFC to MSFC is not going to improve the performance of the big dollar spaceflight programs run at MSFC. BTW, before going to NASA I worked for a year at GD San Diego. It is sad that Kearney Mesa got bulldozed given its history.
@ Kearny Mesa was a victim of California politics. I was in the Navy Deep Submergence program and later worked at Lockheed San Diego. It was all in a death spiral even back then
There is absolutely no way humans will get to Mars in 2028 - for one thing it is only 3 years away and the whole endeavour would have to be rushed at great, great speed which hugely increases the chance of a catastrophe happening. This is exactly what happened with the Space Shuttle disasters, caused by a rush to launch, the Challenger tragedy in particular. There will not even be a Moon landing by a crew until at least 2027, and not even Space X can manage a Moon landing and a Mars landing at the same time. The costs and hazards of any Moon and even more a Mars landing will be enormous. Space X will have its hands totally full trying to keep to its contract with NASA to land people on the Moon by 2027, a date which will probably slip further into the future, never mind a Mars mission, far, far more difficult and dangerous than a mission to the Moon, which is already very hazardous. Elon Musk, Donald Trump and Space X need to be realistic here. And, not unreasonably, many, if not most people outside the space industry will question why send people to the Moon and Mars, an enormously costly and risky plan, when the costs would divert money from social and environmental problems which need to be fixed as far as possible and as soon as possible. And that is not to mention the damage space flight inflicts on the human body and that alone may prevent any Mars crewed mission from ever being possible. We know spending too long in zero g inflicts damage on human health, damage that will only get worse the longer you are in space. Mars has only a third of Earth’s gravity and of course there is NO way at all to increase Martian gravity to that of Earth. And terraforming Mars will take at least hundreds, much more likely thousands of years and probably for ever. Which means you would have to live in a totally artificial environment and never be able to go outside without having to put on a spacesuit, which would not be a fast process and a cumbersome one. And then you would have to make absolutely sure it is not faulty, because if it is you would die. I am not saying people should or will not go to Mars ever, but there have to be very good reasons to do so. And sending people there will need the full support of the general public, and certainly at the moment and for the foreseeable future, that support will not be forthcoming. After all, many people outside the space community do not even know the existence of the International Space Station and most people would only know, at most, a few names of the astronauts who have visited it, out of the 300 or so who’ve spent time there.
Imagine sending Starship to Mars for the first time and using Optimus Tesla Bots as crash test dummies to see if humans could survive a Martian landing.
Yeah, I also have thought about that being a possibility! Let's hope the Tesla Bots aren't "crash test dummies," but actually successfully land the Starship, egress and perform some kind of explorative activity on the Martian surface! Wouldn't that be cool?
Well of course! There’s a reason why Musk has invested so heavily in Rockets, robotics, electric vehicles, batteries, boring machines and solar panels… All these things would be indispensable on Mars…😉
Merry Christmas Ellie! Thank you for releasing this today. I am so sad to hear about Dragon recovery. I'm guessing this is for Crew and Cargo Dragons? Very very sad and this is the first I've heard of it so thank you for that as always. 💙🤘🚀
Feliz Navidad Elly!. From Panamá we follow your channel... Thanks! I work at the Panama Canal and live in the city... I am eagaer to see the Dragon going through out the Canal...!!❤
Number 1 -- Send humans to moon and Mars by 2028? Humans to Mars by 2028 seems to be pretty ambitions. There are only two transfer windows coming; one in Oct 2026 and another in late 2028. That Oct 2026 transfer window will be crucial to get supplies and refueling equipment on Mars ahead of humans. I sure hope it works out. Love your channel -- hope to see you on the roof of the Holiday Inn on 11Jan. Hope they don't change that date.
The key is to be ambitious and visionary. Whether the time table is met or not, we will learn a lot and advance either way, but only by setting the plan in motion.
Cap. Starship hasn't even made it to orbit yet. Besides that, there's a million big and little details that havent been worked out, like how to actually land safely on Mars. How to make fuel. Do we have a habitat module? Do we have a Mars space suit for the astronauts to wear for the 2 yrs they'd have to stay? I could go on and on. We are not nearly ready to land humans on Mars in anything less than decades from now. Will it happen in our lifetimes? Maybe, but not less than 2 hrs from now.
1) Big fan of Homer Hickum’s book, “Rocket Boys.” As an adolescent, launched model rockets, made them, experimented with them; they’re every bit as dangerous as Mr. Hickum described but rewarding when you learn/succeed from your failures. 2) No doubt SLS appears to be boondoggle; my concern is the many small 3rd party vendors and pseudo-military contractors that make the rocket parts for NASA. We do not want to lose expertise that will be needed if there is a large war.
Merry Christmas. I often work in Portland and understand the weather you may be encountering there…horrible winter ice sometimes. Anyway, when I play this video on my appleTV the sound track is wonky. Thought you should know?
Just because you spend the day in a building together - it doesn't mean you are working together. If you are in separate locations - it doesn't mean you are not working with others someplace else.
Thank you and Merry Christmas. ❤️🎄 The shift is real. 6:29 Elon and Jeff know it. It’s Business but much more. Their purpose has changed. Elon is right, revolutionary change is needed and upon us. Excited ❤️🔥
heres toa bigger and BETTER 2025 with lots of content from Ellie in Space. Did any of you remember "Pigs in Space" on PBS? I luv that show. Although Kermit always made me a little jumpy... doo-chano?
Thanks Ellie. This sounds really exciting and makes a lot of sense. Let’s hope things do move forward efficiently. Thanks for a great year and all the best for an exciting 2025! Lots of love to all.❤❤❤

I haven't read what Trump otherwise has said but what Ellie "quoting" is 'the rocketships' , so not necessarily crewed ships.

@8:19 and suddenly I remember why President Trump has shown interest in the Canal recently.

Hi, Merry Christmas to you, good health, peace to you. I see the year 2025 as a magnificent year for the development of Starship. I think we'll get there even sooner. I think we'll get there even sooner.🙏🏾✨😍😁
Would love to see a consolidation outside of D.C. Specifically, I would like to see it consolidated in Alabama.
Love your channel and content Ellie, but when half the audio of you talking only comes out of one speaker, it’s very annoying. Especially when wearing headphones/earbuds!
Please don’t stop making vids
Thanks Ellie! I was wondering about this exact topic! Happy Holidays!
Great update. Merry Xmas and I hope you have a great 2025.
Eric has a nice hat. ✌
Merry Christmas Ellie! You made me laugh when you tried to sound like Trump.
