just got my golden dice using this party comp (obviously without the guide) but i can confirm that this party composition has great synergy and works so well together!!
when can we expect the tempest wizard build? these videos are a gold mine and i cant wait to follow more of your guides, keep up the amazing work dude!
The reason dedicated Healer/Buffers and Tanks were massively valued at one point was because they were required for a party to function on Modded Difficulties infinitely harder than Honor Mode, before Honor Mode was released, for example with the Pre-Nerf Harder Bosses mod on high end settings of the Nightmare Difficulty modlist it was practically impossible to run full damage in the Act 3 encounters. Oh and also Tanks always doubled up as high DPR and burst. The only reason damage is considered more valuable is because the base game is so ridiculously easy even on Honor Mode for anyone willing to engage with its mechanics. But even with that said, at the very least having a Life Cleric is better than one extra damage dealer on Honor Mode, just because a single action heal of theirs is better than 3 Bonus actions combined multiple times over, which frees up those Actions to be used purely for damage. There's also that the Sorlock, Tempest Wizard and Gloomstalker can all easily wipe out an entire encounter in one round, more damage at this is completely redundant imo, compared to having the ability to instantly save your run. Remember most guides like this should be dedicated to people who struggle to complete Honor Mode, AKA someone more likely to make missplays, mess up their party's gameplay loop and more likely to be completely fucked by a stroke of bad luck, having insurance that practically guarantees that you'll never die is extremely valuable for that kind of player IMO
Yeah, I completely agree with all you said, I guess the majority of tryhards dismiss life clerics because it's no use to them past a certain understanding of the game while it does guarantee that you will never die and make your honor run stress-free
I definitely agree with your sentiment, but there’s been so many times where I’ve skipped Shadowheart’s turn because the other 3 are mopping up and there’s nothing to heal and none of the offensive spells are worth the use of a spell slot. Light Cleric is a great in-between option that still has plenty of healing and some more offensive capacity. Every player struggling on honour needs some form of cleric tank for insurance for sure, but full on life cleric can be a little redundant at times. You can get super high AC on Shart even without heavy armour with a high dex modifier and (Advanced) Warding Flare too! If a player really wants to fully commit to Life Cleric, I get that. But I’d definitely advocate Light Cleric to those who still wanted some different utility on their tank whilst still having soaking hits/healing as their main role. Yes I’m shilling for Light Clerics.
@@bonjouritsready you contradict yourself brother If your 3 party members beside shadowheart are already mopping everything up then it is a very good example of using your 4th slot to a dedicated life cleric since it won't change your clear time anyway (arguably, because perma bless from a single aoe life cleric heal is a lot less misses especially with GWM and SS) and will save your run when random bs happens
I love that, out of the hundreds of build videos for this game, you've only released like 5. And yet every single one has been gameplay redefining for me. Ultimate quality, from start to finish.
Yeah absolutely - as the game goes on there are hardly any encounters that even need the utilization of each character. Without arbitrary limitations the player character just scales much harder than the enemy.
Wow thank you very much for all the info you provide! Solid guide for the players (like me) that are easily overwhelmed by all the info and possibilities of this fantastic game!
thank you for making a party that's not overly dependent on insane setup and micro but actual fun default synergy All those "kill raphael solo with one turn" builds are impressive puzzle solves! But mostly setup
This is the very best video on party comp that i've ever watched.. Gear overlap was the great issue in my 2 first playthrough.. I'm at the third one now, first time with the durge, i will make these 4 characters and plus a open hand monk, because free gear..
A dedicated healer is not a waste. Healing Word, Mass Healing Word are only bonus actions that have good range. These spells are critical during combat, especially if a party member goes down. I like the Life Cleric with the Whispering Promise ring which can be acquired early in the game.
Great team comp, I had a similar one during my honor mode run. A slight change to the tempest wizard I would suggest is to spec divination wizard instead of evocation in order to ensure guaranteed hit with maximised crit witch bolt for a one turn boss killer. I also regularly switch out party members depending on combat. Eg for Ansur tempest wiz is useless hence I used a open hand monk instead
I.. did a few different styles for my builds but it worked well. I went pure sorcerer for fire damage and scorching rays instead. He would use crowd control if enemies were immune to fire. Plus i had arsonists oils just in case i needed them.... i never needed them. Even with resistances the fire sorcerer could finish the job. And i also went cleric wizard for fire immune enemies and as i said, i had arsonist oils just in case. Hat of fire acuity is just so good even if i only use it to add +10 on a quickened hold monster.
Using a variant of this party, I just finished my first deathless HM run. I swapped L Wiz for Arc Acuity SBardcher, but otherwise kept everything the same. Hold Monster, Aura Murder, and some slaying arrows gets you a one turn Dragon kill. Longest combat in the entire run was 5 turns and that's cause the last guy was way away. This is easily one of the best Nova setups I've ever seen.
Also, context. I have not played the vast majority of Act 3, so most of the content I was bumbling into blind. And this combo still trivialized almost everything.
Agreeing on the points. :) As for ”best” comp there are quite many answers tbh. There are so many aspects to take into consideration. I find several melee characters can delete single targets like no others, especially if you don’t wanna long rest often. And camp buffers make a big difference aswell (bar after confronting the brain the first, time.)
Absolutely, I was debating on the inclusion of so many more builds into the party. There is no one way to build a good party, honorable mentions to builds like the Open Hand Monk, Throwzerker, Light Cleric, BM Fighter etc. The viable build diversity is great :)
Great builds for sure . After beating honour mode 3 times , and over 1000 hours deep , the challenge of the game becomes trivial with character builds like this. Im using mods to up the enemy hp by 300-500% and boost the action point by 1 per turn. Its alot more challenging and engaging when you cant kill everything in 1 turn(boring) imo. At level 4-5 at the goblin camp drog ragzlin have 504 hp !!
this is great. but i actually disagree with the first pick. i recommend making your party face the bardadin while swapping out the sorlock for an open hand monk karlach instead. by setting up the bardadin with band of the mystic scoundreel. you'll have great frontlining and control there. while allowing your monk to set them up with flurry of blows topple and stunning attack. making your gloomstalker hit more often as well
Definitely enjoying your BG3 videos! One thought: for your baradin and wizard, wouldn't it make sense to put the more powerful hand crossbows (Hellfire Hand Crossbow and Ne'er Misser) in their off hand instead, so that's the one they use when weaponizing their bonus action? I mean, I know paladins often use their bonus actions as part of their smites, but they're more likely to use a bonus action shot (when not smiting) than they are to use their full action on firing a shot, IMO.
Hey man, any chance you can do a summary breakdown of levels up for 10/2 temp wiz - I'm assuming for the feat you're just doing ability enhancement and any recommended spells? Or like a generic build you can link to - thank you!
when can we expect the tempest wizard build? these videos are so good and helped me allot true the game ... and tbh ... love the koncept that there are no dubble of the gear ... so plc let us have the wizard too ... thx
Thank you for the high praise! I'll go over the clothes mods, as well as some that I play with for Quality of Life (I download all mods from Nexus, I don't know about the availability of these on the in-game mod support) Clothing: - Shadowheart is wearing "Bladesong Attire" - Rest of party is wearing "SR Legacies" - Scantily Camp Outfits Appearance: - Vesnelle's Hair Pack 2 - Vemperen's Other Heads - Eyes of the Beholder (Aberration) - Consort Dyes - Less Wrinkled Expressions Quality of Life: - Send food to Camp (automatically) - Improved UI - Mod Fixer - Save Alfira (so I don't have to knock her out to save her :P ) Hope this helped
So are you going to do a full guide on the tempest wizard??? Not trying to rush you or anything I’m just genuinely curious why not sorcerer? I’ve always done a cleric sorcerer so I wanna so how much better using wizard could be
i really love your build guides, they are seriously the best. i just arrived in act 3 with these builds and it's so much easier than my previous honour run and also much more fun to play, thanks
I finished my honor mode (fought all bosses in a good playthrough) with abjurarion school origin gale: anything tbh, damage, utility, crowd control school of swords astarion: high damage, utility, buffs and healing (barely used) battlemaster lae'zel: crowd control and high damage the fiends pact of the weapon wyll: adaptability, good selection of high damage/crowd control spells idk if it's a good option but I recruited them in that order and they never left my party
I would say this is a pretty good "fair" comp (fair-ish, you are still using Bhaalist armor + slaying arrows). You are not taking advantage of many game-breaking mechanics such as stunning fist scaling with str, abjuwizard or angelic reprieve metamagic stacking. It's prefectly viable, but far from the best comp unless you have a self-imposed rule against abusing the more broken stuff (in which case an archer should be off the table).
Im going through the game a second time and I want to incorporate Wyll or someone else instead of gale because I had him in my party the last time. But I also do not want to play a wizard for Wyll since hes a warlock by story. I do want to play the Sorlock myself, so can the tempest wizard be switched out for lets say a paladock for wyll? any other suggestions?
Last comment I swear lol do you think the gloomstalker is better using the bows you suggested or the titanstring with giant strength elixer? Not sure but again titanstring and the elixers are broken imo
If you use the Bloodlust Elixir there is no comparison, no amount of damage scaling can catch up to the addition of an entire action. If you either don't have or don't use Bloodlust Elixirs then absolutely the Titanstring + Giant Strength Elixir is the best in the game, even in Act III.
Especially on honor mode I feel like there are a few items that are broken and must be included on a team if you claim it as the best. Band of the mystic scoundrel plus helm of arcane acuity are busted busted. Easily the best two items in the game and must be used. Also really like the hat of fire acuity for the same reason. Only other thing I thought of is use monk. It is top three build in the game and makes most boss fights trivial with stunning strike. Plus all his gear is free for him to use and is exceptionally strong.
I was VERY close to switching out the Bardadin to the Mystic Scoundrel bard and including the Open Hand Monk over the Wizard because it really is that good, esp Act I. There is no one way to build the best parties, the inclusion of either of those would be correct :)
I am currently in act 2 on an honour run for my dice. I am going to respec my characters to this party but i have no durge in my group. I did the Raphael cheese to get Helldusk armour in act 1, would you use it on any of these builds? P.S. amazing vid and info!
Really any of the characters since it is such a powerful piece of armor that early on - so long as it is not on the Sorlock instead of the Potent Robe, any of them are fair game
Good team. May i suggest an improvement? I would give Shart the Hellrider Longbow for +3 initiative. And for Gale i would go Hellfire Shortbow or Bow of Awareness for +1 initiative. I know you use dual Xbow for the Bonus Action which makes sense Early game And Instead of Ring of protection on Shart you could go with "The Sparkswall". This ring protects her from gettng Shocked by Gale.
How to save Alfira @ Honor Mode with Dark Urge after patch 7 in about 30min: [SPOILER ALERT] DAY 1: start at the beach, do everything else before the grove entering fight scene, SLEEP FIRST TIME, do the fight, then lastly enter the grove. (Pick Shadowheart, La'Zel and Gale - get Astarion on board, but leave him inside the camp for now, because his bite Cutscene can trigger delay of Alfira show up inside the camp) DAY 2: Don't trigger main healing quest progression there (don't talk to Nettie, Sazza or Auntie Ethel). Don't talk to Alfira. You can make other interactions like recruit wyll until you get Lvl 3. Pick up the Amulet with Guidance on the hill near the Nautiloid, if you like to. While Level up, make sure to pick Feather Fall and Sleep with one character or save a feather fall potion if you find one. Walk to Scratch, while avoiding Brynna and Andrick and don't enter the Blighted Village. Simply walk the bridge and before the Village turn right. Walk further to jump over the River behind Scratch, catch the smuggler's Ring and run left beside the river. Reach Waukeen's Rest, do quests there, walk down to the Zentarim. Walk trough the Zentarim Hiding until you get to the hidden Lift down into the Underdark. Down there, pick the stuff if you want, then pick just one character with Feather Fall and directly jump down to enter the Myconid Colony and get the party back at the Teleporter. Don't interact with the Myconid Kings (avoid Glut). Interact with the merchants and Omeluum if you like to. Directly sneak up to the Arcane Tower with one Sussur Bloom (catched near the Myconid Colony), did the hole Tower for some item upgrades, but i guess thats optional. Go to the camp, talk with Asterion - he now should be honest with you and release to you, that he is a Vampire - that will protect his sneaking bite cutscene and the possible delay for Alfira showing up. The hole Part can easy be done without a single fight, after entering the Druid Grove. You should have Everburn Blade (Nautiloid start with Command drop weapon) or if that did miss twice, because it's Honor Mode, get Hamarhaft in Waukeen's Rest. Finally teleport back to the Druid Grove, walk up to Alfira. Raphael should show up right before her, because the early entering of the Underdark Myconid Colony should trigger what we need. After Raphael's cutscene go to Alfira, DON'T talk to her. TOGGLE NON-LETHAL ATTACKS on! Take Fighter (La'Zel) or a Paladin (Spellslot lv1 needed) for a big hit with the 2-handed weapon and position sneaky behind Alfira. We need a one-hit-melee-attack with 26+ max damage. Cast Sleep lv2 on Alfira and immediatly hit her after that, with the melee class. Sleep should trigger a 100% critical hit, cause it is important to instant knock her down. Now she should be knocked out temporary like the video. Instandly go to camp, SLEEP SECOND TIME, Quill should show up and on DAY 3 Alfira still should play the Guitar and be friendly with you.
Isnt counterintuitive your sorclock build being Durge ? The cape is awesome but you will lose the potent robe killing Alfira, there is a way to save her in honour mode ?
If I’m not mistaken there’s some kind of exploit you can cheese to get the cape and keep alfira alive. Not sure about the specifics but there’s a lot of videos you can look up that explain how to do it.
You can buy or Steal infinite str elixir as soon as the Druids Grove. Aunty Ethel sells you 3x Str elixirs everytime you Long Rest or any of your Party Members Levels up. Step 1: Go to withers. Reset all your Party Members to Level 1 Step 2: Go to Aunty Ethel (or any other vendor). Buy all the Elixir. Step 3: Level one of your Party Member up ONE level. Buy all the Elixir. Repeat Step 3 until you have as many Elixirs or Arrows as you want.
If you knock Alfira out before getting her camp scene, a dragonborn called Quill arrives. You kill her instead, giving you both the Cloak and allowing you to get the robes from the still alive Alfira in Act II
Although I would have loved having Sorcerer over Wizard you cannot have both Sorcerer and Tempest Cleric while still having access to Chain Lightning. The only reason I decided to multiclass into Wizard is because they can learn Chain Lightning through scrolls. Unfortunately, for Sorcerers to cast Chain Lightning, they would have to use scrolls - which uses their intelligence as a spellcasting modifier :/
@searching4god yeah I watched the dedicated sorlock video where you explain it. Did not know that. I still probably would not gamble it in honor mode though. Anyway sorry about that.
Getting the potent robe isn't *too* painful once you know what you're doing, but it's annoying as fuck to figure out, since this game's long rest triggers aren't documented well at all online. What triggers Alfira's long rest, specifically, is the autosave you get either crossing the bridge to the blighted village, or approaching Edowin and his siblings. So the best way to get the potent robe is to exhaust all long rests just prior to those autosaves, make sure you're not getting any new scenes, go knock out Alfira, then trigger those autosaves. Boom, Quill shows up in your camp that night.
Only if you forget to knock Alfira out before getting her camp scene, if you do, playing the Dark Urge is only ever a net positive because of the cloak
You have to knock out alfira and then run across the bridge to the blighted and long rest as soon as possible afterwards. That’s the safest way to do it, imo - I’ve done it a ton of times and it never fails. The key is to not accidentally trigger a different long rest event that will take precedence over it. So I like to have someone cast sleep on alfira, have astarion sneak attack her with nonlethal (the sneak attack crit always one shots her when he uses a rapier), fast travel out of the grove, then run across the bridge towards the blighted village. The game autosaves once you’ve crossed the bridge, and I go to long rest immediately. Then the replacement bard, Quil, shows up and Durge kills them instead! Alfira is alive and well to give you the robe in act 2
@@Liv_Alive Man I did really try to do it before I saw this comment but I was not able to make it happen as I kept knocking her out and just long resting in place. I should have guessed that I had to go to the village... Still thanks for the help and I will use this trick for my next playtrough!
I guess you have to decide whether you'd rather have a smoother early game or an even more busted late game. I imagine SFG reasoned that it was more important to survive act 1.
To clarify any confusion, echoing what @omegagaming609 said, the best item for the Sorlock is the potent robe (as mentioned around 19:10), which you get from Alfira in Act II. The item you get from the Dark Urge is the Deathstalker Mantle cape in Act I which I mention as being one of the best items for the Gloomstalker. Be mindful to knock Alfira out before you get the camp scene with her to avoid killing her and becoming locked out of the Potent Robes
You can always use the Vendor Reset trick Step 1: Go to withers. Reset all your Party Members to Level 1 Step 2: Go to an Vendor that sells the Elixiers. Buy all the Elixir. Step 3: Level one of your Party Member up ONE level. Buy all the Elixir. Repeat Step 3 until you have as many Elixirs or Arrows as you want.
@@DieGurke_ I have yet to find a vendor who sells them on a regular basis, where did I miss them. Which is what I stated before. Respeccing everyone doesn't help me if the vendor isn't selling the elixir I need.

Finally🔥🔥🔥
what clothing mods are you running or mods in general? also love your guides, best ones out there 👍
Thank you for the high praise!
I'll go over the clothes mods, as well as some that I play with for Quality of Life (I download all mods from Nexus, I don't know about the availability of these on the in-game mod support)
Clothing:
- Shadowheart is wearing "Bladesong Attire"
- Rest of party is wearing "SR Legacies"
- Scantily Camp Outfits
Appearance:
- Vesnelle's Hair Pack 2
- Vemperen's Other Heads
- Eyes of the Beholder (Aberration)
- Consort Dyes
- Less Wrinkled Expressions
Quality of Life:
- Send food to Camp (automatically)
- Improved UI
- Mod Fixer
- Save Alfira (so I don't have to knock her out to save her :P )
Hope this helped

@@searching4godThis video was excellent, I would be eager to watch another build video
Do you need the hags hair for the sorlock on honor mode as she died so couldnt get it from her 😭
Just a question for the Tempest Wiz, what subclass did you take for the Wiz?
Tempest wizard video soon I hope🙏🙏
How can you get the mantle from Dark Urge but also get an essential item from Alfira? I thought that wasn't possible
I agree I want to have a healer in my head but besides luminous orb/rad orb cleric all are super underwhelming compared to just another damage dealer
You have no choice than release the tempest wiz build now =)
Is it possible to use shadowheart as the tempest wizard? Looked like u used her in some of the footage.
Yep, the race is not significant at all for the Tempest Wizard
I am currently in act 2 on an honour run for my dice. I am going to respec my characters to this party but i have no durge in my group. I did the Raphael cheese to get Helldusk armour in act 1, would you use it on any of these builds? P.S. amazing vid and info!
Really any of the characters since it is such a powerful piece of armor that early on - so long as it is not on the Sorlock instead of the Potent Robe, any of them are fair game
@@searching4god Thanks, I will forge on and hopefully finally get my golden dice!
How did you get so many hill giants strength elixers?
Good team. May i suggest an improvement?
I would give Shart the Hellrider Longbow for +3 initiative. And for Gale i would go Hellfire Shortbow or Bow of Awareness for +1 initiative.
I know you use dual Xbow for the Bonus Action which makes sense Early game
And Instead of Ring of protection on Shart you could go with "The Sparkswall". This ring protects her from gettng Shocked by Gale.
Just a quick question. How did you get both the death Stalker Mantle and the Potent Robe later on in the game?
How to save Alfira @ Honor Mode with Dark Urge after patch 7 in about 30min: [SPOILER ALERT]
DAY 1:
start at the beach, do everything else before the grove entering fight scene, SLEEP FIRST TIME, do the fight, then lastly enter the grove.
(Pick Shadowheart, La'Zel and Gale - get Astarion on board, but leave him inside the camp for now, because his bite Cutscene can trigger delay of Alfira show up inside the camp)
DAY 2:
Don't trigger main healing quest progression there (don't talk to Nettie, Sazza or Auntie Ethel).
Dumb question
Where did you get those clothes for Shadowheart and Astarion?
Shadowheart's are the Bladesong Attire mod on Nexus, and Astarion's are SR Legacies again on Nexus
Isnt counterintuitive your sorclock build being Durge ? The cape is awesome but you will lose the potent robe killing Alfira, there is a way to save her in honour mode ?
If I’m not mistaken there’s some kind of exploit you can cheese to get the cape and keep alfira alive.
Not sure about the specifics but there’s a lot of videos you can look up that explain how to do it.
how can you get the potent robe as dark urge?
u put dual weild on every character?
yo please make the tempest wizard build
True way to go Honor is SOLO
How can you find so many str elixir and blood elixir? Explain please...
You can buy or Steal infinite str elixir as soon as the Druids Grove. Aunty Ethel sells you 3x Str elixirs everytime you Long Rest or any of your Party Members Levels up.
Step 1: Go to withers. Reset all your Party Members to Level 1
Step 2: Go to Aunty Ethel (or any other vendor). Buy all the Elixir.
Step 3: Level one of your Party Member up ONE level. Buy all the Elixir.
Repeat Step 3 until you have as many Elixirs or Arrows as you want.
@ how did you get so much money in the early game? 😂
And where can i buy blood elixir?
@@emirklnc you can always pickpocket them
@@DieGurke_ i see that option but is there any way to get that much gold in such a low level?
How’d you get potent robe and the durge cloak?
If you knock Alfira out before getting her camp scene, a dragonborn called Quill arrives. You kill her instead, giving you both the Cloak and allowing you to get the robes from the still alive Alfira in Act II
Tempest sorcerer is even more powerful cuz of metamagic and the damage buff u get at lvl 6
Wish I understood this game ! I love it but I’ve not got a clue, all level 12 characters in act 3 and my damage numbers never go past about 18 😂
what are the mods you are using for the clothes
Shadowheart's is called "Bladesong Attire", the rest of the party is using "SR Legacies". Both available on Nexus Mods
@@searching4god Thanks. You make good videos by the way.
Just want to point out that if you use dark urge you will not get the potent robe unless you use mods.
Great video though
As referenced in many of the other comments, it is possible in the base game by knocking Alfira out before getting her camp scene.
Best party is all wither hirelings customized lol
This vessel is at thy disposal
Can I make Gale the Gloomstalker assassin or will that break my immersion
Nah thats not canon
Boring party. U need 4 palbards for sure
Basedgod
I thought the Dark Urge prevented you from getting the OP robe and wasnt suggested in the other video because of it lol
Only if you forget to knock Alfira out before getting her camp scene, if you do, playing the Dark Urge is only ever a net positive because of the cloak
@searching4god Sweet. Been looking for a strong build that could also dialogue, so thanks!
Why a storm wizard and not a storm sorcerer?
Because you can get 6th lvl spells scaling off of Intelligence via scrolls and not lose spell progression.
Exactly as above ^, since we're taking 2 levels into Tempest Cleric, the only way to get chain lightning would be through scrolls
Wait how do you get the potent robe while also playing as durge?
Still thanks for the help and I will use this trick for my next playtrough!
im a little confused, in the sorlock guide you say potent robe is the single best item for sorlock.. now u say its the dark urge robe
I guess you have to decide whether you'd rather have a smoother early game or an even more busted late game. I imagine SFG reasoned that it was more important to survive act 1.
The item you get from dark urge is a cape, not chest gear. You can get both by knocking out alfira in act one.
@@searching4god thanks!
@@andybodle7560 thanks!
bardian? No, its Bardbarian.
You do your name a great disservice, Paladin
Idk man 4 war clerics would be better late game, especially if you chose gith for your character
wrong, you can roll 4 2h fighters or 4 bards and fk this game like there is no tomorrow. Just git gud and learn mechanics.
holy based!!!
I've never found a steady source of blood elixir, where do you get them?
You can always use the Vendor Reset trick
Step 1: Go to withers. Reset all your Party Members to Level 1
Step 2: Go to an Vendor that sells the Elixiers.
