@DanielleLouiseThomas my father in law passed 2 weeks ago and abide with me was played at his funeral. I've always found it an emotional song but I just came across your version and it is truly stunning with such a beautiful vocal.

I watched it live on the TV from Barcelona where I live (though I'm from Liverpool) and I thought it was just an amazing moment with the families behind you and the views of the crowd with the sun out. But I don't think I've watched it once without crying a bit!
Tony Kirby amazing you were able to watch it from Barcelona and as a fellow scouser I can imagine how proud you must have felt seeing our city come together to show their respects to the 96 and their families. The music industry is a tough one, but people like you keep me wanting to carry on and always remind me of why I love performing. This really was such an honour to be a part of, heartbreaking at the same time but I’m so proud I could add something to the amazing Vigil that the city put together. X
then after that you'll never walk alone - it was so overwhelming to be honest, living abroad obviously I'd seen the result of the inquests but I had no idea the city had that event planned and I just sat watching with my heart in my mouth remembering the tragedy and being so happy for the families that their fight for the truth had been worth it. And yes please make sure you carry on - there was never a moment more emotional or high profile than this and you delivered an amazing performance that I'm sure most importantly the families will never forget. I cannot even imagine how nervous you were before! Sorry I didn't post these comments before :)
Quite coincidentally, this hymn was also sung at my Grandad's funeral in 2016. He was a Liverpool supporter all his life - he was born in Birkenhead, so Liverpool was his nearest team. It has since become something that runs in my family, as my Dad and I are both Liverpool supporters ourselves.

RIP to the Liverpool fans. Come on though it would be so much more powerful if someone led it with a normal meter to it and all the people in attendance sang along similarly to how they would to 'youll never walk alone' Personally can't warm to flowery versions of this song.
