    I was a long time AAA Season Ticket Holder here in Nashville, then the Brewers. Front row, right next to the dugout. I had several players that lived in my Apartment Complex. One of the Coaches was actually my next door neighbor. My girlfriend at the time, now wife and I would often have him over for dinner on off days, or rain out. He loved it. I got to know a lot of the guys and they would often get an apartment together, share expenses and if someone went up or down the next guy would just fill the spot. Getting to see and understand that side of the business was eye opening. It's a business..and its not for everyone. It's a tough life.

    LOL...about host family! I have been one of them host families for Kane County Cougars! 12 yrs. Had a few bad apples.. could write a book! One time, Oakland - parent club, player was sent back to short season, stiffed me for rent...never paid, got toward end of the season, the A's front office was contacted, and they sent me the amount owned to me, players' paycheck was garnished....never played ball after that season. The Dbacks now are parent club, and few years ago I was on business trip, club was in a home series, cleaning lady to the house notified me she found a bag of weed on end table...one call in the early evening to the front office, after game, mgr and coaches were told...I told the staff I want them out of the house that night....it was done! And they made sure I was paid the rent due. Rent was like $185/month.

    • @speakingtruths4215
      @speakingtruths4215 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      GorillaRadio88 They were not behind the curve in prospect development. Their problem was two fold: One, horrendous draft decisions like Matt Bush and Donavan Tate, maybe two of the worst top draft picks in the history of baseball. Two, they have traded away prospects over the years like Rizzo, Shane Victorino, and good lord, Trea Turner, to name just a few. Just some really bad decision making over the years by various management. No continuity, no stability, and incompetent leadership.

You have the gift of gab that is a great tool, obviously that is working for you, and you haven't been sued by the Astros for your logo yet, although I would be careful especially now. Baseball is a super difficult sport to make pro. I've had several family members make minors and go no further. At least they gave you a shot. You should talk about the leap from AAA to MLB it's differences in skill/talent & why guys just can't take that next step. Although I have seen atrocious players playing in the bigs (usually wearing Met uniforms) because they can play one side of the ball, but couldn't hit a beach ball with an ore.

      Until he answers (if he does), I'll bring in a guess: I'm saying no, 'cause if they did, they'd have a nightmare scenario of who and how to select a family, and a similar logistical nightmare of paperwork, liabilities, tax liability, etc. The family merely donates their home, and whatever else they deem comfortable, although the player will likely take care of most of his food needs.
      In exchange, the family gets the cool stories of housing a ballplayer, and if the guy busts out in The Show, bragging rights of having him once having stayed with them!

    Not to sound like a hater but wasn’t this guy in the majors for like a week? Why can’t we get an ACTUAL mlb player to talk about this kind of stuff.
