    This song is one of my favorites =) If you watch the live in Nimes Völkeball version, Flake is playing an enormous, specially designed accordion :D
    Next you should watch the official video for Mann Gegen Mann!

    One of their most epic and strongest songs. Beautiful.

    After listening for 20 years to that song I think it is about the life of a man. You can be a soldier or you can be a sailor, but you have to leave home and do cruel things. I am german but that lyrics are mysterious for me like for you.

      I would agree with your assessment. Seems a bit too simple to view it as some sort of sexual meaning. Also I don't believe the original music video is even still available but it was all clips of the weirmacht and kreigsmarine. Seems to point towards the different experiences of mariners, soldiers and such.

      Under the wide and starry sky,
      Dig the grave and let me lie.
      Glad did I live and gladly die,
      And I laid me down with a will.
      This be the verse you grave for me:
      Here he lies where he longed to be;
      Home is the sailor, home from sea,
      And the hunter home from the hill.

    The song is about the different sexual orientations of men, some of them are attracted to women and others to men. The "lance" is the male genital part and the "fish" stands for the woman.

      Reise Reise is a nautical wake-up call.

    What happens when you mix Rammstein and the renowned French singer Édith Piaf (1915-1963)? A masterpiece. There was never an official video, but this is a pearl "Frühling in Paris" th-cam.com/video/3KXifbtBNLs/w-d-xo.html

    One thing - this translation is a bit misleading. Reise means journey, not "arise". "Raise" could be translated as such, but the title is definitely "Reise reise" 😉
    Nice reaction and analysis, though. Cheers!

    The fish and the sea are actually just a household word. It's actually about sexuality. That's how Rammstein does it more often. Double meanings. Can be compared to encrypted messages.

      I dont believe this is necessarily true. I think it is about the different experiences of the kreigsmarine and weirmacht. The original music video that has been washed from the internet was all war scenes of the german navy and army.

    • @TomTomson81
      @TomTomson81 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@burnheretic3950 Rammstein's videos usually do not show what they mean. The reason for deleting the original video was probably due to the original recordings shown. This song is about sex and its different forms. "everyone does his own way", "spear to the man" (gay), spear to the fish (man woman) etc.
      It's an enlightenment song wrapped in a sailor's song. Comparable to fables. Tales of animals are told in fables. But actually you address humans with it.
