Death is something in the game that is shown several times to not be the end, Cloud associates his supreme happiness with finding Aerith in the promised land, they will reunite in the life stream. Not only Aerith but Cloud too. It's just too perfect. Cloud will never stop loving Aerith, like how Vincent never stopped loving Lucrecia or Yuna with Tidus. And just because Aerith is in the lifestream with Zack means nothing, it does not mean they're together. FF7 is all about death does not separate us.

Amy Rose I think it's right that Clerith is supported by SE because they're supposed to end up together only if she didn't die in FF7. but that's not enough to consider Clerith as a canon couple. since CC released I think SE strongly confirmed that Aerith and Zack ARE canon, they tried to hint us about Cloud and Tifa's developing relationship after AC ended as well. So, I agree that Cloud and Aerith have special feelings toward each other but maybe they just don't belong to each other? and I don't think staying with Zack in the lifestream means nothing at all. They're still in love and together they always watching over Cloud while Cloud moving on with his life, together with Tifa and the children. (Oh! and I think the real Cloud before losing his memories genuinely loves Tifa, so after gaining his memories Cloud still loves and wants to protect Tifa. He just can't forgive himself about Aerith's death, which hitting his weak spots of being unable to protect anyone)
So, in short, I agree that Cloud and Aerith share strong bonds but their paths are parted. Aerith has Zack and Cloud has Tifa. and even though Cloud find her in the promise land eventually (surely he will be supremely happy), I don't think they'll reunite as lovers.

Cloud... it must've been hard for him to try and face her, knowing that her memories are gone. He even tried avoiding eye contact because it might've triggered her memories to come back. At the least, he kept his promise and came to her when she was in a pinch. It pains my heart and I think it must've pained his heart too, knowing that she was dragged into this conflict and fighting on different sides.

Amy Rose for your interpretation of Cloud's lover, whether its Tifa or Aerith, it just depends on what fans prefer who would be with Cloud. Like for me, i personally think Cloud is in love with Tifa and Aerith is in love with Zack (this will be considered to think of a Cloti) but for Canons or Cleriths (then its your interpretation). It just depends on what fans really like. Like some actual quotes of Final Fantasy conferences have also mentioned about Cloud and Tifa being together one day as well and Cloti fans think that's true. To sum up my point, it all depends on the fan. I just think Cloti is better than Clerith because i think Aerith has Zack and if she has Cloud, it wouldn't be equal love for Tifa.

To this day, all the concept and official art in FF has been designed by the artist who made the Speed Racer anime famous worldwide. It was one of FF1’s main selling points in Japan, back when it first came out.

I always wondered why Cloud has Squall's personality in the newer version of games/ movie. As far as I can remembered, Cloud is quite a talkative person, not an emo
Cloud is depressed, because he lost the woman he loves. And continues to find a way to be with her in the promise land.
Cloud was a shy, dimunitive fellow before FF7 and then he got the ultimate mindrape, got a bunch of misplaced memories and filled the rest in with a persona he thought was supossed to be what a SOLDIER 1st class was like.
Then eventually he dropped that but stayed as a more reserved less cold person, i don`t think i ever remember Cloud being talkative.
Advent Children kinda made him sink into a heavy (understandeable) depression and become Emo tho, and i guess most people remember that more compared to his healed FF7 persona because it was just more prominant i guess.
Grizzly Melon Yes Cloud was quite talkative actually. The original game portrayed false persona Cloud as being "tough"...not emo. He was a tough almost Han Solo-ish kind of guy. When he found his true self, he was quite relaxed and laid back. He was the type of person that I might confide in. I didn't sense him being emo. Just one of many examples: re-watch the scene where Cloud helps Yuffie with her motion sickness. THIS is the real Cloud. I can't see Advent Children or Dissidia Cloud helping someone in this way.

Well like i said, that Cloud we saw in Advent Children is vastly different from anything in FF7, but it is his true personality there i guess, he was not outright cold and i think he would let people confide in him if he weren`t trying to shut out everyone and punish himself there.
At the end of Advent Children we finally see him move past some of his tragedies tho, so from that point i think he`ll act a lot more "openly" like the nice guy he really is.
Cloud isn't EMO. He was suffering from severe depression. There is a difference. Please do your research before sticking someone with a title before understanding the things they went through. experimentation, torture, extreme guilt, loss of loved ones and friends, finding out your life was a lie, rebuilding memories, getting a fatal disease, fighting an enemy that doesn't know how to stat dead. - I wonder how you'd fair after dealing with all of that. :)

I didn’t want to argue but when aerith meet cloud he isnt on his right mind (with the trauma and everything). You cant really say you trully loved a person if you didn’t know him and same goes on the other side. So for Cloud, fused with zach’s memories I’m not really sure to say if he really did loved her.
Regret is always different from love by the way. Cloud regrets he didnt save zach and aerith and with full memories he still cannot cope with that. Thus advent children have to happened. And in all those times even from the start

In the end of Cloud's story in Dissidia, he mentions about wanting to meet someone. At that time, people mentioned it to be Aerith. Now connecting the dots with 012, considering these events, it's much more likely he is talking about Tifa as it makes more sense in terms of story continuity. Anyways, that was a heartfelt scene and shows the extent Cloud would go to protect Tifa, just beautiful.

Like, Cloud acted pretty strained from both Tifa and Aerith. Cloud was most likely a lot friendlier with Aerith due to his Zack-like memories and personality, while being with Tifa more than likely reminded him somewhere deepdown of his past failings, making him incredibly un-easy. But there is literally like, no part where Cloud explicitly mentions being in love with Aerith or Tifa (although it's funny you can make him say Tifa is his girlfriend) and I FUCKING DESPISE the way Western gamers completely misinterpret genuine feelings for "OMG I LOVE YOU", like that isn't how the Japanese work. That is literally just friendship. Stop forcing your stupid shit where it isn't meant to be.

You probably need to play the game again or read the back story. There was a love interest with Cloud, Tifa and Aerith. However, just because he never said it doesn't mean you can't see that he wanted to show some sort of expression. With Tifa, depending on your choices in the game, he wants to tell her how he feels. But depending on your choices again, he pushes her away because of how he felt for Aerith. Which what squeenix went for when they made Advent Children.
Fan girls and fan boys will ship anything because they rather keep their imagination being exactly what it is, imagination.

Can someone tell me what happened? Starting from the point of when zack and cloud woke up after 4 years of being experimented on? I'm very confused because I cant tell if this is a long story line or alternative dimensions.
Dissidia is an alternate universe to the FFVII story, yes. As to what happened to Cloud and Zack... Dude, it's a very long and complicated plot. Best to play Crisis Core and the original game (or REMAKE woo) to understand it all!
+Lorange Player Zack busted them out of the facility and got them as far as the edge of Midgar before being gunned down by Shinra soldiers. Cloud was in a kind of Mako-induced coma up until that point so the soldiers simply left him for dead, but the shock of seeing Zack killed snapped him out of it. In order to cope with the loss, his mind constructed a new identity for him; memories made from stories that Zack had told him, and a personality based on what he thought a first class soldier would be like. He made his way to Nibelheim and was found at a train station by Tifa, who recruited him into AVALANCHE so she could keep an eye on him, since she sensed something was wrong right from the start, and thats where FFVII begins.

No he returns to Aerith, the person who he most wanted to see, hence the yellow flower field at the end of the game.
SPOILER ALERT!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
He eventually dies. As he's fading away, Cloud pleads to Cosmos to protect Tifa(However, she already died from the brutality of the manikins she fought in her attempt to destroy the rift that were producing them). The goddess Cosmos, deeming his feelings sincere chooses him to become one of her warriors for the next cycle of battle, taking Tifa's place.
Soon, the events of the next cycle takes place. Cloud wakes up with no memories, questions his reason to fight, Sephiroth acts like a total jackass towards him, yada yada yada. Other stuff happen, and the cycle ends with Cosmos warriors becoming victorious. Cloud returns home to Tifa and his family. And I think the events of Advent children take place afterwards... I'm not sure.
However, the story for these two in Dissidia is so well thought out and rather romantic (If one looks hard enough^^)
Both died in hopes to protect the other from harms way. Cloud Strife, who went up against a God to protect his dear friend. And Tifa Lockhart, who walked the path of certain doom and went against impossible odds just for his sake.
***** You have it mixed up, Cloud doesn't die. He returns to Aerith in the flower field, since she's the one whom he obviously wanted to see all along. Cloud returns to his family afterwards. (Cloud's family was started by Marlene inviting Cloud to join her "family": Barrett, Tifa, and then Denzel joins them later. A family of friends.) You could look at it as a romantic way, but it is one sided, since Aerith forever lives inside Cloud's heart, and Cloud thinks nothing more of Tifa than a friend. (He mentioned that before in Dissidia)

As for Cloud returning to Aerith, I wouldn't know how that'd be possible since she's deceased in his world. I saw the flowers as a symbol of the dream he shared with Firion on wanting a world filled with peace.
And a symbol of Aerith and her desire to spread beauty all around Midgar. Its true that Aerith will forever live inside Cloud's heart, but the same can be said to anyone that was close to her. Hence why in AC we see Cloud and co. wear pink ribbons in respect for her. The point of AC was for Cloud to face his inner demons and overcome them. His feelings of regret of not being able to protect his loved ones, and the weakness he felt when he had geostigma.
He was finally able to move on from his past and became a stronger and better person because of it.

If he had intentions of returning to tifa then there would have been a sign, like to the 7th heaven bar instead of Aerth's trademark yellow flowers scene, or have Cloud mention tifa, etc. at the end of the game. Tifa and Cloud have a platonic one sided love. Since tifa only loves him romantically, Cloud sees her as a friend. He did get stronger, but still Aerith seems to be his only love since he won't let go of her memory:
