Q. What about KH1?
A. Tifa did not feature in KH1 due to "tight schedules". Cloud's story is essentially the same; he is lost in darkness and fights Sephiroth, but at the end of KH1 he doesn't appear to have found any light and returns to the FFVII gang in the credits seemingly unchanged.
Q. How does this fit in with FFVII?
A. Cloud's story parallels his struggle in Advent Children. "Tifa wasn't planned to appear at first. I was talking with Tetsu about what Cloud could be doing in Hallow Bastion, and we eventually moved towards him chasing after Sephiroth, but also being chased by something himself. So Cloud's really running from something but goes around pretending, saying that he's chasing Sephiroth. Then we decided to make it him running from the "something warm" like what Tifa was after in AC, " said Nojima in an interview.
Q. What's all this light/dark/part of heart stuff?
A. "If Cloud's darkness is Sephiroth, then Tifa is light" according to Nomura. Characters within the Kingdom Hearts series are composed of three parts: body, soul, and heart. The heart gives them emotion, light, and darkness. When darkness consumes a character's heart, they become corrupted and turn into Heartless. So, if Tifa was "snuffed out" Cloud would probably become a Heartless.
Q. So Tifa and Sephiroth aren't human/real?
A. No. "You can take it that Tifa isn't really human," said Nomura in an interview.
Q. What's Aerith in all this?
A. Nojima: In my opinion, Aerith doesn't really belong to either light or darkness. Kind of like, she's in another world and can go to either if she wants to. She's independent, not steeped in either light or darkness. To put it another way, she's the most stable, having both light and darkness.

This game is such a good analogy and testament to Tifa's feelings about Cloud. I like how her brand of searching for him being as if he were an actual missing thing she misplaced somewhere, looking under tables and between book shelves, under paintings, and in walls. Always searching, like it's a job she's accepted having to do. Restless and committed. She deserves better but she knows Cloud can't help himself. He's hurting too. He's always deserved better, since failing to become a SOLDIER, since his mom died in the burning of his hometown, slaughtered by the man he aspired to be like, since Hojo tortured him and completely broke him, since Zack died, since Aerith died. He's held onto all of that, and that's why she sticks by him, why she's so patient, because without her he'd seriously fall into the darkness. Without her he'd probably be just like Sephiroth. She's not only strong in physicality but at heart too.
He keeps following Cloud. Strong and committed. That's her love for Cloud.
He pushes her away for one reason alone. It's because he can't bare losing her all he knows is loss. She know this of course. She says in acc complete "stop running it's like your afraid of something happening that can't be undone" so when there's danger he want tifa as far away from him as possible. He runs away when he's dying and doesn't tell tifa because he doesn't want her to suffer.

@Silverfish-qv8ig he designed all the characters and helped with key moments in the story thats not really minor
He designed the outfits on some of the characters and still had his work signed off, as he wasn't Director level. He didn't help with key beats, that's just revisionism. Japanese creativity is immensely hierarchical and he was fairly junior, meaning he would never be able to steer the story as he now likes to make out.
The main point is that he had nothing to do with the brilliance of the story. He has a very specific, campy style that has plagued SE productions ever since 7.

Aerith says “ once you find your light again, it will lead you back home.” Even though cloud fought Sephiroth to get rid of the darkness, Tifa came back later and let him back home. His light.

Cloud loves Tifa since they're kids, she help him more than Aerith, he worried a lot more of Tifa than Aerith, that's funny cause Tifa knows how to fight and Aerith is a rookie. The remake has more emphasis in the last things i said

I really like the banter between Cloud and Squall before they fight the swarm of Heartless. It shows Cloud still has his dry sense of humor, and isn't just a depressed guy like he gets stereotyped as. Plus it's just cool to see two FF protagonists fight back to back as badasses.

I just doesn't quite add up living in the Kingdom Hearts world with a still alive Aerith. Some things need to be explained as to why Sephiroth is here and why he has issues with him and what haunts him from his past. The only answer we got is that Cloud and Sephiroth went to fight in Smash which actually sounds like a Kingdom Hearts plotline at this point. They just need to add Sora.

This particular battle is something that a lot of people are facing to this very day; Lord willing, they all find that one special person put on this Earth just for them who can surround them with light.
Aerith is more like light for Zack. Tifa is the light for Cloud. Aerith died and is now together with Zack in the afterlife. Ending of Cloud and Tifa can be seen in Dirge of Cerebrus. Aerith has nothing to do with "Cloud's light" or whatsoever.
After Aeriths death Cloud literally isolates himself from everyone INCLUDING Tifa, why in the everloving fuck would Cloud succumb to depression and selfloathing/ not telling his supposed light that he has a terminal illness and waste away his days in Aeriths church if his alleged soulmate was still alive?

Although he still kept his phone with him because he knows Tifa always called him eventhough he never answers them. Him isolating himself because he loves Tifa and the others, too. As one way to protect them. He thought fighting alone was the best way for him to make sure they were safe.

@@LuisSR01 I believe this Promised Land was Aerith's church. That church was like a bridge that connects real world with the Lifestream. And Tifa did stated that she wants to go there and meet her too. I believe in that Promised Land, Zack was there too. Aerith said something like she doesn't want a big boy like Cloud to be her children. They both (Zack and Aerith) told him to go back because he still have his friends who love him dearly, to where he really belongs. The scene was after he defeated Sephiroth in AC. Years later in DoC, Cloud has already overcome his guilt and start moving on, continuing his job as a delivery man. Living with Tifa, Denzel and Marlene.
Hey, I know most people have been joking about Cloud going to smash after his fight with Sephiroth, but Tifa mentioned that "The darkness will be there, but in a place you can't reach." To Sephiroth, Smash is a place that he can never reach, thus, it actually would make sense if Cloud went to Smash in that scene!

You know, after I read the video description explaining about Tifa being Cloud's "Light," I remembered that in Kingdom Hearts 1, Cloud said to Sora that he was, "searching for his light."
Does that mean that Cloud was actually looking for Tifa the whole time?
At the end of KH 1 the credits scene show Cloud finding Aerith implying he was searching for her but in KH 2 Tifa is Clouds light for some reason.

Sometimes the light and darkness stuff in Kingdom Hearts stuff can get redundant, but I really like the dichotomy this puts between Cloud and Sephiroth. Love the “I am you” line Sephiroth says to Cloud. They are almost like a Jean Val Jean/Inspector Javert combo, like two sides of a coin. They could have done more with that in the original FF7 but regardless I love that game and it’s perfect in my eyes!

I know this isnt canon for FFVII compilation, but Tifa represented as Cloud´s Light vs Sephiroth represented as Cloud´s darkness is cool :) TifaxCloud is beautiful story of true love
People in the comments be talkin' about how weird it is hearing Donald and Goofy say names like "Sephiroth", but I love that shit, lol. These games are a surreal epic fantasy amalgamation of Disney toon characters and Square anime characters, and it's absolutely fantastic to me, haha.
Took me twelve hours to beat Sephiroth in 2008-just so I could get this Cloud and Tifa cut scene lol
I still can't believe this game out when FFVII was eight years old almost right after Advent Children then KH3 comes out *fourteen* years later with no FF characters essentially. This really was the peak of Kingdom Hearts.

Of all the FFVII characters in KH2, Tifa's the only one who doesn't seem half-asleep. Also, hearing Donald and Goofy say "Sephiroth" is either totally awesome or just plain wrong. Can't decide which.
