      @@Tmindful182 okay, buddy 😂 Russ’s stats were better actually solid last year, he led the league in 4th quarter comebacks, and he beat Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen within a couple weeks of each other in addition to several red hot teams. I think Russ is better than half the starting NFL quarterbacks in the league. He isn't worth the 38 million a year, and the cap hit that he's costing Denver. He also isn't worth the 40 million a year that Atlanta is paying Kirk Cousins. But then again, neither is Kirk Cousins. Pittsburgh flat out stole this quarterback room. Spending that money on the rest of the team is smart.

      That, and Omar Khan isn't the "let's just wait and see" GM that Kevin Colbert was. Colbert NEVER made risky moves like this. For the past decade, the Steelers have been known to hang on to high draft picks who turned out to be disappointing.

    • @YT-Holdings
      @YT-Holdings 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @tonydevlin9414 - Since the Bears got no compensation for this year and limited compensation for 2025, the Bears would have done right by Justin Fields by not trading him and letting him start until the rookie is ready. It also gives the Bears insurance if the rookie seems to need more time to develop. The decision does not make sense.

    • @djturner-smith6380
      @djturner-smith6380 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@YT-Holdingsas a Bears fan it makes perfect sense. We make bad deals and ruin young quarterbacks because we have a terrible organization. • @YT-Holdings
      @YT-Holdings 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@djturner-smith6380 - You are not understanding what I am saying, D.J. First of all, Justin Fields has improved every year and was on the verge of breaking out. Let's say that Justin Fields is not the best QB for the Bears, then trade him for fair compensation. Ryan Poles is the GM of the Bears and not the agent for Justin Fieds. The Steelers can trade Justin Fields for a 3rd round pick during the 2024 season or after the season and the Bears get no compensation. There is already precedent in the Calvin Ridley trade regarding a trade or extension and the Falcons would have received a better pick. It was a bad business decision. It has less to do if you like Justin Fields or not. What if Caleb Williams or another rookie gets injured or is a bust or needs a season to develop? It would have made sense to keep Justin Fields for another season as insurance.

    • @Sunamii_studios

      Legitimate question. If they pass on Fields' option, and somehow he winds up starting next year (either due to poor play or injury to Russ) and he winds up balling out, gets them to playoffs, etc. then they would obviously have to franchise tag him. But wouldn't that be more expensive then just simply picking up his option for ~ $20 million? Cause the way I look at it, it's a gamble to refuse his option and then he winds up being good. But 1 good year wouldn't be enough, so you'd want to bring him back.

      True! I’m a bears fan, and can easily agree. I did however, think a 4 or 5 was possible. I also don’t understand how keeping him along with CW was as bad of an idea as the media did. Unless they think CW is, or the choice at one will be soft. In which case why cut bait on a maybe who is far more valuable to your team than any other team? For another, maybe who is far more valuable to the league
      Everyone wants to compare CW to Mahomes, I haven’t heard anyone say “he would’ve been even better if he started immediately” Have him sit behind Justin for a year. He can see justin does things in the locker room. Show his team how good he is and how he can earn respect. Bears could have a competitive year, and then turn the keys over next year.

    If Fields shows the potential that a lot of folks think he has, then the Steelers have a good (note: i said good. Not great, not elite) QB of the future.
    Fields is going to a really good situation. An organization known for its stability, team building, and leadership.
    This is Fields make it or break it situation. Is he Jim plunkett or Sam Darnold? We're gonna find out.

Just sayin it’s not impossible!!!

      I'm a Bills fan but my uncle was die-hard Steelers (not so strange geographically, job opportunities and all) and I don't think he'd be happy. Even if they "succeed" it's like mercenary ball. I wouldn't want that. Why'd they give up on Pickens so fast? Then again, Fields still has potential. Weird way to get there but - have hope. Try 25 years without it, lol... no disrespect to Fitzpatrick, of course... or Tyrod fwiw

    To let everyone know how bad Pickett was, Russ threw for more TDs this past season than Pickett ever did! He was so bad, there were rumors he was about to be benched before he got hurt. He got butthurt that Russ was brought in so they traded him and a 4th for a 3rd and two 7th rounders. Even JF had better seasons than Pickett. If JF can stop turning it over, he could be a good QB that could win it all. I believe this is a high reward/low risk set of moves that can empower the Steelers but won't ruin them if these guys don't work out.

Giving Wilson cart blance to do as he pleases is like giving a teenager a supercar for his first car. Stupid. I hope they give Justin a chance because he is a good QB that deserves a shot at becoming QB1. Wilson with his larger than life Ego may be detrimental as when he was in Denver.
