You're below that, but I'm going to pretend you're at that level with a Pro. That's what you're getting. A $710 PC for $700, but without free cloud saves or online mode, so you have to pay an extra $560 for 7 years of PS Plus, and you lose many thousands in that time because of the prices of the game. Also, you don't have access to Frame Generation. You have PSSR, which is similar to XeSS, but you don't get to take advantadge of your hardware on every game like on PC. You're going to still playing Batman Arkham Knight at 30 fps and a low resolution.
You also don't have access to over 98% of the games, which kinda hurts tbh. I wouldn't like to not be able to play GTA IV with all the GTA VI talk. But yeah, you're truly not getting a getting deal. Your parts aren't even dedicated, so your VRAM isn't actually like 16. It's way lower, because you don't have RAM + VRAM, you have shared memory, and on top of that, the parts have terrible cooling so it's noisy and has high temperatures while playing. At least the base PS5 has a $100 advantadge over a PC in terms of the hardware you get on front, but the deal for the Pro is just... horrible. How are you guys defending this?

The price is definitely on the higher end, but the biggest issue for me is the removal of core features from their flagship (Pro) product that exist in the base version. The fact that it does not have a built-in disc drive to allow me to play Blu-Ray discs or physical games is an insidious calculation by Sony to try and urge forward the death of physical media. Yeah, yeah - I know. You can buy the drive separately. But not only is this an aesthetically poor option for the most dedicated owners, but Sony knows full well that sales for that will not be 1:1, which dis-incentivizes developers from targeting it, releasing physical discs going forward, etc. I hope Sony is punished in the market for this decision.

We've already seen how many e-shop closures in the past few years from every one of the Big 3 - Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. Meanwhile, purchases from Steam 20 years ago are still readily available to be re-downloaded and played locally at a moment's notice. 80% of all sales are digital.
They remove it to drive price down to try and be more appealing.
They offer those who still want physical an option to do it should they want it.
You would have them install the disk drive to drive the price even higher only to appease maybe 20% of people who still buy physical, and not even that full 20% would buy the pro still.
So you’d punish 80% of the potential consumers to appease the 20%?

Many people forget or are not aware of how expensive even the CPU or GPU alone can be on a PC; especially if they mainly intend on gaming with said PC.
In that regard, the $700 MSRP of the PS5 Pro is not _that_ expensive, but it still is an investment like pretty much all consumer electronics these days.
Also even if you add on the cost of a disc drive and NMVe for the PS5 Pro, but divide that up by roughly 10 years (give or take), it's not much. My point about the dividing by x number of years is assuming that you'll be gaming on the PS5 Pro for 10 years (give or take).
I think many people are just freaking out about the $700 price tag because others are freaking out and/or they see the price difference between the PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim.
Another thing people seem to forget about is how smartphones (for example) often are priced at over $1000 and some people actually buy a new one every year whereas others upgrade to the latest model after using it for about 3 or so years. Isn't it weird how people are not making a big fuss about that aspect?

Microsoft has this right. Go to ARM/RISC and reduce the amount of transistors needed and die space as well & use the transistors at 3mn to punch above their weight and make a console & hybrid mobile device.
The only cheaper you can get is if you went with RISC-V Open source and this way you don't need to pay a license and you can then go completely digital and add in the disc drive later via USB.
Otherwise there isn't much they can do at this point. Less transistors means less power is needed and thus less heat and less heat means less money is needed to cool the system and if it's a digital system out of the gate it makes it even cheaper.
So, to be honest this is about as much as they can do to save on cost. This is what I would do and come out with a next generation powerful system at a much lower price point so you can just break even on hardware out of the gate.

This idea that consoles and PC are somehow in competition with each other is the new landscape for fanboys. In the general public these are two different and distinct types of gamers. The hardcore PC gamer is never going to trade the option of high end PC gaming for console and the hardcore console gamer is never going to give up day 1 access to games and games optimized for thier hardware to play around with settings and part shop for the cheapest price on hardware. So why does the PS5 pro exist....for the same reason the 4090 exist.....to cater to those people who are never going to convert but want the best experience in thier preferred platform. The only reason this is a talking point is because fanboys need ammo for platform war and a 700.00 pricetag on a console is alot of ammo.....the problem with that ammo is that the more PC gamers try to use it....the more they make a case against buying a PC, because how do you argue 700.00 is too much to spend on a dedicated gaming machine, but a person should spend twice or 3 times that amount to buy a high end PC which will be better than the 700.00 console. Its the worst case of fanboys arguing against thier own self interest ever, but as long as fanboys exist these types of conversations will continue.

    • @joseijosei
      @joseijosei หลายเดือนก่อน

No, they're not. The vast majority of people who used to play on consoles are now on PC.
PC gaming grew a lot while people aren't buying consoles as much anymore. You now have 1.86 billion PC gamers vs. around 100 million people on current gen hardware.
Okay, I'll explain to you why the Pro is a bad deal, okay? You get a console that has a CPU that performs 10% worse than what I'm going to list, without dedicated parts, and shared memory (you don't actually have 16 gigs of VRAM because you don't have dedicated VRAM or RAM. You don't have straight up RAM). The cooling is worst, the temperatures are higher, and the performance is behind, but still pretty similar, to this:
      Ryzen 5500 $79
      MSI B450M Pro $79.80
      Patriot RAM 3200Mhz 16 gigs for $37.99
TEAMGROUP MS30 2 TB with 6gigs/second, pretty fast, for $89.99
RX 6800 $329.99 (you can use an RX 7700 XT if you want, or if you can't find any 6800)
      CM MasterBox Q300 $39.99
      Apevia Prestige 600 W 80+ Gold $51.99
Windows is now free, or you can use SteamOS, Linux with Proton. What ever you want.
That's $708.75, so you're getting a $8.75 "on front hardware value", kinda (not really for the reasons I listed), when the base PS5 gives you around $100 or $120, but then you have to pay for online access or cloud saves, which in 7 years costs $560, and you have more expensive games. You can't take advantadge of your hardware in the vast majority of games, unlike on the PC. You don't have access to over 98% of the games you can play on PC. That is the problem with the Pro. They're even taking the loss for you to get you into their ecosystem, when they should want you there, because then they start to milk you, basically, so that's why it's a slap in the face. It should cost $599 at the most.

First I wanna congratulate you on the fact that you are at least a bit smarter than the idiots posting 700.00 PC builds without RAM or cases to try get the price down. But a smarter fanboy is still a fanboy so I gotta call out your bull 💩 too.... let's start with your 700.00 PC build.
      1) base PS5 CPU is an 8 core 16 thread CPU so you post a 6 core 12 thread CPU to keep price down ....I mean it's not like multicore processing is a thing for gaming. Oh wait it is.....🤷‍♂️🤔
      2) the 6800 is a beast.... and if it was pre-February 2019 I would want your build or if we were looking for general 1440p, no RT, mix of low, medium and high settings with shaky 60fps with FSR2.0....oh wait isn't that what the base PS5 does already?
To make my point....let's look at benchmarks of one of the games that was shown in the PS5 pro reveal, Alan Wake 2. On your 6800 build you'll get 1440p output resolution, FSR2.0, no RT and if you go with all low settings (which will not match the settings of base PS5) your gonna get roughly 70ish FPS.....but if you go with high settings you are gonna end up with sub 60fps performance....if you go mix of low medium and high settings you will get a roughly 60fps experience but at times you will have massive frame spikes into the 40's. Which if you've been paying attention is a near like for like experience with the base PS5.
Now the reason I cited February 2019 is because that's when we saw DLSS implemented in large form to PC games....and in addition to having vastly superior image quality to FSR2.0 in every conceivable metric, DLSS also produces a savings on rendering which translates into performance gains. And what does the PS5 pro share in common with DLSS that your 6800 doesn't have? That's right..... the thing you conviently left out of your description of your 700.00 PC and a big reason why the PS5 pro exist in the first place....PSSR hardware based AI upscaling. You know why people prefer NVIDIA GPU's over AMD GPU's, because NVIDIA has AI upscaling and AMD does not. In fact take the same game, same settings on a 3070 (which as far as paper stats go is slightly weaker than the 6800) and the 3070 is gonna outperform the 6800, why.... hardware AI upscaling which FSR2.0 cannot contend with for image quality and performance gains.
      3) nitpicking time just cause it's fun to mess with you people... why does your 700.00 PC not come with WiFi 7 but the 700.00 console does? Also, PS5 pro comes with a dualsense controller and unless you plan on playing your 700.00 build with hopes and dreams you forgot a piece...and since budget keyboard and mouse combos can be brought from Target for like 20 bucks...I guess you'll throw that in as well cause you have been pushing for low quality hardware with this whole build (except for the 6800 it the only really decent part you included) I shouldn't worry about DPI or mouse acceleration or anything like that....your goal is to prove you can build a 700.00 PC and sometimes you gotta cut corners. Speaking of cutting corners....PS+ is not needed for online games...its needed for some online games, but certainly not all, so at best it's a nice to have but not needed especially if you play alot of singleplayer games and the top multiplayer games.
Now to address your platform warrior spirit that made you post this comment...first I just love how you combined all the workstations and school computers into the title "gaming PC," because I sincerely doubt that a very large portion of that 1.86 billion number you quoted can run modern games well enough to even be considered a gaming device. Hell Steam is the largest distributor of PC games with a user base of 1.39 million according to Steam reports and more than 75% of thier users are on hardware weaker than a 3060 which is about on par with a base PS5. So to be fair, it makes the hardcore dedicated gaming PC community a little less than 25% maybe. Which if we are being honest here...PS4 pro sold to about 20% of the PS community and PS5 pro is likely gonna be less than that because.....well sticker shock. So yeah... fanboys be the smallest segment of gamers talking like they are the majority. Lastly I do want to create a caveat to allow for fanboy migration between platforms, because there are certainly some fanboys who will leave one platform for another, I should know.....I used to game on PC but I didn't want to keep up with the hardware rat race and I don't really have time to bargin shop like that for PC parts and rather than pay significantly more for a prebuilt PC, I chose to get a PS5 because in truth.....the base PS5 is good enough for most people...but if you want a better PS5 then the pro makes sense. It's choice but not too much choice.
As far as the price is concerned, modern hardware to play games is expensive, and you PC weirdos do people a disservice trying to get them into the PC space with outdated hardware that they will most certainly have to upgrade in a year or two as games get more demanding. Ya'll would do better recommending the higher end 2000.00-3000.00 hardware that will be in the upper echelon and drop down to middle of the pack than recommending these 700.00 budget builds because at the mid tier to low end a console is gonna always come out better on Price to performance, and no amount of dishonest downplaying or 🧢 against the console will change that fact.

@@corey_massey You talk a lot without knowing anything. You use the word "fact", and some wrote en essay lying and being wrong all the time. What matters is the performance. What's the point of having more cores and threads if it performs 10% than a Ryzen 5500? I mean, sure, the i9 10900k has 10 cores, almost double what the i5 12600k has (this one has 6. The other 4 PCores aren't used in gaming), but it doesn't outperform it. This should be obvious for anyone. Do you know or remember what an FX 8350 was? Cores and threads don't matter. What matter is the performance.
Why do you care if "NVIDIA has AI upscaling and AMD does not", when AMD has access to XeSS? Which is looking better than PSSR, according to the issues we saw on the presentation. Also: no, the 6800 isn't running Alan Wake 2 worse than the Pro. That console is running that game at 864p on the presentation. Oh, and the 6800 not only gets XeSS. It gets Frame Generation too, and you can take advantadge of that GPU on any game you want, so in practice your experience will be MUCH better than on the Pro. You can go for a 7700 XT if you really need better rt performance on top of better FG, because it's around the same price, but we are talking about getting double the framerate on games now.
Bro... it costs like $15 to add 5Ghz Wi-Fi there. You aren't going to get over the $3640 more you spend on avarage in $7 years gaming on consoles because of game pricing, or the $560 for PS Plus. What do you mean it's not needed for online games? It is. "For some", you say, knowing very well that you only don't need them for F2P titles. You don't even have cloud saves without it. A mouse and keyboard cost like $10. Just... stop it. You're not looking good here.
I'm talking about gamers, meaning people who game on PC. If I was counting any computer, close to half the world population would own one. Steam is the largest distributor, not the only place you have to play games. League of Legends alone has more monthly active players than the numbers of PS5 and Series S|X owners numbers combined, and it's not on Steam. Do you see Minecraft, Roblox or Fortnite on Steam? Escape From Tarkov is not on Steam. Same with WoW, there's a popular store called Epic. Valorant isn't on Steam either. Do you see Genshin, ZZZ, Honkai Star Rail, Wuthering Waves, or any of those there too? Steam is not PC gaming.
There are way more people with PCs that outperform consoles than current gen consoles owners too. Why do you think that the peak player count for Black Myth: Wukong was 3.0 million, and 2.4 million from those where on Steam alone, when the game is on Steam, Epic, WeGame and PS5? Here is your answer: a lot of people own good PCs. "I used to game on PC but I didn't want to keep up with the hardware rat race"... Then... don't, and stop lying about hardware upgrade. You don't need them every 2 years, because as long as your PC is as good as a console, you're good for the entire generation (it could even be a bit worse and still run games).

If I went with the 4090 that would’ve been 5K 😅 so yeah I think 800-900 for a ps5 pro might not be the worst deal if you wanna deal with overpriced games, Paying for Online, Relying on developers to give you some sort of graphical choice or anything over 60 fps running at max settings is almost a myth, no support for ultra wide displays, no real choice of accessories outside of a few Sony approved once. I dunno it sounds like a bad deal for me personally. If they add display port and ultra wide support I might consider one cause I do have a nice library of games there that simply cannot bring myself to play when I compare it to my pc and the entertainment I get out of it.

It's not just hardware prices, ffxvi is 80 euros on PS store but only 50 on steam (40 on greenmangamimg) that's half the price. Wukong, similar story, 70 on PS store but only 60 on steam (49 on greenmangamimg) and the list goes on. Also you don't need a subscription for online play. At 430 for the base ps5 it's reasonable but at 800 euros for the pro you can build an equivalent PC or much better for a bit more and you make up for it in a few games worth because of PC sales. Also epic store gives free games on a weekly basis and some of them are better than PSN free titles and you don't have to worry about PS4 vs ps5 native support and if they will run at 60 fps or not...

I mean, the thing is that most people want a good gaming platform to play modern videogames. They don't have to think about the things people say you have to think about when getting into PC gaming, because there are ways to get around it. If there weren't, then your avarage "new to gaming" content creator wouldn't be able to use a PC.
PCs can be used as a console, with a controller on a living room. Is it less straight foward than a console? Yes, 100%, but even kids can manage to get there. It's not hard. We all know how to use a computer. That's the problem, and the reason why PC gaming grew so much. Not everyone gets a gaming platform just to play very casually with friends, to jump to FC, or to have something to play with on the living room. Are there people who are looking for that? Yes, but I think there are even more players who are just looking for the best gaming platform they can get for their money, and in this case, a PC gives you a lot more for the same amount of money.

For me it's not even the $700 price tag, rather it's spending that much just to be stuck on the close-ended Sony ecosystem where I'm at the mercy of developer support for key features like HDR and VRR, where I pay for online access, and where I only have one option as to where I buy my games - which are consequently more expensive on average.

I think PlayStation failing to provide a native playing handheld to compliment my PS5 with seamless and free cloud saves was a large factor in me deciding to depart from PlayStation, also PS+ price increases.
When I realized my annual PS+ was up for renew in 3 months I removed my card info and immediately turned around and bought a RTX 4070 Super, Meshroom S v2, multiple case fans, SCUF Envision Pro, Steam Deck OLED and pre-ordered a copy of Elden Ring + SOTET for Steam. Since then I have not purchased software on PS5, opting to move my purchases to Steam. Also, I am rebuying my PS library on Steam. I pretty much paid my way out of toxic relationship with PS and honestly if they didn't push me to the edge and ignore my needs the money I've spent and continue to spend on PC would have been PlayStation's.

First of all everything is more expensive due to inflation-food, gas whatever, electronics are no exception. People don't complain when they're getting a new $1000+ phone every year. Most of the people complaining just don't have the cash for it, a lot of us that's just a day or two of work to buy a pro it's not a big deal

But... you could start buying the games you don't have on PC, not pay for PS Plus, and start saving thousands in a matter of years. Consider this: spending just $10 a week less in 7 years adds up to $3640. You are way too active? Double that amount. You rarely play? Use half of it, but on top of what ever number you have there, you would have to add another $560 for PS Plus.
You can outperform the PS5 Pro with a nice $710 PC build and start saving money instead of selling your PS5 to get a PS5 Pro. Are you going to be replaying your library when over 98% of games aren't even playable on PS5? Be real. You could be, instead, replay games you actually didn't play in a while, like GTA IV, now that everyone is talking about GTA VI, or taking advantadge of your newer hardware with older games too, without having to wait for Sony to give you an update for the Pro. And if you're on Xbox, you don't even have to move your library. You can play your games on PC too, or at least a good number of them.

The PS5 Pro is absolutely NOT going to drive people to PC. The Pro is not the mainstream model. Sony knows this. It's an extra thing for the ultra enthusiast with the money to spare. As long as the mainstream model is kept down, there's no one going to PC that isn't already.
Plus a lot of people don't want to game at their desk, where they have been doing work at already all day. They want to sit back on a couch or bed and play in a more comfortable position and possible on a bigger screen. For me I prefer to be at a desk, but many don't.

Also due to inflation and corrupt politics on employment makes it impossible not only finding the extra money but also finding the extra time to play games. So working more to buy the unreasonably expensive option and even pricey games (assuming you can find a new game from sony) you will fight hard to find time since you need to work extra to pay for them. So no i dont need new games and electronics, I just keeping play my old games on my old electronics.
