The new 2022 #Yamaha #R7 has officially landed and to find out how this new breed of sports bike handles, we sent Toad off to Almeria to try the bike on the road and the track.
With the engine out of the all-conquering MT-07, the new Yamaha R7 features a heavily revised frame, suspension, and R series bodywork.
Here’s what we learned about the new bike.

I have a 2016 MT-07 still and did have a reservation for a Blue R7 which I cancelled as I ended up getting the Toyota GR Yaris Circuit Pack.
Now with the new R7 60th Anniversary edition livery it's tempting to try and get a hold of one.
R7 is an awesome looking machine with real world power which can be fully used everyday.

I watched this video on the back of the title...... Hoping that Yamaha had released an in-line 4 750cc bike with loads of power and trick bits..... How disappointed I was when I discovered it's basically a learner bike with unexciting power figures and an exhaust note that sounds like a wet fart.

Its not a competitive sport bike so why make the ergos like its a GP bike? Does Yamaha think that all their customers will be trailering this bike to tracks solely? There are plenty of ways to make ergos fit riders taller than your Mother and still promote a stance amenable to racetrack handling.

The comfort of a hypersport race bike and half the power of most of the competition? So, it’s frustrating on track with other similarly sized bikes and it’s miserable around town. Fun combination!
If the bike isn’t designed to be ridden at the limit … maybe it doesn’t need industry leasing discomfort any time you’re perched on it.
Does sound like an R1, or the R6 formula. The R3 is still a powerhouse for engines of that size and the comfort is more present for every day stuff.
The R7 shouldn’t have an R badge. If they named it something else it wild to be collated as directly to other R bikes.
