    Hi everyone, today is November 09 2021, I am watching this series from Brazil. I miss America, I worked as framer from 1993 thru 2008 in New England, Connecticut and Massachussetts for the most part, but we build houses in Upper NY State, Vermont, Maine, New Jersey New Hampshire. Learned everything on this business. I miss USA.

    Simple tip. Instead of grabbing your speed square to check the plane with your gun hand, use the nail feed rail of the framing gun. That is also straight and a bit longer. Keeping your framing gun in your hand will help nailing it off faster before the framing members move on you.
    Cheers

Can't wrap my head around inches though as we had switched to metric before I started. Older guys will still use Imperial and we use it for certain materials.

    Just subrscribed...loving your channel. I am a contractor/framer in central illinois. 37 years old been doing it since I was a kid. I was wondering about the the way you do your drywall backers. Is truss lift not an issue in your climate? Here we use a lot of metal angle at the walls and truss floater brackets so in the winter the inside drywall corners don't crack at the ceiling.
    Also how do you get attic ventilation with blocks between the trusses at the walls. Seems like in some place it would not let the soffit vent work ( maybe you don't use soffit vent). I was also surprised to see you using your speed square on every tail to set the subfascia. We always do that on each end then sight down to get it straight. Seems like the truss tails are never good enough to go by ( not because the walls are up and down but because the trusses we get just suck like that. Maybe you have better truss builders where you are)
    Also my brother never wears his bags!!!. If his/my mom and dad weren't the owners of the company I would fire his ass ;) Keep up the awsome content man. Be safe

    I have a question: for 60mm wood (2.36' or 2' 18/50) 3' 1/2 nail are enough? (3' 1/2 in metri is 89mm)
    IMHO seems to be not enough ...89-60=29mm. 29mm of penetration is less than half of
    thickness

    • @MattBangsWood
      @MattBangsWood  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      By doing it on edge, you're mimicking a truss bottom chord. On edge and flat to the top of a wall, it could be out of plane and you'd never know until drywallers do their thing. :)

    Why are truss ends getting cut is the other end strung during place ment and the other haves variations?

      @MattBangsWood  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We cut all sides, a set number off of framing.. in this case, 10-1/2” from shear panel. Once subfascia went on, we had a 12” overhang.

    Matt why doesn't your truss company cut those overhang ends in the factory for ya ??

    • @MattBangsWood

      It’s not an accurate way of doing things, it’s typical on tract homes where speed is everything. We want our fascia straight, so we cut every tail.

      You’ll find out on the next episode! A cricket looks like roof framing used to divert water to a place where it can run off safely without risk of leak!
