Thanks for the comparison! My wife broke my old St Croix 7' panfish ultralight rod and am looking for a replacement. I loved the casting action and feel of my old Panfish rod with the full cork handle but it feels like St Croix REALLY cheaped out with the new Panfish series. My older Legend Elite light fast action I have doesn't feel right casting the light rigs and honestly feels overpowered for a non-tourney nobody like me. Looks like I'll be giving the Avid series a try.
@@SteveChenFishing Steve best For The money AVID I understand But if you got the money what did you buy Best Panfish rods Tell me bro best regards Mark
I will never buy a rod with steel guide inserts again. I had one from a very reputable company and the large main guid and tip top got chewed up/ pitted (used in fresh water only) and abrasive in a very short time. This caused line frays and lost fish until I figured out what was happening. The company substantially upgraded my replacement rod free of charge with one that did not have metal insert trash guides once they also saw the issue for themselves in hand. YMMV but I know what I’m not buying from now on.
@@SteveChenFishing I have no experience with recoil guides but I have heard of wear with them on fly rods. I even rewrapped some fly rods with single foot, small diameter, Alconite guides. Honestly, I want something like light weight Alconite or Aluminum Oxide rings on all my rods. No more metal inserts for me.
I persanl found the reguler panfish seres to be the best the litel bit of extra sinsativay is not worth the price inches i have a 7 foot light what extra fats with a shamon 500 size reel using 6 lbs suffix Brade to a 4 lmao floral leader and have cought everything from large bass to trot and 15 inch croppy and I can feel everything throw the rod just fine
Aren't the two other rods more expensive then the Panfish base model? To me the more expensive rod is made of a more sensitive blank, so your findings are self evident?

Haha thx for watching! Yea the cork handle on the avid feels pretty comfortable
Thanks for comparing all 3 different price point panfish rods from St Croix.
Thx for watching 😎
Steve your videos should b famous. We need more.
Thx bro for watching!!! 😎
Really, really awesome comparison.
Thx for watching Thomas😎
I own the Legend Elite and this is by far my favorite rod. I understand the price but you only cry once. I love it! I can feel fish swimming by. LOL
Same here, such a great rod!!!
Good job bruh. I totally agree. I have all three. 👊🏽
Thx yea great minds think alike 😎
I would like to see a comparison fishing test comparing the St. Croix Avid Panfish ultralight with the TFO ultralite
The Avid is more premium. More sensitive, little bit firmer, faster.
That’s right! You described it in a much better way!
Unfortunately I don’t have any of these rods 🤣
thanks for doing this
Thx for watching 😄
Good stuff! Curious about fishing line! what do you like use?
Thx for watching 😎10 lb braid + 6 lb FC leader for most cases. For snaggy area with cover 6 lb FC main line.
Steve,
What do you use for line braid, mono, or fluorocarbon. For trout I use braid for main line and 2-3 of fluorocarbon lead. Bass just braid.
10 lb braid and 6 lb FC leader, or 6 lb FC (for snaggy places where braid will be vulnerable)
Think the avid would be good to fish spinners for stock trout?
Yea definitely
Hi Stevie so you prefer avid panfish rods ? It is 4-8lb 3/16-1/4? Thanks Stevie
Hi yea I prefer Avid panfish. 7 light. 2-6 lbs, 1/16-3/16 oz. Much better quality than base panfish.
@@SteveChenFishing Thanks Stevie
Stevie thanks, So you say AVID for your best choice correct?
@@Wilson-Combat.45.Thanks for watching bro. Yes best for the money, AVID.

Question, would the hyperfast medium acid be great for trouts ? Or would you see a better option, version ? Thanks for help:)
I think so. Depending on what kind of lure you’re going to use.
@@SteveChenFishingthanks usually use 3 inches Toronto wobbler spoons with worms:)
what reel you using size
Vanford 2500-3000 very well balanced. If you use heavier reel go smaller in size.
I order a Avid 6' UL from AMZ it came in a bag, no box and it was damage
Return it my friend… it happens a lot especially if shipped by USPS or UPS
Do you live in Knoxville Tennessee that place looks so familiar
No I wish I can visit and fish the Tennessee river but this was in MA 😄
You have them in the right row

That’s a very good point!!! What’s your opinion on the recoil alloy guides on top Loomis rods? I’m not sure if those have the same issue.

Yea those alumina guides should last for a long time

The main finding is most cost efficient one in my opinion is the middle one, avid, not the high end one
