- We made it to Las Vegas to start our first leg of summer vacation! We had to check out the @NinjaKidz trampoline park in Las Vegas, then we travel to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. We got off to a rocky start though when Hertz refused to rent us a car without a credit card.. since we were traveling from one state to another i had to book a flight out of Tulsa and they still wouldn't honor our reservation for a van... 70 or not you need to go to Las V😊Vegas and take Coach bus to the Grand Canyon😊 I stayed at the Mirage. Right on the main strip.

I ran into the same problem when I flew to Tucson. I booked a car through Enterprise online. They denied me because I didn't have a credit card. I was lucky enough to find a local rental company that took cash or debit card.
Were you renting that car one way or local? As the man explained in the video. If he were going local it wouldn't have been a problem, but he wanted to drop the car off in Tulsa not in Las Vegas where he rented it.
@ebenezerwheezer2957 I rented for local. I took a taxi to my hotel. Called around. I busted wanted it to see the sites of Tucson for 2 weeks.
We don't use credit cards either. We have a debit bank card with a Visa or MasterCard logo. As long as you have that logo, you can run your debit bank card as "Credit" works like a charm. You won't put your PIN in but it still "debits" the same way it would if you did. Hope this helps. Beautiful vacay with the Fam!!! I'm a native AZ. It is beautiful! The Hoover Dam---even sitting in front of my computer made me a bit spooked to look down. What a great vacay and see all that you have been able to see. Only GOD could make something this vast and BEAUTIFUL! How great is our GOD! Wonderful sunset--- "BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD" Psalm 46:10.
I have a credit card, but I pay it off immediately. Didn’t have one for years, but I am alone, elderly, the last of my family… I have it for emergencies. I also get discounts with it ;) …Your trips look like so much fun! ❤❤❤
My dad loved Dams, so when I was a kid we went to several, including the one you went too. Thank you for all different views of the Grand Canyon. The last time I was there I was a teenager, and was with my dad, youngest sister and only brother. That was 53 years ago. That sunset was beautiful!

I have never been to the Grand Canyon. It truly is beautiful. When you and the boys were hiking trying to catch the sunset and were close to an edge my stomach literally did back flips. I am scared of heights and was panicking just watching. Thank you for taking us along on your family adventure.
All? I could say about the Grand Canyon with all the different colors of the in the rocks. In the boulders is wow. Wow, wow, that's awesome.
That's been their policy for 50 years. We couldn't rent a car, for years because of that. Even though we had letters from our employers etc.. we never got approved by Hertz but we by other smaller rental companies. Try other companies. Find one that works With you and give them your best business.
I don't use credit cards and everything I own is paid for for over 50;years and I am staying that way I have an MBA degree and I know better than plastic suicide.Youre doing great !!!!!!

I do have a card but I only use it if I can pay it off in the month! But I was wondering if you had to pay extra for the flight or did you just have to sorta book it? Was Hertz the only rental car place there?
Smaller rental companies most likely won't let you rent a car one way.
They have always been that way. I only use my debit card myself.

The Grand Canyon is amazing. I have been to all the locations they offer. You are giving your children a wonderful base knowledge, and that is very rare in today’s society.
We had that same difficulty. Our old Toyota was kind of sketchy for making our trip from Texas to visit the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. Well, we just left and used our old car and the Lord kept us safe the whole wonderful trip! 🙏

Be very, very careful with Hertz. Be certain you thoroughly document your return, especially with your unusual return circumstances. DO NOT do a drop off return, check it back in with an agent, and hang on to the paperwork. They have a bad history of "forgetting" that folks have checked their cars in, and arresting them weeks later for grand theft auto.

We stopped at a Road Kill Cafe in PA years ago. It was inexpensive, and adorable. We even got a printed menu of the Road kill dishes. Thank you so much for taking us along. I have never been to Vegas and its over 50 years since I was to the Grand Canyon. Safe travels.

How lucky to have a beautiful sunny day for the Grand Canyon! It was overcast and misty for our trip. When we went in 1988 with our kids, many of the amenities, trails, visitors center, shuttle buses were more primitive or nonexistent. Bumper to bumper traffic , inadequate parking. Back then, you found whatever parking you could along the road and walked to some designated viewpoints. Wasn’t the safest. Glad to see the improvements.

I'm the same way...NO credit cards, they are a trap that destroys lives financially. I have also had the rent a car issue as well. Hope you are having a great vacation!

The only people that should own a credit card are the people that can control their spending If you have one but don't have more than one thousand dollar limit It's good if you want to order items online which most people do 🇨🇦🦩

I have the same philosophy about Debit Cards but I found that bank's debit card works as a credit card when it is needed for a car rental etc. The amount of $$ still comes immediately from the checking account. So it's a case of semantics I guess. Fun Fact: There was once one kind of squirrel at the grand canyon area but after many many years of being separated by the growing cavern, they developed into two different colors completely. :)
I've used credit cards for years and almost always pay before being charged any interest or fees. You also get cash back and rewards for using even when we pay before interest
I can't imagine traveling without a CC and never knew you could rent a car with Debit cards

I went to Vegas for 25 years in a row for a business conference...last time being 2019 and Covid cancelled 2020.. have seen every show there, did a helicopter tour of the grand canyon and now I have no reason to go back..lol I would like to go to the sphere to see the show there though. Glad you guys had fun...and yes, the strip is definitely not for young eyes.

Thanks for that beautiful sunset over the Grand Canyon! I am 68, and was there when I was in 4th grade, many years ago! My dad had to attend a YMCA convention in Los Angeles, so we drove across country from Michigan, and got to stop and see the sights along the way. It is so cool that you guys are taking your kids on these trips every year to see all the different states. God bless you! ❤
I closed all my credit cards back in 1996 when my ex wanted a divorce. I keep one card now but only use it to rent catds and hotels, I then oay cash when I xheck out or trun tge car. It works even in Europe and Asisa i pay cash for everything so totally agree. It is too bad more folks don"t use cash and get out of debt
We cut all ours up in 2009 and had no regrets or real problems until now

It amaises me how much it has changed even in the last couple years. I was there in may of 23 tons of construction going on.
