Releasing new ships is about 8 years too late. They should have done and kept up this type of content update in the first 2-3 years, not 10 years later when game is almost dead. Even people who are interested will just launch the game and fly it once, then never play the game again.

If this game had ship interiors with seamless entry/exit from ships and atmospheric landings like braben promised, it would be the ultimate space game.

@@barking_mad6649it would be easy to integrate horizons/odyssey content into the interior of the ship and it could make it so that hiring crew members actually has a purpose besides ship launched fighters.
One thing Elite always did well was making every ship feel and sound so different. I hope one day there is a reason for me to come back to this game.

Fools and their comments. Odyssey is exactly what the community wanted except fdev was stupid in releasing it unfinished when it was released. Odyssey has been fixed for a while now and its great. They just need to continuously add content now. All you haters that haven't played it are missing out on good action.
Easily the best looking ship based on these images. It reminds me slightly of the Drake Vulture from Star Citizen but in a really welcome way. Absolutely love how those engines are looking

@@Venhili I believe the joke goes over your head. The Drake Vulture is pretty much a direct copy of the much older Venture from Eve Online.
Whether it's a malicious ripoff, or an homage, is up to the viewer.
Frontier should be creating all new ships like this with full interiors, and give players a real incentive. Great looking ship, hope this sells well for them.
FDev can’t create ship interiors, the game engine is not designed for that
If they can make interiors of buildings... they can make interiors of ships. Maybe we gotta use the portal to pop into the ship and a portal to pop into the seat but its unreasonable to say their engine cant make interiors when they very clearly can. Doesnt have to be 100% star citizen style but it could happen. @@Mr.Free2Play
What they really need to do is balance combat to make it actually dangerous. Combat balance is 6 years overdue
Out of everything, yall choose the worst game system to create. It'd be a nightmare for both devs and resources to make, introduce an insane amount of issues and bugs, all for your 5 minutes of sight seeing. Just look at SC, they still haven't fixed their interior systems to be stable.
No, id rather actual tangible game mechanics that'd keep me coming back instead of glorified sight seeing that'll break the game every update.

It seems to me that it is worse that we cannot go out into space with the suit, to do mechanics of all kinds... the interiors of the ships, if they are not accompanied by some mechanics, are a useless resource (my personal opinion)

Seriously though, I like the idea of maintenance on the outside of the ship. And ship interiors without mechanics would be more for RP purposes, completely useless without friends.... Which most of us don't have anyway.
You think it would be a worthwhile investment for them to spend the insane amount of development time to completely model the inside of every ship just so everyone can walk around their ship for 5 min and then never do it again?
So many better features to spend dev time on that actually enhance gameplay.

I really like the look of the ship, but it doesn't strike me as a cargo vessel, it is not boxy enough. It looks more like a an utility or industrial craft, something you'd use (in lore) as a tug boat, repair van or a survey vessel.
Makes me think of the Millennium falcon, I think one of the og designs had it as a vessel that would hold containers in the 'prongs' ? search 'millennium falcon cargo design. Not that that mechanic is in the game though, I always thought it would be cool to have these huge ships that would act like tugs, or just engines for bigger loads in space where aerodynamics isn't a concern.

@@jaykay5838 The problem with that is no money or Devs to create another game engine. That’s a 5-10 year project just creating the engine. Another 2-3 years at best , creating another ED with the new game engine. Myself & probably every player wants ED on a new game engine to really bring out what’s needed in ED. But sadly we know it won’t happen.

Hmmm, a medium pad ship designed for cargo hauling? Sounds promising, but needs to be a better trading ship than the og Python to be worth investing in.

I would be really excited for vr support for all the odyssey content. Doesn’t seem too far either as it is almost here.
New ships is cool and all but completing the VR experience would be great. It is literally the best way to experience the game so its a shame it is not fully supported.

They're always vague about everything, like they're guarding humanity's greatest secret that we're not ready to handle. This kind of ridiculous secrecy is a hallmark of developers who have no idea what they're doing.

I’m by no means a developer myself but I work in an industry that is all about pushing boundaries. If you are working on something you naturally want to do the best you can do. If the community is critical and skeptical
and overrall hard to please then would that not inspire you to dig deep and do stellar work?
I feel that the attitude towards the developers is deserved. There is room for redemption of course, but end of the day, if they put love into this game they will receive love back.

That depends per person, some certainly will find it as inspiration to make things better to shut down nay sayers. Yet some will find it disheartening, to point to give up, either by leaving company or just doing bare minimum boss tells you to do... At worst some will broke down in depression making them unable to do much.
I do hope they are now on path to make things better, but how long it be is question one has to ask to company it self since in last years they been in bit of a bind...
@@kptparker If constructive criticism is seen as disheartening then i’d argue they dont have what it takes.
As professionals we dont always get the feedback we like but we have to put our big boy pants on and fight fires.
If we dont then we aren’t worthy. Somebody else will.
At the same time workload needs adequate compensation. Give the devs decent pay, good hours and incentives and you’ll attract the best people for the job.
If you provide all that, a great place to work, great salary and work / life balance and they still cant do the job, then sack them. There will always be more people waiting in line prepared to do great things so long as you meet their basic and ambitious needs.
Business is nothing more than a contract.
If it works for them it should work for you and in turn work for us the consumer. Its not really that difficult.
Just goes to show that proper leadership is a skill. Without it your project cannot succeed. With adequate leadership with compromises on both sides there would be nothing stopping them transforming this game into the vision they originally had for the game.

Looks like a star citizen Drake Vulture or an eve online Venture. A common shape.
Credit where credit is due. That's actually a nice looking ship. Still, my main critique of the game is the shallow gameplay systems. The ships can be the nicest ones out there, if the gameplay is boring and not engaging, it's all for nothing. Also, their recent move with the ingame cash price raise and buyable ships, it makes sense for them to release more ships that they can sell or make sellable variants off of.
Looks amazing, hope we get an Alliance combat version at some point!

@@HarenunHoppusevery overpriced jpeg in sc you can buy for ingame credits grinded for like 2 days. In ed you need to grind for 40 weeks. I dont know what you want to say here, but even as a ed fan it was realy wierd to read...
What's breaking the immersion for me in E&D is that the ships are waaay too big for a single pilot to operate if the game was to be ''realistic''...
yeah, I never understood why we can buy SLF crew but not regular ship crew. The previous Elites had a minimum number of crew to fly each ship, as well as an optimum number. You couldn't depart without the minimum - but that became a right PITA with the large ships and a limited pool of available crew. It could take months (the fast forward time helped). In the end though, having imaginary crew onboard that just suck credits is not very engaging. Would have had a lot of potential for wandering around ship internals though.

Hope they continue to work on the game... One feature I'd love to see is Odyssey VR w/ proximity chat like VR Chat- This would be game changing and I'd burn 1000s of hours if they added it.
Supercruise overcharge? Holy shit it's like they're actually addressing things people complain about. If they rework the on-foot engineering progression I might actually get back into this game
New cockpits for Ship releases is what I'm interested in the most, but brand new designs like this are pretty cool. Shame it took P2W ship selling for this to happen...

Go and play Star Citizen then. For me however, gameplay is more important than walking around in ships.
@@cmdrandreyuenari4150Lol , you don’t even know gameplay. Here’s our gameplay, load up vehicles in a ship with a big groups of players, take a mission, share it with the party , then unload vehicles to start bunker , cave or Distribution centers missions. Neither of which is in ED.
ED even the "space legs" are shit. They couldn't do one thing right. The "immersion" is endless grinding for engineering components
@@Mr.Free2Play I've seen those "gameplay" loops. It usually takes 12 hours for a group to complete due to everyone in the group crashing out of the gmae randomly over. It's especially hilarious to watch the group chanting "I hate this game...I hate this game....I hate.....I love....I love this game...I love this game."
@@mojoxftn1526yes, i played it a bit too and it was just not ready. you can't walk in your ship cos when you do you'll be tp outside of your ship cruising at light speed lmao, so it's basically like not having it. boarding ships would be cool asf but for ed it needs a tons of work in game design and engine's upgrades to be a real thing. and btw everything he said "they have in star citizen" there are in every single space game, everyone. in ed you can outfit your ships with friends playing with 3/4 of them in a single ship, loading on board vehicles and fighters and go to planetary outposts, salvageable crash sites, do exploration missions, combat on foot and in space, pve and pvp, and tbh there are even more things to do then sc. even in no man sky you can do literally the same things as ed and sc and sacrificing realism these things work maybe even better lol

I have been a player for years and since the beta of the game. Now it's too late... I recently moved to Star Citizen and I don't see any reason to go back to Elite 🤷♂️
It's not like you signed a contract. You can play any game any time.

It looks very Star Citizen styling compared to their usual ships, also doesn't really look like a Lakon ship. I like it, but I feel like it should have been another ship manufacturer. Shame it is about 5 years late.

I miss this game. When they did the whole transfer thing i lost my main account from xbox and the grind and gameloop was a little too much for me to do a second time. Played a lot in 2015-2017

A trader cargo ship? lol half the ship is just engines, forks and landing gear, wheres the cargo supposed to fit? in looks more like a multipurpose explorer, miner, fighter krait mk3 that can also transport cargo on the side.
Speaking of, I'd be genuinely impressed if they did make a ship that lashed cargo visibly and correctly counted on the outside.

I mean , FDev releasing a ship is ok I guess. It has no interior & the multi crew is still terrible. Another Armstrong moment that ruins every ED ship.
It's a nice looking ship, not enough to get me playing the game again. I would like to see Frontier start listening to the community, this is only but a small bit of requests that have been made thus far.

@@HrWisch it's a lighting bug that was only affecting VR players that since Update 18 (where they supposedly fixed it for VR) made it happen pretty much everywhere. They acknowledged the bug on their tracker and are apparently working on a fix, when is it coming though? Your guess is as good as mine.

First Lakon ship that i like.
Looks cool, still not enough to get me to reinstall the game, not without gameplay and story overhauls, which considering Frontier is already having financial issues, and E;D feels all but abandoned save for this singular ship, is not likely to happen.
What's sad is that in the time it took Frontier to release this singular ship, CIG, the creators of Star citizen and famed for their slowness, released about 5 new ships. 5 ships you could walk around in with space legs, had fleshed out interiors, and interactable objects within said interiors. Frontier released a cockpit view with an exterior, with no space legs required, Frontier should be cranking these ships out at a pace that outstrips CIG, but instead it's reversed.

I wonder if the mission specific feature will be “cargo bay only” dedicated large internal slots? Like two or three size 6 cargo bay slots, making it dedicated to purpose while denying multi-purpose functionality.

I really like this new ship. The one thing that I never liked about Elite Dangerous and Eve Online was the lack of scale. About the only thing that I was sure about was how big the "POD" or "Capsule" was with E.O. I always like to know the sense of scale in games; just my inner toad talking, I suppose. RIBBIT!!!

I still play, when the mood is upon me, and I need to cruise the vastness of the black. I will try out this ship and see how roleplaying a merchant turns out.

It looks like it might attach something on top increasing it cargo capacity over its internal volume. That could be the specific feature?
The problem with scale is because the HUD looks like it's on your face. When in reality, they are in front of your foot.
I will be mindblown if frontier actually start making a viable game out of Elite after all these years.. might actually incentivise me to come back to it!!
very cool that it can land on medium pads, but i'd love to see the option to summon a tender from smaller spaceports to service/refuel/rearm large-pad ships, even if you can't land there. i'm honestly surprised it's never been done...
