Those cameras back then gave a good and true sensation of speed. I remember Prost stating that he had in that corner 4.9g lateral acceleration in qualy
@@mickeynismocat how's that?? Took him 4 seasons to win a single race even though he had V10 pegueot power 94 Mercedes V10s 95,96,97 and although his engines were unreliable, they were reliable enough to see the checked flag over 40 times. (I counted them) Where was he ?? Could you honestly see prime Schumacher, Senna taking that long to win a single race ??
It's a shame that Mclaren didnt let Mika driver from the very beginning in 1993...he would have most likely done SO much better job than Michael Andretti that year...and also it's a shame that was the last year Mclaren really had the chance to fight for the championship until 1998, so we could say that Mika got to Mclaren race driver in the wrong time =/....also it is told that Williams would make contract with Mika at end of 1992 for 93 year, but Lotus team management didnt allow it to happen =/
It would have made for a much better season imo. With Mika in the team Senna suddenly woke up, fighting with Alesi for the lead in Portugal before his car broke. Then having back to back dominant victories in Japan and Australia. McLaren would have been much more of a threat had Mika been there all season.
I really wanted Andretti to succeed in F1, but he was clearly out of his league. Hakkinen and Senna would have made a very strong lineup for 1993 at McLaren.
Agreed. I'm American, so had a vested interest in Andretti, even though I found his personality a bit irritating at times, but a full season of Senna/Hakkinen would have been spectacular. Hakkinen might have taken enough points off of both Prost and Senna to make the championship even closer. I loved Mika. One of my all time favorite drivers.
@@fiarandompenaltygeneratorm5044 It would have been such a legendary piece of history to see Mika fight with Senna and Prost in their prime on equal machinery.
@@timmy6588 exactly, Andretti had no dedication to F1. I don't think he even wanted to be an F1 driver, more of a 'lets see what the fuss is all about'. Mansell moved to America and won, Villeneuve the same but in the other direction and many many more examples. Andretti only ever came to Europe for the race weekends, in a time where F1 had unlimited testing, that I am sure McLaren would of taken advantage of and shoved him in the car as much as possible to get him up to speed.
@@4Leka Mika would've got demolished by senna. All 3 races senna dominated him and the next two qualifiers, Japan, Australia. That McLaren with a more powerful engine could challenge Williams hardly, it was a very good car
Out qualified Senna here on his first race with McLaren!
Yea senna beat hakkenin in the races though and he beat him up in the next two qualifiers, Japan, Australia

Mika in the 80's would have won 2 or 3 championships. Maybe more than that
Active suspension car must have been very cool to drive, seems so softer compared to 1994 f1 and later
Andretti: "This car is just so damn complicated!"
Hakkinen: "Seems fine to me mate."
Why does formula 1 seem faster here than the current
Lighter, smaller, nimbler cars, and better camera angles.
This is why I believe in Customer engines like four cars worth the kind of stuck without a manufacture and for almost a decade they couldnt win again!
