Pierce has to catch that beauty of a throw. Could not make a throw more perfect than that. Maybe the WR turning his shoulder to the turf instead of landing directly onto the ball allowing it to squeeze out.

    Timestamps:
00:48 AR's interception: RPO gone wrong, panic throw, multiple errors.
04:14 Zone read play: Richardson's agility, making defenders miss, anticipation on the read.
06:07 Incomplete pass: Miscommunication on route execution.
09:16 Successful pop pass: Tight window, execution against tough coverage.
11:27 Oustanding anticipation: Middlefield closed, threading the needle, tough coverage.
13:10 Impressive throw: Deep corner route, precise placement, difficult decision.
16:06 Overall: Richardson's athleticism, passing skills, anticipation, and room for improvement.

I was there in person. With Josh being out, Anthony Richardson was the main person I was watching. And looking back, he's the only Colts QB the entire game that actually felt threatening. On the pick, I think that you were right. The O-line's blocking scheme didn't seem to make much sense. The G and T doubled the 3-tech, and on the weakside, the G should've at least chipped the DE before climbing to the second level. Instead, the DE was given a free run up the middle, b/c the T to that side picked up the CB blitz. Given that they had a man advantage in the box, they probably would've been better off running it.
I'm surprised that you didn't mention the fact that he's not reading the D. These were all pre-designed throws, where the receiver he was throwing to was chosen pre-snap. As for that throw over the middle, I think that that important part of that was not that he threw a 12-yard fastball; it was that he was blind to the backer in the middle of his vision. He never saw him, and he got lucky that he didn't get his hand on it. As to that inside-out route, where he dropped it right in, yes, that was a great throw. But, watching his film, that's the only time out of 10 that he's going to make that throw. That's the important take-away from this. He has zero consistency.

Luck was his own worst enemy. Didn't slide until his last season.
Played 1.5 seasons with a torn labrum. He lied to coaches, mgmt, team doctors & specialist about it not causing pain.
Came clean after signing $100+mil deal then falls on that shoulder while snowboarding while recovering.
He chose a Stanford doctor who specializes in hips & knees for the surgery against the advice of the team.
His doctor bungled the surgery. And he will be the first one to say he didn't listen to PT and raced thru rehab which also set him back.
So yeah, let's blame the team.

Before I watch, I'm sharing my thoughts: AR looked absolutely unready to start, and it's shocking the Colts want to see what happens with him as starter so soon. He does not see the full field, he does not anticipate throws, and he largely ceases to be a QB at all when pressure comes at him. I would bet against him ever having him turn the corner into a serious NFL QB. He does not have a background as a big throwing QB like Lamar Jackson did for instance. Jackson threw the ball a lot in high school and college. AR barely threw it in either. AR mostly only accumulated stats in the 4th quarter of games UF was getting pummeled.

On his pick, the RG didnt check down to his right and attempted to double team the guy the center had. It gave that DL man a straight path to Richardson. I do believe the RG is either a rookie or a younger guy lacking experience

Yep. McKenzie not changing his route put Richardson in a bad spot. But Richardson made the wrong choice. Glad it happened as it will give him something to learn from. If a play breaks down like that it is ok to take a sack or sling it out of bounds.

On that pick, that ball should've been out before the WR finishes his quick cut out. It should've also been low. McKenzie should've had to dive for it. It's either a completion, or the ball is in the dirt.

The RB could have "chipped" the pass rush in play #1. Problem is, he's a nobody, and nobody's don't do shit extra. The RT saw the blitz and picked up the Outside rusher. The RB should also see the blitz coming. This is why the front office loved Joseph Addai so much. He would have picked up that pass rush.

  • @fishrrelaxing9361
    @fishrrelaxing9361 ปีที่แล้ว

Wouldn’t hank be an option route.. Wr has to adjust his route inside vs outside leverage.. outside vs inside or stem back in bracket? I mean if you’re not running that as a choice route based on the defense set and coverage then this is setting up for failure on design concept alone cause read one and two are the same read.. then you moving from one to the other side of the field to the 3 read.. this also doesn’t give much for hots unless you get a Sam blitz.. and running this as a curl woukd make even less ensue cause then you’re coming back into the 2 read and standing 3’ apart from each other..

Love AR - humble likeable kid. AR has a 105 mph fastball and they trying to turn this thrower into a pitcher. Sit him for a year and let him learn. You throw this kid into the fire from the jump and it will be a disaster. He's barely played any football. Everyone is in a rush these days. Minshew knows this offense and he's very smart. He will teach him.

He's Lamar, if Lamar was built like Derick Henry. His success or failure is dependent on what he does over the next 2 years. I think everyone expected a dumpster fire this year, he's the least polished qb in the draft, but if you hit on him and develop him he could be a top 5 qb in 3-5 years. Patience is the name of the game with AR, cause the physical skills are out of this world.
