You spent a fortune, i normally do Calais Port to my villa in Javea in a day of 18 hours, the trick is the time you get to Paris, 2 drivers driving 2 hours and swapping, a 2 hour nap in the back seat is enough for a boost. Your way loses 4 days of any break plus the cost. l have done the journey since 1988.................its changed a lot!. At 77 i will soon pack it in.
Next time consider the ferry, which is more like a cruise ship..Portsmouth to Santander…if u do the math it may not cost much more, if any, it will save on hotel, tolls, fuel etc ……plus u arrive refreshed
@@Travel_with_the_BlairsWe do the ferry three times a year, summer/autumn and winter and depending on the type of cabin you want it can work out cheaper and it’s less tiring.
Thanks for the nice comment😁. Wow, that would be an epic trip. We found it a long enough drive between Essex and Scotland last year. Well worth it for the stunning scenery you have up there though. Hope you get the chance to do your road trip soon.
Enjoyed that. Drove to Germany and Netherlands but not to Spain. I lived in Toulouse and drove through the Pyrenees to Andorra. Now I’m back in the UK, I’m considering driving down to Toledo, so I found your video very helpful.
That is the insanity of cheap flights. The CO2 emissions are 115g per km per passenger so same as the car. Train is far less polluting because French trains are electric powered by nuclear.
I hate flying and on my first time i drove to Europe, mamy mamymamy years ago i absolutely loved it. Any free day. I'll get in the car and go, Europe is the gateway to the world for me. Its all there. Its just how long u are willing to drive for. Try spain to morroco or try uk to turkey. Amazing. Thanks for the vid
Nice vlog. 👍 We do this journey twice a year to southern Spain but using the ferry to Santander or Bilbao. The roads are so much easier to drive on, less traffic and very few tolls in Spain. You didn’t mention to change the direction of your headlights. 🤔
Thanks for the nice comment. We’d like to try the ferry another time so it’s good to hear from others where that option has worked out well. Our headlights changed automatically 🙂
Hiya. We drove over in September and stayed until December and the weather was fab, pretty much the whole time. I’m sure April will be great weather. Enjoy

According to every self respecting anti-EV car person, this should have been done in one hit with only one five minute break for fuel. Even when solo. No other breaks are acceptable.
Electric car in France would have taken an extra day but been less polluting. Car and plane the same for one passenger but plane twice as much as your trip. Plane 115g/km per passenger where as the car 110g/km with one or five passengers.
Brittany ferries..Dont just go on line and look for a price,,,TIP. Ring them on the holiday number(on the web site) We costed the crossing earlier in the year and return was 1000 pound...Exact same crossings with 4 days in hotel in northern Spain that they have to recommend was less than 700...Go figure ..Thank me later
Could not do that in an EV!!! We used to toll road through France in the car as the roads are fab. Do the non toll these day as in the motorhome as no destanation and all part of the adventure.
Nice video - easier to get a 'toll tag' for automatic passage on toll roads - I use Emovis tag - I am able to just drive through the toll plazas.
Thanks for the advice David. We’ll look to get a tag for our next trip

Don Quixote area maybe, not sure.
A flight comes in at £50 return + £20 train from Colchester. 1.5 hours too.

Not in summer it doesn't

Impressive👏I’ve done uk to Barcelona in 2022, cost me around £400 for 5 days
Thanks. We’re actually heading home via Barcelona so we’ll experience a different route back. £400 for 5 days seems good 😊
