In the past we've managed calais to the eastern Spain border in two days without any tolls, bit of a push, early starts etc. Seeing u boil your kettle reminded me that we bought a 1L mains kettle off a charity table somewhere, a mere 350 watts so rather good.
Yes I think if you travel solo, it’s much easier to clock up miles and make spontaneous decisions. We were happy with our progress and it gave us sufficient sleep time to be comfortable on arrival to Spain. Low wattage appliances are handy until it’s your turn to make coffee for half a dozen people 😂 We like a bargain, you did well 👍🏻😃 Trev
Trevor. This is a very useful video. I'm hoping to go down to Spain sometime soon. It will be very useful to me. Just want to thank you for your videos. And make you aware of there value. Which is much Thank you.
Thank you, that’s very kind. We have fun making the videos and sharing things that we think may help others. We appreciate your feedback and will do our best to continue and bring more of the same 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev n Sue

Hi Trev and Sue, a little call at Aldi, a nice run to your first stop off. Looks a nice aire, Wow! -6 thats cold, brrr, looks a foggy start to the day. A nice run to Avignon, sun shining. A lovely run through the villages. Good job you arrived at the aire before the last spaces were taken. Safe journey x Julie and Tony x
Hi Trev and Sue (and Kev and Tracey) a great video as ever and what a great idea to have those camping car parks it’s much better than the services we have over here I have noticed on the continent when we have been that they seem to cater better for motorhomes than we do! I much prefer French motorways too they seem more relaxing to drive in than ours! Glad you have had a great journey and the pictures have been lovely on fb looks like you are all having a great time and hope Oscar is feeling better all the best and safe travels to you all Daniel
Thank you Daniel. We are so appreciative of your comments here and in fb. All is well currently and Oscar is back his old self. We are of course keeping a close eye on him. Best wishes 👍🏻🚐💙 Trev
We have been to Troyes pronounced Trois ,several times,l ,lovely campsite on a lake nearby ,we have booked it again in September, the aire looked good ,so will bear it in mind ,enjoy your trip
Thanks for the tip and the advice we enjoyed the aire as it was fairly spacious and easy to find. There were a few trucks in the lay-by but park at the back and they shouldn’t trouble you 😃🚐👍🏻 Trev
Thank you ☺️ Kev and I took it in turns to lead. We averaged between 50 and 65 miles per hour but using cruise control on the motorways is so much easier than the right foot pedal. 😃🚐👍🏻 Trev
Just love those traffic free motorways in France, such a relaxed drive, unlike those to & from the Shuttle in UK. Looks like southern Spain is having some warm weather at the moment from the forecasts.
Great travelogue as usual, looking forward to rest of the trip. Hate being picky but hope it helps: for pronunciation of Carrefour, think ‘Car - Four’ rather than ‘Carry’ - no emphasis on the e.
That’s a great tip thank you. Car-four it is from now on. Please keep in mind that we are now in Spain so on the return leg through France we will get it right. 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev
@@PoshcatsCamping It’s the half French in me - plenty of English names I struggle with, I’d be useless with Spanish! Thanks for your vlogs, they must take a lot of time to produce but are very informative.

Great vlog, love watching your adventures. Please can you tell me the size of you Bar Amigos water dispenser. I really need to get one of those. Thank you
Hi Trev Sue. Following your new adventure, looks brilliant so far. Love the Aires, we are on camping car as well, haven’t used it yet.!! PS I noticed you have a one piece front cab blind , please have you any info.? I remember IH fitted them for you some time ago. I have a Sprinter which I guess is the same
Hi Steve, the cab blinds are made by Remis but ours are specifically for the VW Crafter or MAN van. There is a set for the Sprinter but make sure you get the right year model. Ours cost around £850 (for the set of three) plus I paid to have them fitted so just over £1K. Expensive but I think they are worth it for when parking in sunshine etc, just for simplicity and convenience. 🚐👍🏻 Trev
Thanks for another great vlog. As a matter of interest would it be possible to give details of the tag you use for the motorways please . I’ve got one but it’s hit and miss if it works.
Here is the link to our tag. It’s reliable in France but you have to get another one for Spain. There are fewer toll roads in Spain so we don’t think the costs are justified. www.emovis-tag.co.uk/subscription/?ref=RF-20231208-AFB3B457
hi Everyone, this was good to see. myself and hubbie will be travelling to France as off the 2nd March and don't intend to go on the toll roads but just in case we want to get a toll tag for if we change our minds. where is the best place to get one. thanks in advance. Love to Oscar and Sophie xx
Toll roads are very convenient and we made good use of the small amount of time we had in Spain rather than on the French roads. Here is a link to the toll tag. www.emovis-tag.co.uk/subscription/
Hi Trev & Sue, just watched the video of you travelling down through France. We have an N680 CRL two weeks into build at IH and I have not specced tank heaters, do you have them on Smirf as you said the temperature was down to -6. Like you we use our van year round and I am not sure if I need to add them. Have a great time in Spain.
Congratulations on your choice of van. We don’t have tank heaters and we have been in minus 6 several times. Last year in Yorkshire we had minus 10 and the cold water tank partially froze and the waste valve froze. It’s so infrequent that this happens, I don’t think it’s worth the money to have them fitted. We wish you luck with your van. Just be careful of sleeping policemen as the electric step has only 6 inches clearance on the Crafter so don’t bounce over them too quickly and you’ll be ok. 😃👍🏻🚐 Trev
Thanks Trev that’s good news with the heaters I won’t bother. Great tip with the step I didn’t know that one. Should have the van early April we can’t wait
@@richardstainthorpe1342 April is a great time to take delivery. The VW Crafter drives like a car. It’s so smooth and comfortable. The IH conversion really works too. Hi Trev and Sue, Just found your channel and I was wondering how you managed and what route did you take to get down to Spain in 3 days? As I am in the planning stage for my wife and I for our 3 month trip starting in April. I take it that you have done this rote before as I want to go back to La Rochelle where we were last year in France for longer later in our trip. Thanks in advance for any help. Regards Drew & Linda🏴
We left England from Folkestone via Le Shuttle on an early train on day 1 and made it as far as Troyes where we stayed on an aire overnight. Day 2 we travelled to Avignon where we stayed on another aire and day 3 we drive to Camping Bellsol in Pineda de Mar on the south coast of Spain near Barcelona. It was a long journey but as long as you are focused and take regular breaks, it’s quite safe. All three days we travelled on the motorways. I hope this helps 👍🏻😃🚐 Trev
Haha… we hadn’t noticed so when we get home we will watch out for it. I don’t remember Sue being commissioned to create ads for EBAC but maybe it’s her new sideline 🤣👍🏻🚐💙 Trev
You may be right there but I think there’s definitely a need for councils to provide services for campervans in places like park and ride or perhaps businesses could be encouraged to share land rather like CLs or CSs in the big clubs. They don’t appear to get vandalism or fly tipping. 😃🚐
