    This pedal really taught me how to play ambient style guitar without having to turn the mix/decay all the way up. I’m super thankful for it.

      I use an AR on Swell into an Afterneath, with a bit of grind on the tone, sounds fantastic, very cello like tone on the heavier strings. I really favour the Swell setting on the AR.

    Hey Bill! I'm part of the faction that probably never will buy any more pedals because I like having everything in one pedalboard modelling unit such as helix or ax8, but your approach is really unique and inspirational and even shows how to be more creative with what you've got! Thanks for the good work!

      Avalanche Run is growing on me. The ND1 I just bought. Love its simplicity! My favorite delay though, is the Nemesis! That was my first one, and it's spectacular! I have the Zoom MS-70CDR too, and it does some crazy fun stuff! I know the guy that does these TH-cam vids won't touch it, but it's been a great addition to my board.

    Interesting demo, but SOS on the AR seems a little limiting. What's the most versatile SOS to seek out? Volante? Ditto 4x?

    • @GNeuman
      @GNeuman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally, I love the SOS on the El Capistan and I have this, the Timeline and Volante on my board....the decay on the El Capistan is soooooo pleasing to my ears plus there's quite a few seconds in the loop (forget how many seconds exactly)

    • @hoover728
      @hoover728 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      An advantage of the Volante over the others is that because the looper and the delay line are independent, you can have regular shorter delays within the loop; with the others (including El Cap), it's one or the other.

    • @GNeuman
      @GNeuman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hoover728 of course, the Volante does more than the El Cap, Strymon have been very clever with the voicing of both delays as to my ears they sound very different meaning there is little duplication in what they do. But, regarding SOS, I really love the sound of the El Cap. This is just personal taste and not objective. Hope this helps.

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The main limitation I see is the 2 second limitation - I assume that is what you are referring to. Agreed that the Volante and the El Cap are more versatile for SOS effects. Also, agreed that the Ditto X4 works really well for "frippertronics" style SOS. It's not really SOS in the tape sense though, as there is no gentle degrading of the repeats as the layers fade.

    Did anyone else hear glitching when he held that one switch down for a bit and then released it? Some of that glitching ended up in the sound-on-sound. I was using headphones, if it matters.

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did have at least one glitch in there at the end. Got my left foot out of sync with my right foot. You do have to be careful with the timing to get smooth layers.

    • @jdallar
      @jdallar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean glitching like he didn't perform the toggle hitting quite right or do you mean that the toggle switch made a glitch or popping sound? I was using headphones and heard a few popping/glitchy sounds that seemed to be coming from the toggle switch a few times.

  • @jeanbussac
    @jeanbussac 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for this video Bill. Did you notice any popping sound when you turn on the AR while playing ? Mine does it and the sound is submitted to reverb and delay. That's annoying for this kind of use... Thank you !

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I have not noticed this with either of my units.

    • @jdallar
      @jdallar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chordsoforion Definitely not trying to be rude, your videos are much appreciated, but I must say that with headphones on at a medium volume, you can actually hear the slight popping sound in this video the majority of the time that you are hitting the toggle switch. I actually came to the comments section to see if others commented on this because I could not tell if it was the physical act of your foot hitting the switch or if that sound was in the audio of the guitar playing.

    • @jdallar
      @jdallar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did this continue to be the case for you with your pedal?

    • @jeanbussac
      @jeanbussac 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jdallar Thanks for your response, I'll check his video again. Did you see the reedit thread concerning this ?
      I can't play mine these days, but I think I'll keep it as a more standard pedal. The EQD support can't really help me, they propose a return but I don't live in the US.
      Well, it seems to be a normal behavior.

    Sounds nice mate. You make the Ebow look so easy, sometimes it takes a couple of seconds for mine to 'kick in' whereas you seem to get sounds coming from yours straight away, which is a little frustrating for me to see 😆
    Mine is the 2 octave Ebow plus, is yours the plus or the single octave one?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Jammy - Glad you like the EBow stuff here! I have the EBow Plus with the harmonic mode. I assume that is what you mean by "2 octave"? And yes, there's a little bit of a trick to get smooth starts to the notes. I recommend positioning the EBow over the neck pickup to increase its strenght and doing a slight hammer-on to the fretted note. Also, here's a tutorial I did a while ago that may help: th-cam.com/video/Z--TKWFPn9g/w-d-xo.html

    • @JammyGit
      @JammyGit 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip mate, I'll watch that video now. 👍 Yes that's the same as my one. It's funny but sometimes I notice that I got a higher octave harmonic even when I have it on the normal setting. I use the neck pickup too, as per the instructions recommendation. I also have to turn the pickup volume down to about 3 or 4. The hardest part of using it that I find, apart from getting it going in the first place, is using it on the outermost E strings. Jeez that is pretty tough to do, as is swapping strings with it.
      I like using it though, especially with my Mel9 & Ocean Machine. Quite a few times I've slipped into a meditation type trance while using it and nearly fall asleep with the guitar & ebow in my hands !! 😆😵

    I like the sound and features of this pedal, however, when I "activate" mine, I get a very noticeable "boost" in the signal, which often clips my recording input. Anyone else have this problem?

    • @beelzeboob6784
      @beelzeboob6784 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it boosts when you have the mix-knob from 12 upwards.
      when you have the mix set at 12 or below it boosts not the signal.
      so from 0-12 the mix is a normal wet/dry and upwards it is a louder all wet.
