As a fan of over 50 years the Bears are the biggest rivalry because of all the bitter history between the two. The games played in the 60s through the 80s were some of the most violent and nasty games played. It has tapered off some due to the Bears lack of recent success, but those old memories don’t go away. That’s why Rodgers made such a big deal of owning the Bears, he understood it. The Vikings are next and the Lions are way down the list. I know Lions fans will balk at this, but you have to have success for an extended period of time before they enter the conversation

The rivalry is over with Chicago and has been for years. What have they done in the last 20 years against GB? Everybody chalks this up as an automatic win so their is zero intrigue. I mean if you lose every time against an opponent where is the rivalry? Geographics mean nothing.

@@joer1678 its a border rivalry. Same way brewers cubs is despite Milwaukee only being in the NL Central for 25 years.
Bears packers is also a historic rivalry. My dad is 65 and largely hates the bears due to the 1980s
Other than that this rivalry is flat. Vikings have been a much bigger thorn in the packers side over the Favre and Rodgers eras. The metrodome was a house of horrors for years.
Younger generations don’t care what Halas and Lombardi did. It’s so one sided since 1994 it’s not really even a rivalry. The rest of the nation is bored when packers/bears play on Sunday or Monday Night.
Its purely a fan rivalry as Wisconsin and Chicago absolutely hate each other in all sports

@ I was giving the perspective of someone like your dads age which I am. All of my buddies still enjoy beating the Bears most in spite of the recent dominance. More reasons are the Packers have won the most games, the Bears are next, the Packer have won the most championships, the Bears next, the Bears have the most Hall of Fame players, the Packers next. While the Vikings have had more success recently, they’ve never won a championship. Plus there’s even a Packer song targeted at the Bears. But to each his own

@@curthennig9448 I mean it's not much of a heated rivalry at the moment but it's not really fair to say it's over. The players of both teams still clearly despise each other. All it would take is a single year of the Bears not being dysfunctional for it to be renewed. Not to mention Bears fans would get way more satisfaction beating the Packers than ANYONE else, even if the Packers don't currently view them as a threat.

NFL owners are very rich people, that rarely translates to really nice people. The Bears will be desperate this weekend and I think it will be close for much of the game. Thomas Browne, like Shane Waldron, is from the Sean McVay school of offense. He was with the Rams for 3 seasons before going to Carolina last year. Great show. Thanks.

The part about being kinda jealous of the Packers Bears rivalry reminds me of something my professor said. We live in Brazil and when it comes to soccer, our biggest rival is Argentina. But one time he was in Argentina and there was a game where Brazil won and seeing as how soccer rivalries are taken very seriously here(sometimes way too seriously), he was somewhat afraid that there would be some form of retaliation. But oddly there was nothing of the sorts, so curious he asked a local who basically said something along the lines of “well it stings to lose, but at least it wasn’t to Uruguayan.” and he felt sort of betrayed, like a “my whole life has been a lie” and when he told this story to my class I couldn’t help be feel the same despite not caring for soccer at all…

Have you heard of internet radio Charlie Paddle Bearpaw? Packers biggest rival in the last 25 years is definitely the 49’s. They have been our Achilles heel for several decades. We easily beat the Bears, Vikings, Lions, Cowboys about 75% of the time over the last several decades. But the 49’s when it counts? They have owned us.

A lot of the teams in the NFL struggle to develop QBs, and a lot of it has to do with the impatience of the people up top, and the belief that you have to win with a QB on a rookie deal. Teams think that sitting a rookie QB takes away a year of their playoff window, the coaches tend to be on the hot seat so they rush the QBs out early to try and keep their jobs, and then rather than develop them try to scheme the offense to hide the flaws in their game. People see players like Stroud and Jayden Daniels and think any talented QB should be able to do the same, even if the system they had in college is different from the NFL. It takes time and experience for QBs to adjust, and defenses are sharp and quick to adapt in the NFL. Once someone figures out how to slow down or stop a QB everyone does it, and that's where the lack of development comes into play. Caleb would likely be far better sitting behind a veteran QB for at least half the season if not the entire season, but Eberflus can't do that because in the meantime he's being fired and it's the next guy who gets to reap the benefits of Caleb's skills.

Packers are 2-3 after the bye under MLF-too little data to say anything one way or another.
Any team can beat any other team in the NFL. Football is a high-variance game and even the worse teams are filled with elite athletes. The Raiders bear the Ravens earlier this season. But in general, teams that are heavy favorites usually win. Otherwise Vegas would be losing lots of money on moneyline bets.
We just remember the upsets a lot more than the predictable outcomes, which can then make sports fans superstitious when their team is strongly favored. Anyone still remember when the heavily-favored Bills beat the Titans earlier this season? Probably not.

The Ultimate Bears trade. Rodgers needs out of NY so he goes to the team he owns... The Bears. Bears bench Caleb and go 2-15 with Rodgers. They draft another QB and Caleb is released and picked up by the Packers. Love wins a Super Bowl and the next year is hurt with 6 games left in the season. Caleb goes on a run and gets the Packers to the NFC Championship game. Love comes back in and wins another SB. Packers trade Caleb the next season for a first rounder. Perfect Bears scenario.

Paul, you’re jealous of this rivalry?! How do u think Lion fans feel? I think Minnesota and Detroit were supposed to be rivals, but it’s been Minnesota politeness vs. Detroit ineptitude for years. It’s not the best formula for the making of a fierce rivalry.

You can’t compare the packers and love in 2023. The bears have a great defense. Caleb is dogwater there is no excuse. They are about to play a gauntlet. Watch him dissolve more

The constant churning of GM, HC, and QB at different times have ruined the bears much to the hilarity of Packers fans. Its about to happen again too with Caleb Williams. New coach next year most likely. Bears still suck.
I didn't understand the hype at the beginning of the season for the Bears either. They had close calls with a bunch of tomato can teams for every single one of their wins.

For Paul: Momentum is important in football. Important for game announcers and sports talkers to fill airtime. Aside from that it is a myth. Another name is Not Hand Fallacy.
Being a move ahead of the opposition mentally or in play calling is real. Morale is real. That a big play or big game magically makes teams more skillful is ... magic.

It seems pretty aggressive to call it a “hot hand fallacy.” After all, there’s pretty good evidence in other sports that momentum matters (as anyone who’s ever shot a basketball would tell you, and recent empirical research backs up), and internally and externally teams talk about it a lot in every sport. When a team is unmotivated and the locker room is falling apart, they play a lot worse. Momentum seems to play quite a bit into that.

Why are the bears so dysfunctional? Because they have dumb owners who are cheap. They don’t wanna fire a coach and pay him out so they lame duck them with a rookie QB over and over again.

We usually hit mute when Jack starts talking. We decided to give it another try today, and we got, "Is she a pretty woman," and which cities are best for partying and playing hungover. Back to muting. C'mon, guys. You can do (and have done) better.
