I think some people forget that the original film was based on Blatty's novel - inspired by the Roland Doe case of 1949. Friedkin tried to follow the novel as best as he could while keeping it grounded in reality (with the help of technical advisors - including Rev. John Nicola). It was never intended to be a horror film per Friedkin and Blatty.
That's confusing cos the film follows the book pretty darn closely and the novel is scary. Famously scary. How could it not be made as a horror film? If you had applied that comment to Legion, I might agree. The book ain't half as scary and the film is full on frightening.
I would say so! You won’t need to hit it in IMAX or anything but it’s worth the price of admission. I haven’t seen Saw X yet but Exorcist is definitely better than The Nun II

Not replicated like beat for beat, but took some things that worked in the first movie, like the score being more minimal than we’re used to these days for example, lack of cheap jump scares, and some of the editing choices
I'm sure it's not that big of a spoiler, but to say it's not a spoiler on the grounds of it being in the trailers and having lots of articles on it, that is not the right line of reasoning. SAW X had massive spoilers in the trailer, and one of them was discussed to death in the marketing and innumerable articles prior to release. When you watch the movie, you realize it was absolutely supposed to be a surprise. Trailers spoil things all the time, and not everyone watches them or reads the articles associated with a film. So I would still treat anything seen in the trailer / articles as a possible spoiler for anyone watching. This goes for trailers of all movies.
I appreciate the feedback. I don’t watch trailers for that reason, so I have not seen the Saw X trailer. Hopefully I will be surprised when I see the film. Burstyn is second billed in this film though so I felt I couldn’t really review the film without mentioning her. But maybe I should not have mentioned whether or not it was a potential spoiler in any case. Thanks so much for watching!

This is correct. Friedkins intention was a psychological drama. Pop culture has made it a horror. Now its both really.
Read the book high... its sooooo strange.
I didn't care for his halloween films and now that i know danny mcbride who worked on halloween with him was involved here i'm staying away.
