Sang perfectly. Beautiful to listen to. You do this song justice, Without music it is certainly the best version I have ever heard, Thank you for showing this,
I do :-) Lol actually I've never heard a longer version like this sung by a mainstream musician... I found the lyrics online and since I knew the tune, I just sang the long version since people were asking for it.
Everyone has a different way of singing this. I've looked at a couple of dozen videos and this one matches most closely in word and cadence what my grandmother sang accapella many years ago. For those music historians and mildly curious, she was born in 1918 in Northwestern Pennsylvania. And no she did not sing "Barbry".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the beginning In Scarlet town, where I was born, There was a young maid dwellin', Made every youth cry well a day, for love of Barbry Allen.
this is a good song I have always wondered how old it is by the way people do not just drop dead of their own accord so my question is how did William die and what did he died of.

This is beautiful. You did a TERRIFIC job!! I was crying by the end of it. Such a sad story.
Great job, most authentic, the highest complement I can give

I strongly disagree :/
each to their own, You try listen to a better version without music,
Yes. She does it beautifully. So haunting, yet touching.

When I first heard this song from “Robin Hood Daffy” when I was like 6, I had no idea it was this sad.
it almost made me cry
how??
Beautiful rendition, but the ORIGINAL is NOT Barbara Allen!! It is "BARB'RY ELLEN" to rhyme
with "GREEN BUDS SWELLIN'" and "FAIR MAID
DWELLIN'" !!
It went by various names - and you are assuming everyone speaks with an American accent.

In Scarlet town, where I was born,
There was a young maid dwellin',
Made every youth cry well a day,
for love of Barbry Allen.
yep, I have the printed music from mens choir of Barb'ry when I sang this song for all state in Oregon in 2011-2012.
+AsthenicIsland *Barb'ry Allen
it's a Scottish ballad where it was a popular folk song but the actual name is Barbary allen
I do not think that information is correct
There are lots of variations in the words. That's pretty normal for old folk songs.
this is a good song I have always wondered how old it is by the way people do not just drop dead of their own accord so my question is how did William die and what did he died of.
William died of a broken heart for his love for Barbra allen
that's just plain sad
Who sings this version?
Sounds best sung in West Country British accent rather than American South.
stand by your barbara allen sounds like tammy on downers
Is this Dolly Parton? It sounds so much like her.
my momma sang it to me and her grandmother sang it to her
well, thats nice :)
