- Bothy Band Reunion Gig 22nd Jan 23 Glasgow Royal Concert Hall as part of Celtic Connections 2024.
The Kesh Jig/Give Us a Drink of Water/The Flower of the Flock/Famous Ballymote
The Bothy Band stand out as the most influential and revered of the many ensembles who revolutionised the playing of traditional music in recent generations. They have not played a major live show in more than 40 years.
Absolute tears of joy. Thank the gods that all these magicians are still with us and still playing. And, as always, RIP Micheal and Tommy.
Hope Dónal gets well sonn: my best wishes, and love ❤
In my view, the best Irish band of any genre of music in my lifetime. I saw thenm in Galway about 1976.
My life is complete. I played them endlessly through studying for my finals in 1987.
Love love love!!! The most influential band in the history of Irish music.
Great to see - welcome back
They prove wrong the phrase "Too old to rock" Amazing and very powerful performance !!!
So awesome, I wish I wasn’t so far away to go and see them play! Maybe in October I can swing it, absolutely love these guys 🙌🏼
Grand they're back.
God bless Michael, there in spirit!
Was in Ballisodare in 1979,brilliant time, can't wait to see them again. Sligo in Oct.
I ❤ bothy band
Bha sin Sgoinneil! I never thought they'd come together again. They still have the old magic
Wow Brilliant Performance Brilliant Ur All Back Again Long May It Last
Amazing! Back in the day I managed to catch Planxty, the Chieftains, Moving Hearts and De Danaan a number of times, but never saw The Bothy Band. Really looking forward to seeing them in Dublin come April. Age doesn't seem to make a difference when it comes to playing this music, a point made clear to me when watching the 2004 Planxty reunion gig in Vicar St. If anything, it was better than I remember them from the first time round, which itself was magic.
Legends. The live set from 1977 is what got me into trad.
I would have given my eye teeth to be there!
I saw them about 1980 in Cork, so it's great to see them back together!
Look at how happy Kevin looks at 4:38 !
Thanks immensely for posting this. Hopefully videos of the full concert will in time be back.
Absolutely brilliant lads !!
Thanks so much for posting this - a great memory of a wonderful concert - I was so pleased to be there to see my favourite band!
Rip Micheal
I saw them live at The Boys O' Ballysodare music festival in 1979. Nobody knew at the time it would be their last concert. Planxty 'n Clannad also headlined. Freddie White put on a most memorable performance as did so many others. 'Twas a great weekend o' music 'n festivities for a California lad in Ireland.
Brilliant, thanks for posting.
Amazing & congratulations on your 50 anniversary
The myth on stage again. Long life to them !
Wow! That must have been amazing to see live.
It was indeed.Travelled over from Ireland to see them.Booked for Dublin next August also.
Thanks so much for posting this, such amazing musicians! My partner and I were so looking forward to seeing them and both came down with Covid two days before. Heartbreaking to miss the concert but will keep an eye out for more clips. Thanks again!
Irish reincarnation at its best.
quién pudiera haber estado allí...
♥
This is ace
🥰🥰🥰
No Clancy, No Rovers, No Planxty, No Chieftains. There is only The Bothy Band.
I love Frankie Gavin and the De Danann too.
Gálanta
The music is excellent, of course. But Where can I get a hat like that?
🤓😭😍😍🥰
Good one Neil.
You going to the cruinniu na bhfluit this year?
Thanks. Decided to go to Scoil Willie this year - unfortunately only so many holiday days I can use for fluting!
They surely do not need music scores in front of them!!
I'd say it's the set list. We were due to fly on the same Dublin - Glasgow flight on Sunday which was cancelled due to a fierce storm. The 10 am Monday flight was delayed until 2pm and didn't reach Glasgow until almost 3:15 or so. They missed out on rehearsal and planning, but managed sound check and whatever.
We're all safely back in Dublin now on a fairly exciting Aer Lingus Regional flight this evening. I hope this helps!
Phenomenal night btw!
De valeur que le son soit pourri.
Fer fx sake !
What are all those music stands doing there? Surely they're not reading?
It's the racing results live.😅
Old men like me, needing some reminders…😂
Omg they sound fantastic! Thank you for posting!
