From Assam, my state produces 55% of India's total tea and 18% of global tea production. Here tea was discovered in 1823 by Robert Bruce. Apart from China, Assam was the first place to discover an indeginous species of tea Camellia sinensis var assamica. Also Assam tea is best for milk tea.
Wonderful to hear from someone based in the exact location of one of the teas featured! Assam is certainly a massive tea producing region & super popular globally. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you enjoyed the video. Have a wonderful day! 👍😊
Mangalam assam is my favourite all time tea, I love the rich maltyness. Second flush mangalam S.F.T.G.F.O.P. Is my all time favourite and have 3 caddy’s of it from different companies and they’re all amazing teas. I also have a few other single taste assams and some are so unique, I have one that has very strong stone fruit flavour to it which is really nice and the caffeine content makes it perfect for waking up. Love that assam, second is golden Yunnan and lumbini Ceylon (low grown) tea which have some beautiful sweet caramel notes to them. It’s amazing how different teas can be so different from flush to flush and garden to garden, even gardens right next door may have superior tea than their neighbours depending on how they grow and if they use good quality clones like a lot of the best assams and darjeelings, I’m currently drinking a brand new 2024 first flush Darjeeling for breakfast and these are the only teas I love without a tiny splash of milk.
@@JamieSmithlovesJesus hey can you suggest some best tea in Assam?which one should buy for my home ? Suggest 3/4 name suggest best quality acording to you
In most stores in my area it's impossible to get only Ceylon. Therefore, I haven't tried it yet. I might get it on the internet. How would you describe the taste? What makes it special or different?
Thank you for a lovely post. As a wee lad in Sweden, many moons ago, I drank the cheapest tea bag tea with milk and sugar. One day I forgot the sugar and discovered a new flavour, from that day I've never used sugar, but I still pour in a splash of milk. As a grown man, I'm very picky with my tea and love many different flavours. Try to put a bit of Earl Grey in your Lapsang Souchong, not bad at all.
Thank you so much for saying so and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! My own first introduction to tea was sweetened and drunk from a saucer in my Grans house. Nowadays the sugar has gone and I’ve moved up to cups but fond memories nevertheless! Love the Earl Grey & Lapsang idea! Thank you so much for sharing and have a wonderful day.👍😊
I drink Assam or keemun for breakfast . Darjeeling as afternoon tea is best favourite , Ceylon anytime love the light colour and the sweet after taste . The Japanese black tea is new to me never tried before. I don't like smokey tea like lapsang souchong but with smoked salmon sandwich it is great.
I’m so glad you noticed, I love it too! 😁 I agree entirely; beautiful china can make tea feel like a special occasion. In case you’re interested it’s Wedgewood Cornucopia. The matching coffee set features in our coffee video! 😆 (Link below) Thanks so much for commenting and have yourself a wonderful weekend 👍😊 th-cam.com/video/72opypnj1Yk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0o5fQJn237Tz4nhh
Benifuuki is a hybrid of Japanese and Indian tea, which is then grown in Japan. I'm a big fan and it was my first experience with a black tea that could knock my socks off with flavor.
A very popular tea, often used in many blends to add strength and full flavour. For my thoughts on the specific flavours and characteristics of a quality Assam, I think I say it best in the video. 😊 Hope that helps. 👍😊
How lovely to hear you found the video so inspiring, …you’ve just made my day! Thank you so much for taking the time to share such kind feedback & I hope you’ll enjoy more of our videos in the future. Have a fantastic day! 👍😊
I really like this video. Made me really curious about black teas around the world. Really would like to see another video on what pairs well with the teas that were featured in this video like spices, biscuits or cakes etc.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Great idea! I have started mentioning occasional pairings in some of our videos, so I’m pleased to hear this sort of thing goes down well and I’ll definitely bear in mind your suggestion for the future. Thanks again and have a wonderful day! 👍😊
You keep this up and I'm going to have to search for a hidden camera watching me. Everyone of your videos is on a subject I'm can be very obsessed with. I am actually drinking, I swear not a joke, black tea as I watch this video. It's a cheap store brand English breakfast tea that I drink several cups of daily but I do have expensive teas in a kitchen drawer. I have Lapsang Souchong , one of my favorites, oolong, several flavored loose black, blooming flower tea, Darjeeling for sure, green, chia, and about 10 herbal/fruit "teas". I also have a black tea you didn't cover, Pu-erh a fermented and pressed tea which can be overpowering in flavors. FYI, for those that find green tea too astringent, try some Genmai cha. This is a green tea blended with toasted rice, some which pop like pop-corn. The toasted rice mellows out the green tea giving an earthy taste. Toasted rice also make this tea cheaper; its original purpose. I put sugar in my tea because I find it covers some of the "nasty" flavors and because I'm an American and we put sugar in everything regardless of it belonging there. Now, I'll have to look for some Wakoucha Tea since I've never heard of it and I'm Japanese-American so I have to have some to taste. It's a strange name as it translates to "Japanese Pirate Tea" Tea. Yup, I'm a full grown man that just said Tea Tea.
I’m so pleased that you’re finding our videos are hitting the right spot! (No hidden cameras, honest! 😆) I love the fact that you’re there supping black tea, or munching on nut chocolate as the corresponding taste test is playing, (no doubt sprinkling extra sugar on it as you go) 🤣 You certainly sound like you are a tea fan, …that’s a super impressive choice of teas to have in your drawer at one time! I’m amazed, however, to have been the first to introduce you to Wakoucha, however rare it may be. I do hope you try some; Benifuuki seems to be a great version. Personally I will be seeking out some Genmai Cha based on your comments. Thanks as always for your kind feedback and fascinating insights. TTFN 🤣 JJ 👍😊

Can you help me in naming any international brand contains Darjeeling tea or assam tea.? Here in Pakistan 95% black tea is imported from kenya so we have no idea about indian or sri lankan black tea.
A big hello and welcome to you in Pakistan!, and thank you so much for watching, and for your question. Very generally speaking, Kenyan tea tends to be bold, strong and a little malty, which is, on the whole, more similar to Assam, and less like Ceylon or Darjeeling. While Kenyan tea is used in many tea blends worldwide, (as is Assam,) Darjeeling tends to be more commonly sold as a single origin tea. To really get a feel for the differing tastes, I would seek out specific named single origin teas. Global brands such as Lipton for example do produce specific packs of “Royal Assam” or “Darjeeling” tea. I can’t be sure of availability in Pakistan but I do hope this is useful! Thanks again and have a wonderful day! 👍😊
😆 😆 No doubt true for some people! . I think for many tea fans it’s more about rounding out certain bitter notes and accentuating or sweetening others. Great to hear your thoughts however, thanks for sharing! 👍😊

As a Sri Lankan, I've never seen that brand. And 7 pounds for 100g of tea is mind blowing. Here at most, that would be 2.55 pounds.
Definitely more expensive here in the UK, but there are cheaper options available. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day. 👍😊
