The fact that they removed the section on customizing villains is one of the strangest changes of this book for me. I'm not entirely sure why it was removed since, in my opinion, creating a memorable villain for your campaign is arguably one of the best parts of DND
some sections of the Toolbox have definitely been lacking, but I try to remember that they are going details-light to help a newer DM. I think some of the details for villains, major NPC's and adventure hooks are covered in more detail in chapters 4 and 5. Thanks for your time, and I appreciate the feedback!
@dmgeezerjim4010 a friend of mine pointed out the villain building section it really isn't that necessary since that's actually the easiest part to make. I struggle with building dungeons so I am more partial to the dungeon building chapter in the 2014 dmg. But you are welcome! I have been slightly obsessively comparing my dmg's and I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to keep them both and just staple the best bits together. The 2024 DMG undoubtedly has the best section on the different planes of existence. As a huge planescape fan that is huge to me
@@roarshach13 yeah I'm a huge planescape (2e) fan as well - I want to get around to finishing my planescape series now that the setting has more "fans" among modern D&D players.
