F-150 Service Advance-trac fix!

  • Hello!
    I ran into a random issue out running errands recently. So, let my issue be a learning experience for all of us!
    2012 F-150 3.5 Ecoboost check engine code P0107, also information display showing/warning of "Service Advance-trac" Everytime I let off the throttle.
    Map Sensor failure. M.A.P. Manifold Absolute Pressure is located at the top side/rear of the intake manifold. It's held in by a 7mm bolt. Super fast, and easy change if that's your issue.
    It was in my case.
    Other possibilities that come with "Service Advance-trac" are: Throttle body failure, Mass Airflow Sensor, Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, Electric Rack and pinion failure, or wiring short.
    if you're having trouble with your F-150, message me on here with any questions.
    Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻

      @@douglaswolf6925 it shocks me too sometimes. But, not my first Ford to break 400k. Yes, mostly OE motorcraft when possible. I use Royal purple for oil, OE motorcraft filter.
      I replaced the water pump a few years back, and used Murray along with their lifetime warranty thermostat. Big mistake. Hauling firewood in the fall, temps around 40-45 degrees during the day almost overheated. Replaced with motorcraft thermostat, never over half way on the gauge again. Even during the summer when it's 109° heat index.

    I have a 2016 F-150 V6 3.5L NON eco boost with 50K miles on original engine. Bought from Ford in 2021 as a trade in from an old timer. Over the last few months my service advance trac service warning comes up. I lost a lot of acceleration and power particularly taking off in 1st gear and when I eventually make it to say 2nd into 3rd, it starts to pick up speed. I have noticed it happens also when I punch the gas. If I shut the truck off the issue clears itself and service engine soon warning goes away.
    I have a Pedal Commander which is a plug and play that bypasses the chip which communicates between the gas pedal and throttle body. It was a great add on and makes my V6 feel like an 8, especially after I put Flowmaster true dual exhaust. I love the truck and have had no issues other than keeping up with fluid changes, brakes, had Ford do a complete fuel system treatment, and the water pump. Struck me odd the water pump needed replacing with (at that time around 40k miles) but the truck was 7 yrs old at the time. I am far from a mechanic and would value your opinion on what's causing my advance trac to come on. I shut it off and it still will occasionally come on. Someone said it may also be a speed or wheel sensor that is faulty?

    • @SmashingPunkFan
      @SmashingPunkFan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there, thank you for watching and reaching out.
      It is possible it could be a wheel speed sensor. The 13th gen F-150 I believe runs 2015-2020, it could possibly be the throttle body itself. I've heard several enthusiast with 2nd gen raptors (they have a 3.5 Ecoboost engine) have a hill descent control loss, and service advance trac all caused by the throttle body.
      The pedal commander is a nice upgrade. Have you tried temporarily tried uninstalling it to see if it by chance is causing a communication error between the ecm and throttle body?
      I hope some of this insight helps. Please reach out if you discover the issue or need more help 🙂👍

      I don't feel it's anything special. Royal Purple oil 5w30 every 8,000 miles. I check the coolant at least 3 times a week, I use the Valvoline Zerex Orange. A UPR mega catch can. And a homemade CAI made with PVC and a K&N filter. And never hard accelerate unless it's to get on the highway in one of those "oh sh!t I gotta get on it!" Moments. I'm hoping to break 500k by April/May. Good luck with yours! It'll definitely treat you well. Ford Trucks are amazing!

      Have you used an OBD2 scanner and reset the codes? Drive 50+ miles for the computer to drop them. Otherwise, they could remain in the PCM as pending codes.
      If the problem persists, you might have a frayed wire or another sensor is out

    2.What's the brand scanner you have?

    • @SmashingPunkFan
      @SmashingPunkFan  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be the same issue possibly except, does the V8 measure the manifold pressure? I would look at what wiring diagram ford has that the AdvanceTrac ties into with the 5.0 version.
      I found the 3.5 had the throttle body, maf sensor (mass air flow), map sensor (manifold absolute pressure) and rack and pinion were all tied through the same circuit when these codes popped on me.
      I use ancel. It's just a basic $30 scanner.

      Hey Rufus.
      It's that the systems are tied together through the same circuit.

Now I'm just chasing leads on TH-cam to hope to find. The all eliminate all before the dreaded abs module as its 1600. Dollars, just the part, then a factory dealer has to match its id with my truck. Ebay, used is a crap shoot, they will send you the vehicle's Vin number after you pay. Then you need that Vin number to give to the dealer to sync up the part to your vehicle, and get that charge, whether or not the used ebay part actually works. So it all sucks.

      @@pauliekruger7639i got the same warnings you have at 4k miles back in 2014 when the truck was new. I had a connection problem with the brown wire in the large wire harness above the driver’s side front fender well. Probably a factory issue as the truck was untouched. My problem was a bad wire pin at the connector. The tech gave me the option to leave the truck there and wait for the correct part or just add a short piece of wire and solder it. He soldered it and I have no further issues to date. Might be worth a shot to wiggle the connector and do a continuity test across it.

      I completely agree 💯 it's definitely frustrating when you need it to be reliable. I found that wiring harnesses rub on surfaces most the time, especially with high miles on a vehicle. And it cause some of these frustrating situations. Like 9 cel codes by 1 wire grounding out.... Not sure if you have this problem or not with your truck. So when I start my truck in the morning everything works perfect, although when ac is turned on to the max it slowly gets warmer. Both of my radiator fans are running, I replaced water pump and t-stat within the last year or so. Pulled codes for a p0087 for HPFP where I did replaced although problem still persisted. Any reason or have you had this problem?

    • @SmashingPunkFan
      @SmashingPunkFan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sean,
      I have not experienced this yet *knock on wood* but I would suspect your in tank fuel pump would be running lean, or weak if you haven't replaced it. They also built it with a non-replaceable filter. Pump/filter get replaced together. I think there is some gauges you can use to test fuel pressure, or add an inline gauge just to verify.
      My fans both run continuously with the AC on. I think Ford designed it this way to make sure coolant stays sufficiently low in temp.
      Let me know if you find anything wrong with it, or anymore questions, I'd love to hear how you fix it.
